Automatic free class up weeks before departure?

Hi, I am new to the blog, I tried looking for similar questions but didn't succeed so apologies if I missed the answer to the below.

We are due to sail on the Anthem of the seas in around 4months. This will be our 2nd RCCL cruise and we're looking forward to it. We have booked a GTY interior room (to accommodate 2 adults+children) and I confirmed the booking was GTY ZI. I have been accessing the RCCL portal several times booking drinks packages etc..., however recently I noticed something that I am pretty sure was not there before. My booking is now showing OCEAN VIEW #GTY and not just #GTY like it was previously and unlike to the rest of our travelling buddies in the other rooms. Should I keep my hopes low or is it really possible that RCCL just upgraded us from an interior (ZI) to an ocean view (YO) automatically and without us requesting anything so much in advance of our cruise? Thanks!

It has the category on it.  

Quantum class has limited ocean view cabins.  Weird to upgrade someone to this category but anything is possible.

The invoice states ZI-GTY as state room cause this is what I booked. However what I noticed is that since maybe a week or two on my royalcaribbean portal under reservation details instead of only #GTY like before, I now have : 

Ocean View

Hi what do you mean print it out?

I have an abstract of the invoice received upon deposit confirmation (pending the balance payment closer to the date of sail). And a screen shot of what is showing on my portal. Is this strange that the class is upgraded without asking for it and complimentary so much in advance of the cruise? Does it mean maybe the cruise is not so fully booked or maybe because we will have an occupancy of 4 maybe there are no interior cabins fitting 4?

Thanks, usually I get an updated invoice as soon as I do a payment and since I have booked through a travel agent, I believe the next invoice to be received would be following the final balance payment which is due in around 2months. I'll keep my fingers crossed 🙂

Ask for a new copy.  Tell your TA you can't find it.

thanks, for now it's mostly a curiosity to see out of your multiple experiences with RCCL if this is normal, really and truly I booked and was mentally prepared for an interior room this time 🙂 thus I will keep my expectations as such and will have a look at the invoice once we perform the final balance payment towards the date of sail 🙂 thanks for your help

I would suggest you call the toll free number, give them your confirmation number, and ask them to send an invoice. Don't explain any of this. I have had crazy casino codes appear out of nowhere- they do change for apparently no reason.

Side note- I am sailing to Norway on Anthem this summer with my two youngest children and have repriced several times. Just a week or so ago I saved several hundred dollars by making a 10 minute call. On my sailing I did notice inside cabins are  'sold out' with inventory remaining in other categories.

Hi, I just wanted to give you an update on the topic. So few weeks ago I noticed that two of the 3 linked guests reservations were also showing Ocean View and no longer just GTY. Having done the check-in and downloaded the boarding passes I could notice the deck. Three of the 4 bookings have been assigned Deck 3, which is basically all ocean view and that is the reason why I guess we didn't get an interior ZI stateroom? I hope these rooms are not too noisy and we enjoy our "class-up"?? Unfortunately the other ZI-GTY reservation linked guests have been assigned far away to an interior stateroom on the 10th deck. When I checked with RCCL about the chance of having them also moved to deck 3, unfortunately this is not possible as the ship is apparently full. In addition I was told that the interior virtual balcony on the 10th deck is considered as an upgrade also from the purchased ZI-GTY.

 

Just want to know your thoughts on the above and deck 3 in particular? Thanks

Deck and cabin location are personal preference.

Personally, that's the last place I'd want to be b/c it's so far away from the higher decks where we spend most of our time.

Others may love deck 3 for any number of reasons... less motion, close to the casino, close to the MDR, etc.
