  1. Go and get the damn virus??? You mean deliberately get infected? Are you kidding???
  2. When we took our first cruise in 2002, for dinner the windjammer was table service with self serve appetizers, sort of like MTD. That doesn’t of course solve breakfast or lunch. I’m guessing a served buffet.
  3. Your vacation, your decision but for us, that would be cramming too much into our time. But you know your family and if they can do it, why not!
  4. If you want to go to both 4 day on Mariner is your option. 2 days for universal AND Disney is just a waste of time and money. That having been said, we did that 4 day in February and it was way too short for my liking. And as a LONG TIME disney fanatic and mother of a universal team member, both in 4-5 days is also too short. My suggestion would be the 7 day cruise with 1-2 days at Universal only which can be done in that time frame. Edited to ask if travel time needs to be added to your trip?
  5. And if I may politely add, that tweet from the Surgeon General is from Feb 20, a lifetime ago in regards to the pandemic, at a time when healthcare workers desperately needed masks. I’m also guessing those who were hoarding masks ( and toilet paper) are the same who are now against using them. My take is this (and it applies to WDW too!), if masks are required to partake in my 2 favorite vacations then I must wear a mask. For me the question is not whether it really helps or if it is enforceable once there but that these companies are feeling their way through this. If they are erring on the side of caution, why are we making it more difficult? What gives us the right to tell them which rules we will or won’t follow? To me the choice is simple. If masks are required you either go AND WEAR ONE or put off the trip. Ok, off my soapbox and praying for my Feb cruise????
  6. In the process of booking a cruise for February for Hubby, daughter (35) and son (30). This is replacing (sort of) a cruise we were supposed to take 10 years ago that was cancelled due to to family issues. We are all finally in a place where we can take that family vacation together again. I hope we can go, not sure I want to wait another 10 years!!!
  7. That was last night's viewing (is the youtube video of suite 8002 yours??) Did you find the location noisy? We are probably going to be in Suite 8004 so pretty much the same.
  8. We are sailing her in Feb! So far in our limited cruise experience we’ve sailed on Nordic Empress (a long time ago!), Majesty and Mariner. Rhapsody seems to be around the size of Majesty but fewer passengers. Is that about right?
  9. We were on Mariner in February, no attendants. Ice cream was self serve.
  10. Do you know which side is the smoking section? Bad enough inconvenient and noisy (kidding I think) but smoke will kill me.
  11. First world problems. I can only offer patience for now. I can only imagine how hard it is to be a customer service rep right now.
  12. Looks like no CK so is there a Suites dining location for at least breakfast or lunch? Dedicated concierge? Reserved show seats? Booking an owners suite for Feb 2021 & just wondering.
  13. And we have elderly parents to be concerned about. CWC probably isn’t a full substitute for trip insurance.
  14. But is it cancel for ANY reason up to 48 hours to sail?
  15. If you are (or will be once booked) eligible for the Cruise With Confidence program, is trip insurance necessary? Does CWC allow cancellation for ANY reason? And I understand it’s a FCC not a refund but if I’m ok with that do I really need trip insurance? Flight would be on points so no penalty there.
  16. Nor am I waiting for the UBP to book the cruise. I already know what cruise I’m booking and everyone has agreed to it so, barring Act of God, thats the one. I was asking purely from a budget standpoint. Like a PP, we (well I) have a rough yearly budget for vacations so just wondering if the drink package will replace a 4/5 day trip to Maine!
  17. Oh from your mouth to RCCL’s ear ??
  18. This would be my husband and I. We do almost no drinking at all at home (ok except for the last couple weeks) but certainly got our money’s worth with the UBP on our last cruise. Much like the Disney Dining Plan, I like the all inclusive feel of having the package prepaid (at Disney, I always go when it’s free). We come close enough to even to make it worth the convenience for me.
  19. Yes, hoping for $60 including the gratuity. We are taking our 2 adult kids & are planning on an Owners suite. Hubby isn’t batting an eye at what I am estimating for a total but I am flipping a little! Trying to tell myself the drink package might not be too bad. Give me my illusions!!
  20. Ok so I won’t say what my grandmother would call me! But I know 5 drinks a day is totally doable for all of us. So $60 pp is right around break even.
  21. Hard to believe I’m not really flinching (well not much) at $1750ish for a weeks worth of drinking for 4 people ?
