  1. If they say its up to the cruise line than whatever the 'issue' is must not actually be an issue with Canadian border services. Cruise lines have it right in the cruise contract that it is up to the passenger to ensure they meet all requirements for entry into any of the stops on itinerary.
  2. I've never understood why they do this. Its got to be easier for everyone involved (including their own staff) to allow people to make their own reservations ahead of time.
  3. I also do not like the continuing price raising and those of us who have been cruising for a long time bemoan these price increases because we liked what we had, however, cruising still remains a much cheaper option than most vacations (unless you enjoy spending your vacations camping).
  4. We cruise about 70% Royal. We feel that Royal has the best ‘all around’ product but there are things other lines do better so we switch it up from time to time. My wife loves thermal suites and literally every other line does this better than Royal. We also enjoy the entertainment options on other lines.
  5. I love how people want that ABSOLUTE CHEAPEST fares possible but complain about service cutbacks. You want EVERYTHING? No problem but you have to pay for it. There are plenty of luxury cruise lines to choose from. Stop expecting LV at WM prices
  6. I'm sure Royal would love to amplify all their ships, and I would love for them to do it. However, I am not prepared to have cruise fares triple in price to cover it
  7. Interesting story on this. Most land border crossings have not been checking for this. Recently some friends of friends (1 who is unvaccinated) drove across the border and flew to Miami to take a cruise on Odyssey. The focus was on getting across the border from Canada into the US since Royal is not checking for getting on ships and Canada doesn't require it coming back across. They got into the US at the land border no problem and figured they were home free. What never crossed their mind (nor mine as I knew they were doing it) was that they had to go through US customs again coming off the cruise ship in Miami. She was detained for 2 hours while the custom agents figured out what to do. They eventually just let them go (probably because no one really gives a crap about the outdated requirement).
  8. Yes, its called purchasing another cruise.
  9. We just kind of accept it since we love to cruise the Caribbean. Unfortunately it’s not just the time but the airfare costs which sometime match or exceed the cost of the cruise
  10. I hear that. I’m from Vancouver Canada so have to traverse the continent when cruising from Florida but on the plus side we gain 3 hours going home
  11. Everyone here, myself included, loves to get on a cruise ship as early as possible on embarkation day to begin enjoying the ship and everything it has to offer. The downside to this is on disembarkation day we are kicked off the ship much earlier than I think most of us would like so the next passengers can get on early. I’m curious how many here would like more lines to adopt Virgin Cruises schedule where the earliest embarkation time you can get is 1 or 2 pm but you don’t need to disembark until 10 or 11am?
  12. Updating my will to include a provision that if i die on a cruise ship I want my body dumped overboard, not hauled back. My family and friends can honor my memory, not my dead body.
  13. I may be wrong but I believe MSC does some Caribbean cruises (not originating in US) where there passengers started or ended their cruise in various ports along the way. I vaguely remember seeing a video about this.
  14. Yes he can. As there is no alcohol in them there is no issue.
  15. 19 pools is somewhat misleading. This number includes kiddie splash pools and whirlpools
  16. My wife and I are the same way lol. She is an over sharer and I am the far opposite. I love to watch the show though
  17. I do a lot of the 1 way pacific coastal cruises as well. These are reasonably priced, only require 1 way airfare and I'm happy just to be on a ship.
  18. If they used Ovation or Quantum with both adult and family fully enclosed solariums, as well as the seaplex and 270, there is still plenty to do regardless of the weather. There are ships doing year round trips in the UK which has a very similar climate.
  19. Don't tell anyone here but I do the Mexican Riviera itinerary on other cruise lines as well just to mix it up.........
  20. I've mention it before many years ago and understand not really feasible because of distances but I would love to see roundtrip year round options out of Seattle (preferably Vancouver but Seattle is close enough). Itineraries would be limited as well but doable in 7 days. Seattle, sea day, sea day, San Fran, Santa Barbara or LA, sea day, sea day/ late evening Victoria (to satisfy PVSA), Seattle. Could also do 8-12 night itineraries as well with more options. I do also enjoy the 7 night Navigator itineraries as well though. It is also a short easy flight from Vancouver, just not quite as convenient as a short drive.
  21. We were once on a sailing with a very large group of MLM 'entrepreneurs'. They were very loud and disruptive and took over a lot of spaces. Didn't let it ruin our vacation, we just found other places to be.
  22. I can confirm that Canada has no vaccination/testing requirement at all for arriving into Canada so not sure why that was put into effect. On a side note. I am cruising from Vancouver to Alaska in early may and need to show proof of vaccination because cruising to the US. My how the script has flipped from 2021.
