Can't Book Onboard Entertainment Reservations
Vancity Cruiser replied to Taylor Lilly's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
This is my least favorite thing since the restart. As a planner I like to prebook all entertainment then book our dining around it -
Interestingly Royal has been talking about major plans for Labadee (nothing specific) recently

Just got an email this morning removint it from our January cruise

Online vax card question for Canadians
Vancity Cruiser replied to Debbie S's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I uploaded the original vax card given at the time shots were given, not the 'proof of vax' online qr code that we now have. I'm not sure the qr code record we have for Canada is really effective elsewhere. -
I don’t believe they are or my wife would be getting a lot more massages on-board

RC releases protocols through March 2022
Vancity Cruiser replied to smokeybandit's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
My guess, and it is just a guess, is that by announcing these protocols at this time, it gives them time to resell cabins cancelled by those unwilling or unable to cruise under these protocols. Seems like a bold move a new CEO (and former CFO) might make............ -
RC releases protocols through March 2022

Just looked back at the copy we received to the stateroom and it showed results for SARS-CoV-2 Flu A Flu B RSV -
RC releases protocols through March 2022
Vancity Cruiser replied to smokeybandit's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
When I got my PCR test results back from my test on Ovation (to get back into Canada) the results showed negative for Covid, two different kinds of flu, and one other thing that escapes my memory now. Not sure if that is standard but this test covered more than just covid. -
Windjammer Self-serve? yea/nay?
Vancity Cruiser replied to barjpoe's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
i much prefer the crew doing the serving. Not only does it feel cleaner but I actually find people move quicker as well -
Was thinking of getting thrill water park passes when there on January 8th cruise thinking it’ll probably be lowest capacity it’ll ever be again but sounds like capacities will be near full again by then and it also seems like there are multiple ships per day once again docking at Coco Cay

ICON CLASS UPDATE
Vancity Cruiser replied to The Cruise Junkie's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
The latest trends seem to focus on a larger promenade deck (usually deck 5) with a pool(s) and hottubs included on this desk as well as bars and restauraunts. I think we will see something similar on Icon -
Royal Caribbean provided a PCR test on board for us for our return to Canada. It was complimentary

Water and Soda In Your Stateroom
Vancity Cruiser replied to Jim D's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
On my last cruise (Ovation) bar staff refused to give me cans (I had the soda package) to take back to my room. I asked at several different bars with the same answer. They would give bottles of water to my wife (who had the refreshment package) but would not give out cans of soda. I'm not sure if this is a new policy, or a ship specific policy. I was able to get a few cans from La Pittiseri cafe (one at a time) but then other times I was told my soda package was not covered there. -
As @twangster mentioned, this is not necessarily the CDC and more likely the protocols for the port being visited. A lot of Caribbean countries have opened up their ports to cruise ships as long as only full vaccinated travellers come off the ship

Vancity Cruiser replied to dswallow's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Those would be some expensive crystal blocks! -
Trouble with MEI Travel
Vancity Cruiser replied to Johnstewarth's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
All travel agents have been basically working for free since March of 2020. All the handling of cancellations, rescheduling, refunds, and FCC’s was done for free. True, they do get paid when someone eventually travels but if that trip was rescheduled 3 times that means they did the work twice for free. -
ROYAL'S FIRST EVER WORLD CRUISE!!!
Vancity Cruiser replied to smokeybandit's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
It was interesting to read in @Matt investor call summary that the cruise is already 70% sold! Not to mention that the royal suite sold for a whopping $760,000 -
Anyone else find it strange that Royal doesn’t have merch for sale on their website? I need a new phone case and don’t want to wait 2 months till my next cruise i would think haveing a merch section on their website offering all their branded stuff would make sense.

Canadian here, our cards are not from CDC. We have different ones in different provinces. My card simply has brand ‘Pfizer’ and date given handwritten on it and I had no questions asked about it at port.

I always get the future cruise certificate because I have found prices are usually higher at Next Cruise for whatever reason than what my TA can get.

Spectrum to sail from Hong Kong
Vancity Cruiser replied to mattymay's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Man when you read how a cruise was shut down for 1 suspected case of covid, suddenly the US CDC doesn’t appear so bad anymore. I am thankful for the US cruise restart and that we are able to cruise even if it means jumping through some hoops and going along with some protocols I don’t love. -
ROYAL'S FIRST EVER WORLD CRUISE!!!
Vancity Cruiser replied to smokeybandit's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Unless you go super frugal (in which case why go if you aren’t actually going to explore and see all the sights of the world) I don’t see how you could do this trip for under a quarter million for a couple
