  1. Odyssey Feb 6, 2022. 2811 passengers - almost 1,000 more than last week
  2. DESPITE THE HIGHER COST OF LIVING IT STILL REMAINS POPULAR
  3. I believe capacity is 4,300 with crew of 1,550. Must feel like a luxury cruise. I'm on next Odyssey sailing (2/6). Do they have any estimates for nest cruise?
  4. So, a weasel walks into a bar ….. The bartender looks up and says “Wow!! In all my years tending bar, I’ve never had a weasel stop by. What can I get you?” “POP”, goes the weasel.
  5. I noticed that a number of members indicated that on Day 1 they dined at a specialty restaurant for lunch and that they also made dinner reservations for the entire cruise while they were there - - MULTI-TASKING! We're leaving on cruise next week and cruise planner in app shows Giovanni's open for lunch on Day one and directs you to call RCL 800# to book. When I called they indicated that's not accurate and it can't be booked. Is that correct, or is there another way? From experience, can you get seated as a walkup?
  6. Unlimited Dining Package includes specialty dining lunches on 'sea' days. Does anyone have experience with UDP on transatlantic cruises? Is there a specialty restaurant open each day while at sea - - 14 days??
  7. For upcoming cruise on Feb 6, I ordered eMed 6 pack on Sunday, 1/16 and it arrived today (1/18). Expiration is 11/21/22, so they'll work for our May and October cruises, if needed.
  8. NCL has postponed relaunch of 6 ships, cancelled one sailing and suspended another due to Omicron. Has anyone seen an official word or two from Royal Caribbean? Also. we're planning on continuing with our Feb 6 Odyssey cruise. A few questions .... Any anticipated reduction of services onboard? Any change to pre-cruise testing requirements? I’m told it’s getting more & more difficult to get PCR test results within48 hour window. Will RCL be limiting percentage of total rooms booked? If so, anywhere to find specific info for each cruise? On the plus side (I hope) any thoughts on impact to Royal Up? From past experience, what impact did load limits have on Royal Up? Better chances at lower bids?
  9. In the past I've used travel miles when booking cruises and that required the use of specific travel agencies. When Covid hit trying to get credit through these agents was next to impossible, and RCI couldn't help since there was and agency of record. Personally spent many hours tracking down those credits - - an experience shared by many. In 2022 we have 4 cruises booked (one B2B transatlantic) and only 1 is using points so I needed an agent. Based on feedback on this site I went to MEI (Kathy McCullock) to book cruises. She was very helpful, patient and knowledgeable throughout the process, especially in booking the same cabin on our B2B Wonder OTS transatlantic. When not using travel points in the future, she'll get my business.
  10. I didn't see this mask update from Matt on Dec 6. Answers all my questions. In case anyone is interested ...... https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2021/12/06/face-masks-royal-caribbean-what-you-need-know
  11. Still looking forward to to our upcoming Feb 6 Odyssey cruise, but with the recent increase in the CDC warning level we're starting evaluate our preparedness. We're accustomed to adhering to mask requirements locally and was wondering if a change in type of masks used should be considered due to increased usage frequency. Any experience or suggestions? Are different types of masks available on board? Also is there anything else we should bring along?
  12. Updated test results = 55 positives - 52 staff/3 passengers. Looks like bypassed ports and limited services. https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/55-test-positive-for-covid-on-royal-caribbeans-odyssey-of-the-seas-ship/2647848/ Hope all on board stay safe
  13. Just received notice of itinerary change on FEB 6 Odyssey. Roatan here we come
  14. It's been a while since cruising from PC, but terminal parking is definitely the way to go. Upon our return I had hurt my back and my wife already has a bad back, so the porter took us right to our car. Only a limo would be easier, so consider it a savings
  15. Hope it's memorable. My favorite cruise is the next one!
  16. After reading through some recent posts about favorite cruises I thought back over our experiences on 33 cruises over the past 34 years. Many memorable occasions that have spanned that time, but one stands out above all. A family cruise in 2002 for 3 generations, 17 family members including our 89 year old Dad/Grandfather. Beforehand we even named our cruise - - - CroozaPalooza. Celebrated a few birthdays and the engagement of our niece onboard, but the most memorable came when we were successful bidders on a wooden numbered horse (1 of 6) to be entered in a race to be held our last day at sea. We were asked to generate interest in the race by decorating our horse and bringing it with us to all the events we attended onboard throughout the week. With our group, the horse was going all day - - - from early morning sunrise coffee with the older folks, through meals and excursions, to late night disco closings with our younger adults. All very recognizable in our custom designed CroozaPalooza t-shirts. Yes, even the horse got to wear a shirt!! At the race on the final day, each horse owner had to provide a jockey. They ranged from young to old, with tuxedo dressed men to bikini wearing ladies. All done to stimulate betting. Our jockey was 89 years old. While he objected, since his selection was unanimous, he really didn’t have a choice. Each jockey was asked for final comments. We all still remember his reluctant exact words ….. “After 89 years I can advise you - - DON”T BET!” We went off as race favorites and finished second. Horse owners could recoup their initial purchase amount if the horse finished 1, 2 or 3, so we got back our initial investment. We later found out that our jockey was very nervous because he felt he would be responsible if we lost money. After 19 years we still talk about that cruise and that race. What’s your most memorable cruise?
  17. No doubt in my mind Capt Johnny Faevelen about Allure & Harmony
  18. Planning October, 2022 Odyssey Transatlantic (Rome to Ft Lauderdale). Looking for 8-11 day European or Italy escorted tours ending around Rome. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  19. Does anyone know if unlimited dining package include Coco Beach Club restaurant?
  20. Historically, tipped Diamond concierge $25-50 per week, more if we had extraordinary requests. Suite concierge a more depending on services. Don't forget the waitstaff. Enjoy your upcoming cruises.
