  1. When I redeemed points last month, 5000 was minimum for on board credit. So you could redeem that and have 1100 for future use when you reach a new threshold.
  2. That explains why they are hard to find. When we store information (posts), we should think about ease of retrieval. Now searchable, specific titles are a start, but good design of multiple fora is important, too. And it's ok to call fora "forums", as many do. Latin terms can be a bit much!
  3. I don't know what is offered now, but years ago I took a great snorkeling excursion on a small boat. That first time hooked me. But off the beach there isn't too much of interest. Next time I will try the coaster.
  4. Thank you for sharing your experiences on this fan site. Royal Caribbean will send you an email about end-of-cruise survey. That is an opportunity to give feedback. But when I have an excursion issue I contact the Shore Excursions group while still on the ship. We have all had to change a dinner arrangement a time or two due to delays in returning from excursions. Traffic delays are a common problem, but do report issues with your excursion operator to Royal as appropriate.
  5. The groups disembarking are a few minutes apart, so you should be off by 9 or 930. You need to be out of rooms by 830, and sooner is better. Once your group is called and you exit, you need to find suitcases. And customs and immigration takes time although it can move quickly. I'd guess 10 is latest for pickup with suitcases. There is no guarantee, but Royal is motivated to turn around quickly. Frankly, I'd be flexible about pick-up time.
  6. Normally more expensive on board. We book the odd meal in advance on sale.
  7. No, not really. There are too many chapters to get to the end of the story. Live blogs are just that, not concise factual summaries that can be read quickly.
  8. Use free days but delay start so you get three days of coverage, noon to noon to noon. Then you can decide if you really need to buy remaining days.
  9. It's the thought that counts, and a robe can help you feel special. But, no, I don't wear them either.
  10. Yes, a good idea for a forum with short reviews after cruise is completed. I find live blogs too much to process. I don't benefit from them, except for a few photos here and there. Reviews sorted by ship can be helpful in answering the many posts about choosing one ship over another. They can also highlight recent changes or trends.
  11. Your stateroom attendant should do that, although day 1 is a bit chaotic.
  12. Look up cruise with similar itinerary or past cruise compass. Also, if you pick a random all day excursion, you'll get an idea with a mock reservation. The excursion will depart soon after clearance...Our invoice from TA always has detailed itinerary.
  13. Last time I got a cup of ice from the bar and added coffee from buffet. That was a few years ago. I'd recommend getting an iced drink at cafe promenade and putting in a travel mug to go ashore. Standby for other comments.
  14. I am not interested in the excursion, but I am glad to see at least one other person will be on the ship September 19th. Good luck with your planning!
  15. Back to cruising, I do believe that world travelers can develop sensitivity to, and understanding of, the cultures they visit. But as stated, it can be frustrating and inconvenient. We need the same sensitivity at home, and I see that reflected in so many helpful posts I read on this blog. Grazie!
  16. We've done snorkeling with Royal before, but I don't remember if scuba was offered. Check Viator or just Royal's port page on Nassau to get an idea of what might be offered. Some people use the App for a similar itinerary closer to current date to see what is available.
  17. First, gratuities are added when you buy beverage packages, as you noted, so you aren't required to tip again. You may be given a slip to sign, and you don't need to add extra gratuities. Sometimes you won't get a slip. Now many folks add a dollar or two because they like the service, want stronger mixed drinks, order a lot of drinks, or are just generous. You decide what is right, but never feel guilty. I use drink vouchers that don't have gratuities built in, so I tip cash on those. Others will share their approach.
  18. We have a May 2025 cruise and few Royal excursions are shown. 3rd party sites aren't much better and all seem to be non-refundable. So agree it is too early.
  19. My wife kept getting error message this AM even though I could check her in from my account. Found out from Royal that somehow she wasn't linked to the reservation at her end. The agent fixed that. Others seem to have this issue. So using phone, the fix is to use Contact Us at their website, FAQ boarding pass, select chat now, and type in Agent. (AI tool won't answer Q). Agent asks for res #, name, and email App is linked to.
  20. Saw this weekend that it is now $20 per day to park at the port (passenger car). This makes hotel parking more appealing for our September Canada cruise.
  21. Agree but need to share that with Air2Sea we flew twice to Europe arriving day of cruise and survived. Once plane to Newark was delayed so we were given train tickets. Wouldn't you know, the train broke down. But in the end we made our flight because the plane coming from Spain was delayed. TSA agent and airline staff were helpful. So there are some successes, although I won't tempt fate again.
  22. And on Allure the divider between balconies was unlocked by Stateroom Attendant so we could visit easily with our adult children.
  23. Yes. For my next cruise there are big arrows next to connecting rooms on deck plans.
  24. +1 for walking across the floating bridge in Curacao. I enjoyed our lunch at a Venezuelan restaurant. On our return we were stuck on the bridge for a few minutes to let naval vessels sail through. That was fun.
