Queen vs Royal King

Great news for me, as i thought we got a queen.  I think I figured out why they call it a "Royal" king instead of just a king.  A normal king is 80" long while a twin is 76".  So when you ush the two twins together you do get the king width but not the king length.  My wife and I shared a queen at her parents house last week and now i am relieved to hear the cruise will be a king.

Do some ships have queens and some kings? I have never noticed a difference in my 10 cruises so far!

I don't think so. I've been on several classes of RC ships and they are all two twins pushed together.  The only annoying this is that you feel the crack in between but it's still way better than a queen size!

Some cabins do indeed have queens, at least according to the descriptions.

Agreed! That's how i got confused.  Read a description once that said queen, but my documents say royal king...and there is no mattress size than when you push two together you get a queen.
