Cozumel -- Mayan ruins @ Tulum, best tour guide evera! 2nd & close Zip Line Icy Strait Point, Hoonah AK.
Through Royal Caribbean or independently?

What is your favorite excursion you ever took? Was it through Royal Caribbean or a third party?
-
Generally speaking, do you book your Royal Caribbean cruises well in advance (more than 6 months away) or last-minute?

Portofino has the most amazing tiramisu that comes in a edible chocolate cup and a shot of bailey's and something else. It is so good. I did not eat at Giovanni's Table while on Oasis but I did see their dessert cart. OMG! The tiramisu at Giovanni's is in this huge serving dish and they scoop it out on a plate for you. I could have just grabbed it and ran back to my stateroom with the whole serving dish!
I really liked Giovanni's on Oasis. Frankly, same basic food as Portofino. The big difference is Giovanni's is family style. Otherwise not too different

Listen here: http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/podcast/episode-5-freedom-of-the-seas
On this week’s show, we’re going to look at one of Royal Caribbean’s most popular ships, Freedom of the Seas. Having sailed on Freedom a number of times, I know first hand just how great this ship is and I’ve invited my friend Mike Rahlmann to join me to talk everything Freedom of the Seas.
We’re sharing our favorite spots on board, the fun things to do on board and discuss where she sails. I have lots more of your listener feedback to share as well.

Does anyone know if you can get take out from JRs to take back to the room.
Like Tyler said, I'd definitely ask. You probably cannot order it by phone but there's nothing stopping you from going to Johnny Rockets and asking for your food to go.

I agree, I'd like to see Europe by cruise ship too. Airfare cost from North America is really expensive.
-
We opt for late seating also. This time (we just got home yesterday) our table-mates ordered two starters and sometimes two entrees. We had the best waiter, and he didn't mind accommodating us at all.
I almost always order multiple entrees and appetizers. I love trying different foods and cruising is a big part of that

Europe is such an odd market. Royal Caribbean put a lot of their eggs in the European basket and got burned in last few years with less revenue than they expected so they pulled a lot back. And now it looks like Anthem is going to Europe and I agree with Tyler I wouldn't be shocked to see an Oasis-class ship there either in the near future.

Personally I've become of the opinion that I don't want land based restaurants on the ships to make the ships more unique.

You can order from the regular room service menu or from the main dining room menu. It's definitely a great option if you want to enjoy an evening in your stateroom, especially balconies or suites.

Looks like this rumor is moving closer to being a fact: http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2013/09/02/more-proof-anthem-of-the-seas-sail-out-of-southampton

Welcome Gloria! You picked a great first cruise, enjoy every moment of it!

Thanks folks for the info. I have a Nikon that takes much better photos but a quick shot with a cell phone or a point and shoot camera always comes in handy.
Plus on my phone, I have all my music loaded so I use it for iPod mode as well. And like Dave mentioned, you can bring it to port and use on WiFi mode if there's WiFi available.
-
Welcome Dave!
-
Yes, placing the phone in airplane mode will prevent it from trying to use any cellular data or coverage. That is exactly what I do on all my cruises to avoid charges.
-
Absolutely, would love to read that
-
I agree with Don about combining specialty restaurants with formal nights. Makes it easier to pack

Nice, I haven't had a chance to do a Med cruise yet but I'd love to someday

The next one is always the dream cruise--wher ever & when ever.
Can't say I disagree with that notion

Outsourcing these kind of things to other countries is fairly common place in USA. Not that that makes you feel better but it looks like the way things are going
