Icon of the Seas has officially left the shipyard
Matt replied to CruisingSteve's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Icon is getting fitted in Cadiz. Art, furniture, crew members, et al. Wonder did the same thing in Marseilles for a few weeks. -
Quantum.....the forgotten class?

The forgotten new Royal Caribbean cruise ship: Why Odyssey of the Seas is worth your attention -
My favorite place for authentic Mexican is Comida Caseras Tonitas: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2015/11/28/brilliance-of-the-seas-live-blog-day-3-cozumel I've also been to Ernesto's a few times, which you can walk to from the cruise terminal: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Abz3jjkknJQVAp947

Aside from embarkation day, there are two types of Adventure Ocean operating hours: port days and sea days. On sea days, Adventure Ocean is typically open 9am - noon 2pm - 5pm 7pm - 10pm On port days, Adventure Ocean is open for the entire duration your Royal Caribbean ship is in port. Once the ship leaves port, it resumes the normal schedule described in sea days.

Star inaugural prices. You better sit down
Matt replied to Jill's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Like @Lovetocruise2002 said, after the Icon prices, I'm not surprised one bit by Star's prices. What's interesting is how the Icon prices fell since going on sale. You can get on the Icon inaugural now for ~$3800 for 2 in an inside cabin. It wasn't too long ago that was about double. With a new ship, it seems a lot of people book just to book it, but end up cancelling before final payment. I'm not saying Star's prices will also fall later, but it's worth noting the trend with Icon. -
Get to the theater 30 minutes before the show and wait in the standby line. That usually works for me everytime I've tried it. There are a lot of no-shows for the entertainment because people gobble up the free tickets now, but then don't actually go.

You can feel movement in a big ship, so don't assume they're immune to it or less likely. That being said, since they are bigger, it may take a bit more motion in the ocean to get them moving, but I wouldn't characterize an Oasis Class being fundamentally different in terms of sway than a smaller ship.

As others said, what the OP is referring to was a one-off situation in Australia. There's no pattern or really any reason to expect anyone with a GTY reservation to expect a similar outcome, in my opinion.

Welcome to the message boards. As long as the old wowband doesnt have a muster station on it, yes, you can bring it to reuse it for free.

You can certainly ask, but not sure if they'll be able to accommodate you. I find in practice people are in flux with respect to seating, so you may not need it.
-
These days, the question is if your ship is sailing at 100% capacity or 104% capacity.

I don't recall seeing prebooking. Usually once onboard, although suite concierge might give their guests a heads up a couple of days before the cruise.

When I went to the UK this summer, I used Orange and it worked in UK and all over Europe: https://travel.orange.com/en/ It's an e-sim, so no card to flip in. Just activate it when you get there and it works.

Just another Thanksgiving cruise live blog...on Celebrity APEX
Matt replied to AshleyDillo's topic in Live Blogs
I'll have my write up on Monday about my experience. I stayed in an infinite veranda (not in the Retreat), but I agree with pretty much everything @AshleyDillo said in her live blog. The ship, and the experience were lovely. I had a great time, but I didn't realize how much I depended on Royal's entertainment and things to do. We were in bed by 10pm every night because there just wasn't anything happening, and in the daytime you'd find very few events. Trivia fans? You can forget about that. I was also really disappointed by the Always Included. I sucked it up and stayed with the classic beverage package, but it was a disappointing experience. The basic wifi you get is useless, so you're forced to upgrade if you want to do anything and Celebrity charges WAY more than Royal for wifi. Loved their buffet, the MDR has the "old" Royal rules where you can make special requests, the specialty restaurants were like Royal's (mostly good, but not cheap). The complete lack of bar staff to serve you a drink if you didn't go to a bar was eye opening. Even in the casino, it was impossible to get a drink. Like all things, good and bad. -
Black Friday starting tomorrow-nov9?
Matt replied to Pattycruise's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
If you're referring to sales in 2020, 2021, or even 2022, those were pandemic years and Royal was indeed offering deep discounts to keep the cash flow going. That's not the case this year in that demand is sky high. In short, they don't need to offer a lucrative sale. This is also a generally good reminder never to try to time a sale, or wait for a sale.
