  1. We asked our youngest and his girlfriend if they wanted to do this instead of a cruise with us in 2025. When they saw the price they thought it was too much for what it is.
  2. Yea. No vaccine card needed to cross into Canada
  3. There will be a specific time it leaves. It’s best to call Royal for specifics about your cruise (or go through your travel agent). From what I’ve seen, barring any local events (like the Venice marathon when we cruise in October), the shuttle will pick up at the airport and from the “People Mover” at Tronchetto in Venice proper. Here is a link to a thread with a lot of info about getting from venice to Ravenna.
  4. I’m amazed at how much Nassau has changed in two years.
  5. If I would’ve been cruising when I was in my 20s, my first beer of my first day of vacation would have been before we got in the cab to get to the port. I really don’t miss those days, but I totally understand people that enjoy a good drink right when they get on the ship.
  6. Glad your cruise is going well. I shared with my wife and we both agree that a yearly anniversary cruise is something we need to start doing. After seeing your update in the wee hours this morning, I realized how wrong I’m doing it…I need to be just going to bed at that time instead of getting ready for work (yea, I left for work that early )
  7. We love cruising from Cape Liberty in winter. Last February, it was single digits when we left our hotel in Newark for the port. It warmed up to the high teens that day. Waking up the next morning to 60s was awesome. The best part was the temps back home in Maine were -20s.
  8. Wow. We’d love to do one (or more) of those itineraries, but in October 2024 we’re already sailing out of Southampton on a Northern Europe itinerary.
  9. Last cruise we had to ask our cabin steward for a “door hanger” order form. The cruise before that, my wife “appropriated” one from one of the cleaning carts as we walked down the passageway to our cabin For some reason, I feel like you can order via the interactive TV too.
  10. One day every summer, my wife and I get together with some childhood friends and play tourist for a day in our own state. We go out to an island in Boothbay Harbor, Maine for an old fashioned lobster bake. Some of the boats out there may very well be ones that catch the lobster you’ll eat on your cruise.
  11. Be aware….there is a general strike all day on the 20th for air travel, and from 2100 on the 19th to 2100 on the 20th for train travel. Plan travel accordingly. Here’s a link to the information. It’s in Italian. I’m not sure if the website has an English version, but I’m sure there’s a way to translate it. http://scioperi.mit.gov.it/mit2/public/scioperi?fbclid=IwAR0K4ANJ4eP70z_q_AgJRQh5NM-SmdjeLQpBDGPlcGQSz1OX9UkvnkGrhXA
  12. We cruised out of Galveston just shy of a year ago and used Galveston Express for transportation. We were very pleased with them and will use them again if we take another cruise from Galveston. The whole shuttle process was simple. We flew into IAH and flew back home from HOU.
  13. I just had to ask my wife what a spin class is. I’m so out of touch.
  14. Wow. I’m so sorry to read this. Safe travels and hopefully everything will go up from here.
  15. If you need to get to the airport, there are buses that go between Piazella Roma and the airport. An alternative would be the Alilaguna water bus to the airport, but that is a lot longer. I might have missed it, are you staying in Venice before your cruise or arriving the day of?
  16. Since the restart, we've checked in at our muster station when we board, that way it's all taken care of before we start doing anything else. The muster check in is an ongoing process throughout the afternoon for all guests assigned to the muster station, not just a one time deal. The muster consists of watching the video on the app, then going to the muster station to check in with the crew assigned there. They will ask if you watched the video. If you haven't, they will give a demonstration of donning the life jacket and go over a few other things. If you have watched the video, they will ask if you have any questions. Either way, you'll check in with the crew and be on your way quickly.
  17. One thing to note..that style of two prong adapter doesn’t have a grounding path. The two prongs are for hot and neutral, so even though a three prong grounded US plug will fit, it’s not truly grounded. Also, it’s not a voltage converter, just an adapter. US household electricity is 120v 60 hz while most of Europe is 250v 50 hz. Most charging bricks nowadays will be fine because they are multi voltage. Look at the fine print on them for 100-250v. My Apple chargers all say this as well as my battery banks and electric razor. All that technical mumbo jumbo being said, that’s one of two adapters we’re bringing with us to Italy so we can charge our phones and iPads.
  18. Royal wouldn’t let my 19 year old son board alone when he joined me on Adventure for the second half of a back to back I did in 2019. I had to leave the ship and escort him back on. To be fair, they did let us get back on immediately. Even trying the logic of “he can enlist in the navy without me and go on one of their ships” didn’t work.
