For anyone who has sailed RCCL and Celebrity are the check in processes similar? We usually sail RC but will be trying a celebrity sailing to Norway next summer. Im so used to Royals check in process but have no idea how celebrity works.
It's the same, book you're boarding time 45 days in advance, complete your details on line, wellness check before boarding and you're good to go.

5 weeks (end of November) until our first experience of the Millennium class ships, we're on Infinity, hope we like it as we're on Constellation in February 2024 and Millennium in April 2025

Thanks for this Steve, we now have had the Guest Ticket Booklet from Iglu, 4 days before we travel.
We don't usually use travel agents for our holidays and after our Iglu experience, we now know why.I used another part of the IGLU group once and only once, awful service, now use a local travel agent and love the service they give me.
-
When we booked via Planet Cruise previously (part of the same group in the UK) we were emailed a booking reference which you use to log into your booking on their site. Just looked at the Iglu site and it apprears to be the same method of logging into your booking.
Failing that give them a call

Hi!
I am staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in Venice and I am meeting the RC shuttle at City Center. Has anyone else ever done this before?
If it's the Mestre Hilton Garden inn it's a 5-10 minute cab ride to the bus station/cruise port, I assume this is where you'll be picked up. We stayed there last month and pre booked a cab it was easy and worked very well.
-
We recieved our first block on Explorer last week, was a note in our cabin asking if we wanted one, we said yes it was delivered a day later. We were thrilled it's the old style.
Kept it in our hand luggage, didn't get flagged by security at Venice.
Now just 70 more points needed for the next one!!

We had MTD on Explorer last week, it was appaling. We managed to book for 6:45 every night before the cruise, however Royal changed the start of MTD to 7:15 on day 2, as a result were were put wherever they wanted. One day, deck 5 on a table for 8, even though there was only 2 of us, we felt somewhat silly having a huge table to ourselves.
Not quite sure why Royal has such a problem with MTD (at least on Explorer), Celebrity had it spot on when we last cruised with them.
It got so bad we gave up on it and ended up in the buffet a couple of nights.
-
As someone who's starting to travel on both Celebrity and Royal it would be great if they allowed points earned on either cruise line contribute to your overall status. Might give us an outside chance of reaching the top tier, but I fear they may move the goalposts further away.

This is the first European cruise we've been on where lobster has not been offered, yet more cost cutting by Royal

I was just going to point out that only sailings from the USA get a lobster night.
When did that come into effect?
-
So on our 7 night cruise from Venice on Explorer there's no Lobster on the last formal night, have checked other current European sailings (Anthem & Odyssey) and the appear to also have king prawns, not impressed

Sailing out of Southampton in the UK gives you 2 chances of stormy weather, crossing the Bay of Biscay (off the coast of France) is often rough wet and cold, and a North Sea crossing to the Baltic or Norway can also be less than smooth, but as others have said it's all down to luck, or lack of it.

When are the May through December 2025 cruise going to be put on Royal Caribbean's website? They have them on Celebrity's site.
Usually aound November, the only Celebrity cruises listed from May 2025 are the Galapagos and a single Hawaii cruise.

VAT is tax. We paid it for ship purchases, like souvenirs, too.
I'd assume the shops would be closed when the ship is in port to avoid the issue of local taxes.
Re drinks, does the drinks package cover the extra charge when in port, I don't remember seeing a seperate charge on our bill.

Thank you Matt. Any idea what ship will be sailing from Southampton in 2025? will it still be anthem?
The rumour is we're getting Independence back again.

It depends on your needs and the itinerary.
Some people have cell plans that include many foreign destinations. Mexico is commonly included for US cell phone plans, some cell carriers include most common cruise destinations while other cell providers offer reasonable international plans.
Some people just want to check in with the baby or dog sitter every few days.
Some people want to be connected 24 x 7 every day.
There is no wrong way to be connected, or not, while cruising. It all depends on you.
Spot on, we're on a 7 night Adriatic cruise next month with 2 sea days. We'll share our free diamond day on those days and use our European roaming on each of the port days, no need for a wi-fi package, it's saved us enough for a couple of excurisons.

Looks like the intern's been busy again, hopefully they'll be working on the next cruise planner sale

Here is the link, they finally posted it.
Was Explorer of the Seas really "Amped" in 2015 as the pdf suggests, I thought it was a casualty of Covid and had a mini amp (slides) on it's last dry dock

The UK Government advises against all travel to Haiti, appreciate this has no bearing on what Royal Caribbean do but I would doubt UK issued travel issurance would be valid should you need it while at Labadee.

Thanks everybody. I spoke to the travel agent last week but they couldn't help. Said we will be told in due course. There's 2 of us going and we have different online check in days and the TA wasn't interested in that either
Might be time for a new travel agent, I wouldn't be happy with those responses.

From memory there used to be, we only noticed it missing when we sailed on Explorer recently. I'm 99% certain it was on Anthem last year when we visited the Fjords.
