  1. It was cheaper for us to fly into FLL for our cruise out of Miami too with better flight times. We stayed 2 nights before & 1 night after at a hotel in Dania Beach near FLL. Hotel shuttle back & forth to the airport and SAS Transportation to & from POM $15 each way per person. Plan to do it all again with extended family in May. Told my brother I took the cruise just to iron out the kinks for him!
  2. You appear to have already decided you don’t need one so why bother to ask?
  3. 5 cruises, bags have always been in fairly close proximity to our cabin when they open. We just grab our bags.
  4. Not sure why an 11 year old needs to wander the ship unsupervised. Our kids and grandkids stayed in the area with us or at AO. If they wanted to swim, we went to the pool deck, flow rider/slides we went & watched, food, ok if we were on the pool deck, they could go grab WJ food, a fountain drink or ice cream and bring it back to eat. Nothing good comes of roving bands of preteens. Don’t have to be glued to you but in sight
  5. We had an ocean view table last week on Explorer. Depending on when sunset is, not necessarily the beautiful view you’d anticipate. We ate at 7 each night & it was like sitting in front of a mirror! If you eat after sunset, there is no view at all.
  6. Just off Explorer, food was just ok. In the really good category were the MDR crab cakes, Coq au Vin, beef bourguignon and all the no sugar added desserts. In the WJ my husbands favorite beef stew liberally heaped over mashed potatoes and bacon cooked exactly as I like it. I liked (and asked for) the roast chicken but was a little disappointed that there never seemed to be any breast or wing pieces, mostly thighs. Everything else was mostly edible but nothing to write home about.
  7. I will chime in with my usual “that’s not lobster!” post. Warm water lobster tails, absolutely no taste, has to be drowned in butter. It was a hard pass for me on Explorer last week. Of course if you have no frame of reference, I’m sure it’s fine.
  8. Ok mine is the perfectly roasted chicken in WJ. Of everything I’ve eaten on our cruises, it’s my can’t miss dish. You would think this would be a very basic dish but roasting a chicken, especially chicken parts in large quantities is not easy. I will eat this for a snack! On Mariner, I sought out the manager to rave about it!
  9. Well first I got an email saying my request was noted and confirmed. THEN I got another saying oops, no. MTD don’t get no stinking confirmation. See the MTD desk on board. Hey as long as I’m not on a TV tray in the kitchen ( and maybe even then) I’m good.
  10. I like Lipton! Surprise!!!
  11. Explorer out of Miami. Still haven’t gotten a reply so a stop at MDR when we board will be on the list!
  12. Still waiting not so patiently for a table assignment from [email protected]. Three requests so far & we sail Saturday.
  13. Also thought it interesting that you think you don’t use the laundry. Air dry?
  14. And I have tried to think that way too, successfully in the past. But it would have cost us $1400 this trip and I just feel like we’ll barely cover half of that.
  15. Is it the water? Do you have tea bags not available here? At home I brew it fresh and I still find the on board stuff drinkable. I get that we know nothing about biscuits up here (and most of you know nothing about lobster!) but iced tea??
  16. NAKED in the MDR?!?!!! There was a group of 30 or so 15 year old South American girls on our Mariner cruise in 2020. My 10 year old grandson almost had a heart attack!! Dental floss and a couple of doilies.
  17. I have Verizon with Travel Pass set up. I don’t need internet access, just a quick call/text home to check on everybody. It’s a 24 hour activation so if I activate late in the day at one covered country, I believe I can get 2 days worth of check ins. We port 3 days in a row so I think this will work,
