Jersey Joe, yeah they don't allow power strips and I know everyone says to bring them.   they are apparently a fire risk.  Last year my kids bags arrived to the room and there was a note for me to report to security where they asked if we could open my bag, and they recovered my power strip.  I was sort of scared but they just took it from me and told me I could get it back when we got off the ship.    Honestly we really didn't need it anyways.  I think some know how to get them through but be careful.
Bring a travel router, sounds like you can still use them and it's pretty handy for multi devices you own.

Security in the terminal is a 3rd party security company.  They hire people oriented to security services.  They are not electricians who can discern one with versus one without.  Safer to confiscate.

You can have a power strip but not a power strip with a surge protector or circuit breaker.
You can obtain a Sunbeam three outlet power strip at Dollar Tree stores for just a dollar.

I pulled the trigger and got the Ultimate for me at $42 a day, refreshment package for my older teen, and classic package for my tween.    yeah $42 a day, and I saw the drink prices here on the blog, I'll be good, and it's not much more, like $1 up-charge for some of the "fancier" drinks.   But my go to drink will be covered within the Deluxe package.
Wow this cruise is getting real.

My wife will attest that I'm cheap and stingy, and if something isn't up to par I write it off completely and never "waste" my hard earned money again.
I've been on Adventure 6 times, and I'm quietly trying to persuade my wife to make it 7 this summer when the kids are at camp.
Adventure gets a big thumbs up from my household.  Ignore the negative reviews, some people just like to complain - me included, sometimes.  But overall, Adventure is tops in my book.  And that southern itinerary is icing on the cake.  Enjoy!

C_Pepper reacted to KLA in Interest in a San Juan/Adventure post dry dock Live Blog 2/22 - 3/3?
    Hello All,
Just trying to see if I can gather some interest here on a live (or live-ish) blog on my upcoming Adventure cruise. We'll be spending a couple days in San Juan prior to our 2/24 embarkation, and sailing on Adventure a couple sailings after she returns from her quick dry dock to wrap up improvements that were delayed by the hurricane in her last dry dock. I feel like questions about conditions in San Juan as well as Adventure are something I see fairly frequently, so if there is enough interest I'll try and do a daily check in here with any information that I have!
We'll be sailing on Adventure 2/24 in an interior cabin on deck 3. The itinerary is St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Antigua, St. Lucia, and Barbados. Right now, our only plans are to take an island tour on St. Maarten (Bernard's Tours), and then our family (there are 12 of us going!) has a private catamaran chartered for snorkeling in Barbados through Good Times Charters.
If there is anything else you'd like to know, or if you are interested in following along something like this, let me know! I've never done a live blog before, but if there's enough interest around I'd be happy to commit to this.

@C_Pepper, welcome to the boards!  We've done our share of Disney in recent years with our girls (tweens) and there are some differences between the two lines.  There was a recap done here not too long ago (I'll attach it) that highlights some of the differences.
I personally love RC.  I have not been on the Adventure since my honeymoon so that was a while ago.  I am not a Disney fanatic, neither are my kids, so the lack of constant parade of characters wherever you go is a welcomed relief.  And the cost difference is huge.  We've done 3 Disney cruises now and each time the cost of one could have taken me on two with RC.
I find the two main differences between the two are the types of theatre shows, and drinks that are included.  Disney's alcohol is priced slightly lower that RC, but then again, you don't have the option of a drink package with them so makes sense.  Also, with Disney, all your soft drinks are included but with RC it's not.  If you purchased the refreshment package for the girls that would include the soft drinks, juices, bottled water, etc. minus the alcohol.  As far as the shows go, Disney's shows are all extravagantly done, while RC is on a slightly smaller scale but still great.
I am a firm believer that a vacation/cruise is as good as you make it.  Read all reviews with a grain of salt.  Some people just love to vent and complain and most times people who have a great time don't follow up and write about it so you are only hearing from the complainers.  Every ship as it's pros/cons.  Like @twangster mentioned, there probably will be a live blog in the next few weeks from Adventure.  Worth it to follow along and ask questions.  And you have found a great resource here in these boards.  People are great here.  Ask away.

Stop right there.  Completely ignore the reviews. Seriously.
There are negative reviews out there of Star Wars, chocolate ice cream, Disney World and more.  The fun of a cruise vacation is subject so many different factors, and a few people's experiences may not remotely mirror yours.
It's perfectly okay to be doing your research on what the ship offers, activities to see and do, etc, but online reviews are like yesterday's weather report...it tells you what happened then, not what is going to happen next.
Go into your cruise with an open mind, plan ahead, and you are more than likely going to have a fantastic time!
