I am happy to report that Venice is not flooded and we were able to get to pizza and gelato. Tomorrow is Embarkation Day!!

I've been end to end and back again. Once was there for George St. Festival- in my estimation, heaven has a 15 CAD cover charge

    Prelude:
I've enjoyed reading everyone's live blogs on here, so thought I'd add my $0.02 on our upcoming cruise on Rhapsody from Venice to the Greek Isles. As I am too cheap to spring for VOOM, this won't be live, unless I add something in port from my phone, but fully intend to give a recap when we get back. I am just getting really excited for the cruise (woke up at 4:45 this morning with cruise logistics rattling around in my head), so wanted to get the post started.
Background: My family consists of myself and my wife, as well as our 4 daughters, aged 13, 7, 5, and 3. We live in Germany, but are scheduled to move back to the States this coming summer, so we are cramming the most into the next several months to see all of Europe. This cruise was semi-YOLO book it as we were looking into Thanksgiving week travel ideas and realized that the girls wouldn't miss any more school if we went in the beginning of the month vs over Thanksgiving week (we call it No School November around here). This will be our second cruise ever (and second this year), with our first being a Western Mediterranean cruise on the Disney Magic this past May. We loved it so much that I was eagerly searching for ways to get on another cruise, so here we are, trying out RCL. I will also be celebrating (a week later) my 40th birthday on this cruise.
    Itinerary:
Friday, 2 November- Fly from Frankfurt to Venice, which hopefully hasn't washed away by tomorrow
Saturday, 3 Nov: Sail away from Venice
Sunday, 4 Nov: Kotor, Montenegro; scheduled activity: Private 4 hour driving tour of Kotor and surrounding area. I know nothing about Kotor, other than the pictures are amazing, and it is like doing a fjord cruise getting to the port.
Monday, 5 Nov: Corfu; scheduled activity: either Hop-On/Hop-Off around town, or just hoof it around and check out the city
Tuesday, 6 Nov: Athens; scheduled activity: private "Mythology Tour of Acropolis and Ancient Agora" including transfers to and from port- super excited about this stop
Wednesday, 7 Nov: Mykonos; scheduled activity: none- will probably explore the port and maybe try to get out to a beach, weather dependent
Thursday, 8 Nov: Argostoli; scheduled activity: RCL shore excursion to an underground lake and cave complex
    Friday, 9 Nov: Sea Day
Saturday. 10 Nov: Disembark and fly back to Frankfurt

I'm excited to check out a new cruise line and see how things compare, and to cross Greece off the bucket list.

    Eh?
Sorry, couldn't help myself. All kidding aside, I love Canada and have quite a situational accent when I get a few Black Horses in me.

Ah yes, one of the first German words I learned when I moved there...Stau. I remember it once taking 9+ hours to drive from Munich to Kaiserslautern (should have been 5ish hours). Also, I love me some Franzisakaner.
    Enjoy the cruise!

Last night my wife brought up our desire for a kid-less vacation to her parents, and they were open to the idea of coming over to watch the kids! So this pipe dream may be a little less pie-in-the-sky than I thought.
Depending on when they could come over, it would either be the fjords at the end of May or Western Med in the beginning of the month...fingers crossed it pans out!

I was leaning towards fjords. The constant struggle between me and my wife is that she is a beach/ocean kinda gal and I prefer the mountains.
We cruised out of Barcelona in May, which was amazing. All of you headed out in a few weeks are going to love it! Plus, it won't be so hot, which is a plus. The highlight for our family was the Leaning Tower, words can't describe how cool it is to see in person. The one thing we wish we had was a mulligan for Rome, when we went there we were on a not great shore excursion (and the kids were tired and grouchy by the time we made port there). So that is the big draw for us about doing the Med cruise- and I think I'd like to check out a bigger ship with more offerings.

Thanks Matt! I looked at the cruise compass and it looks like there should be lots to do. Hopefully the weather is still warm enough that far south to enjoy the pool. I also listened to your podcast from your Rhapsody cruise to get some info- good stuff!
