Royal Caribbean launches "Royal mums and dads" helpline in UK

In:
11 Feb 2013

Royal Caribbean has launched a new help phone service in the United Kingdom that is staffed by moms and dads to help travel agents expand their family vacation sales.

Royal Caribbean is calling it the "Royal Mums and Dads advice line" and is operated by parents who work for Royal Caribbean and have experience planning, booking and taking family cruises with their kids.

The Royal Mums and Dads can answer questions from travel agents about selling family cruising, from what is on offer to keep children entertained, to health and safety questions.

Royal Caribbean assures that the all of the staff have cruised recently and there's a wide range of children ages included from young children through teenagers.

Royal Caribbean head of trade sales Nicki Tempest-Mitchell, who has a seven-year old and a 10-month old, commented on the new service, "Trying a new kind of holiday for the first time can be daunting so, by giving parents the reassurance that they can talk to a mum or dad who has already cruised with their children, we hope to share our favourite family holiday memories and provide all the information that a diligent mum or dad would want to know before taking to the ocean waves with their children. We hope to assist agents in converting a sale by offering our own expertise to reassure clients looking at cruising for the first time."

The Royal Mums agents’ advice line is open between 9.30am and 2:30pm every weekday.

Royal Caribbean offers new luggage service in UK

In:
14 Sep 2010

Cruisers in the United Kingdom have a new way to get their luggage to the cruise ship a little bit easier now.  Royal Caribbean is offering Brits a home luggage collection service, for a fee of course.

Those going on a cruise can have their luggage picked up from their home and delivered to their cabin and then dropped back off at their home after their cruise.

This new service costs £35 per item each way and is available for cruises on Royal Caribbean ships Independence of the Seas from Southampton, Jewel of the Seas from Harwich and Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Eclipse from Southampton.

Luggage is picked up by Royal Caribbean between 24 and 96 hours prior to the cruise departure depending on the address in the United Kingdom.

Royal Caribbean Cruises UK and Ireland managing director Dominic Paul was optimistic about the new option, “We see this service as particularly useful to our guests with mobility issues, large families or those who need to travel some distance to the port.”

On TV in UK: Oasis of the Seas

In:
14 Jul 2010

For our readers in the United Kingdom, check out the National Geographic Channel tonight at 9pm, err... 21:00, for a show about Oasis of the Seas called "World Record Cruise Ship".

Like an entire water-going city, the Oasis of the Seas is the largest cruise ship ever built. But this colossal vessel started on a humble drawing board, when a group of international architects were given a simple brief: to design something completely new.

Premiering on Wednesday 14 July at 9pm, World Record Cruise Ship follows the project from the early planning stages right through to the vessel's completion as the team creates the goliath of all cruise ships with the biggest measurements in the world.

At 360 metres in length and 16 passenger decks high, it can accommodate 8,500 passengers and crew members at the same time.  And to ensure that guests are afforded the most luxurious stay possible, the team had to conduct rigorous tests to ensure that every part of the ship passed the catalogue of strict environmental and safety tests needed before the maiden voyage.

Dwarfing all other cruise ships, prepare to join the crew and set sail as this self-proclaimed 'architectural marvel' takes to the water.

Azamara Cruises, a Royal Caribbean subsidiary and specialty cruise line has released its 2011-2012 brochure which features 57 new ports of call. There are lots of new itineraries and options to choose from, but Royal Caribbean seems to have high hopes from its cruise business in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Royal Caribbean Associate Vice President and General Manager for the UK & Ireland, Jo Rzymowska said: “The UK and Irish Market is demonstrating great affinity to the revamped boutique cruise experience and we’re looking to grow the volume of guests from this market sailing with Azamara Club Cruises throughout 2011.”

Royal Caribbean has already been sending lots of its ships to Europe and given the potential in growth that Rzymowska cited, more could be on the way.
