Crusinjunky
Need some hotel recommendations for Vancouver. We will be arriving a day early and would like to be close to the port but also in a good area to do a little sightseeing, exploring, and/or eating within walking distance. If all of that is possible within the same area. Thanks.

Good price for the area, close to great restaurants and sightseeing. The bus to go to the suspension bridges was right at the hotel. It is called blue horizon hotel. AlohaLivin
I can tell you one we loved and stayed a week - the Landis Hotel and Suites (request one renovated and high... what a view!). We wanted a 2 bedroom and 2 bath - it had a kitchen...huge, amazing price and the nicest manager form Egypt. Lovely man (ok, and seriously handsome). Centrally located too, we got a taxi only once (and of course a ferry to Bowen Island). If you are staying only 1 night, you may want something smaller and even closer. But if you decide to stay and see it, do consider this! The Fairmont Waterfront Hotel was nice years ago when we visited and is still very highly rated. Right now it’s about $200 a night, but that will be higher in summer of course (I didn’t see a date in your posting). The Hyatt Regency is now about $150 and the Blue Horizon (more boutiquish) runs about $120. Nothing very cheap in town, but get closer to the airport and you can find two good Holiday Inn’s with a free breakfast (but no sightseeing). Enjoy! arebee
If close to the port is what you want, the Pan Pacific Hotel is closest. All you do is take the elevator to the bottom and you're there. Don't know how much it cost. We were at the Fairmont hotel on west George St. (not water front) in September for a conference and its only about 6 blocks. We pulled our luggage to the port with no problem, its was all down hill. There are plenty of places to eat and do some exploring. They take most major credit cards (except diners club) everywhere. We never changed any money. DRLPP
Just my two cents: Not recommending a specific hotel but when we did our northbound Alaska cruise a few years back, we overnighted and we did a precruise morning tour from our hotel, thru RC, that included them taking our luggage to ship as we did about a 4 hr tour of Vancouver. There was a list of 5 or 6 hotels for pickup, ours was a HIE. Great tour, no hassle and next we saw our luggage was in our cabin.
whitsmom
We stayed at the Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel. Very nice hotel and no too far from the port. One of us was using a knee scooter and needed a van-type taxi. The hotel said that would not be a guarantee so we paid the hotel driver $25 cash to drop us off at the port. markinct

When we visited, the Pan Pacific started at around 350-400 per night. Pricey, but a lovely hotel that is close for sure. The Fairmont is closer to the area where we stayed that week I think - any location downtown is close, definitely another good option,
