RCARD Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 We're interested in an Atlantic crossing -- either east or west - - and I'm wondering which ships are smoothest (RCL or Celebrity) and does it matter which direction is best. We're open to either direction or cruise line. Quote
JimnKathy Posted March 28 Report Posted March 28 The bigger the ship, the smoother the ride. It's also obviously weather dependent. RCIfan1912 and Ryan79 2 Quote

At this point, all RC ships are large ships for the purposes of handling bad weather. Nothing really helps with the pitch. The newer the ship, the more likely there's more advanced technology to help with the roll though JimnKathy 1 Quote
Matt Posted March 29 Report Posted March 29 It doesn't matter which ship or route. The "smoothness" is dependent on the ocean conditions and wind. In short, there is no ship or route that is going to be objectively more stable. It's kind of like flying, where turbulence can happen on a 777 or smaller aircraft. RCIfan1912 1 Quote
Biaggio Posted March 29 Report Posted March 29 I find smoother seas on the southern crossings, Florida to Barcelona. The northern route tends to be rougher, say NY to England. Think The North Seas and The Titanic. Quote
