Loriann
We will be in Falmouth for the first time, and considering an excursion that has the option of lunch at a place called Scotchies. I'm wondering if we should do that, or skip it and have lunch closer to the ship if there are good options there?
twangster
I like to do an excursion at Falmouth. I don't find this port to be great for self exploration.
arebee
You might not want to venture outside the gate in Falmouth. They are very aggressive.
melski94
Outside the gate can be very aggressive so I wouldn't venture far. That being said Falmouth still has our all time favorite excursion so I wouldn't worry about leaving with a tour or private driver that you vetted prior to your cruise. We've eaten at Scotchies on our excursion too. Very good jerk chicken however every driver and their cruise passengers will be there. UkuleleCruiser
If you are close enough to Montego Bay, check out The Pork Pit. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g147311-d1232835-Reviews-Pork_Pit-Montego_Bay_Saint_James_Parish_Jamaica.html
rjac
I totally agree with arebee above. And, it is just nasty looking. Stay inside the fence, plenty of shops, little places to eat and there's a Marguaritaville also. You also have the option of eating on the ship. Margaritaville...Only if you don't mind paying $25 for nachos Falmouth...my least favorite port. I only get off the ship to buy booze at the duty free. Most of the excursions are at least an hour by the "risk your life" bus rides. I guess I've heard too many horror stories.
RestingBird
Whatever ship you're on will probably be your best bet.
