  1. I didn't say they shouldn't have. But thinking that any cruise ship medical facility is "world class and world leading" is a ridiculous idea.
  2. CDC has extended the no sail order through October 31, 2020.
  3. Not that there are any sailings in October anyway... https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/23576-cruise-ship-no-sail-order-set-to-extend-through-october.html?fbclid=IwAR3O9CEJXMNImQhdxiMV6Slowy46vsjXZh0ca0oyagB5PJtCX6V33jw0FQs
  4. Radiance Class in Alaska is a great choice. No venue is without wonderful windows. When we were on Ovation there were many venues that had no ocean view, which was disappointing.
  5. I know @Matt said that he once had a cruise accidentally canceled by RCCL. Hopefully that's all it is.
  6. @beachmama welcome to the forums! (and I hope it's a mistake!)
  7. Yeah, there's no such thing as holidays for us. We work them all, so we're still taking time off from work if we try to do a holiday cruise, lol.
  8. Yes, it's possible. Up until last year that's always how we traveled to ports, because my husband is very afraid to fly. We live in Minnesota and we drove to Seattle, Vancouver, and Boston. But it's a 2 day trip each way to ANY port for us, so it adds 4 days to our PTO, which is why we only did it every couple of years. PTO goes fast when each day is 10 hours, lol. It also adds 4 days of pet sitting fees, so we'd prefer to not do that anymore. It'd be tough just for those reasons, but I guess it wouldn't be out of the question.
  9. You are an evil genius (and I mean that in the best way!)
  10. Yeah, I'd have to bring a letter because my pulse ox is consistently low. My temp tends to run around 96-97 range, so if it's over 100 I feel like I'm dying. It's very rare for me.
  11. Do they? (honest question, not being snarky). The ONLY time I have a fever, I'm sick, and I know I'm sick, and I shouldn't be going to work or on a cruise. Sniffles yes, but do people pick up a fever with allergies and common colds?
  12. That moment when you want to reply to this statement, but have to behave....
  13. Oh my gosh, you're right - I didn't even notice that I didn't pay grats on that one!
  14. I think I recall someone saying that the fine for not abiding by the Passenger Vessel Services Act was right around $800 per person. Maybe some people would be willing to suck that up, but I'd guess not many.
  15. I believe the 18% gratuity is the USA policy. I don't think it's worldwide, and Traveler isn't booking in the US.
  16. And once the vaccine is ready to go it'll take quite a long time to distribute it to the masses. One friend of mine who works in biomedical was told on a conference call to not expect a vaccine to be widely distributed until 2022. There will be an order as to who gets it first (once they figure out what that order is). It'll take a while.
  17. I put out a call to Ken Jarvis on Facebook, who posted a cabin tour of that exact room on YouTube. Hopefully he'll answer soon, in case nobody else here has personal experience with it. He doesn't address it in the video - he probably did the video shortly after boarding.
  18. I'm not blaming the family at all, but what would lead them to this belief? Did they think they were sailing on Mayo Clinic of the Seas? "“We were always under the impression that the medical facilities and staff on a ship were world class and world leading."
  19. Me either. We get calls on 911 all of the time that go something like this: 911: "And the female that you saw, can you describe her, please?" Caller: "Yes, she was a white female, brunette, blue jacket, elderly" 911: "And can you give me an idea of what you mean by elderly, sir?" Caller: "Oh, you know, about 35." 911: ...... bangs head on desk .....
  20. So in the doc's opinion, anyone over 40 is elderly?????????
  21. The ability to purchase for only one person in the stateroom is very hit and miss. I believe it's a website glitch. It's an option for some, and not for others, even within the same sailing. But when it works in your favor it's awesome. It's always an option if you call RCCL and request it, but usually not on the website. Congrats!
