The Fox
I would like some input on cancelling/transferring a cruise. 3 day on Allure GTY Balc, Feb 23, 2024 4 day on Allure GTY Balc, Feb 26, 2024 $200 deposit on each cruise (Total $400 invested so far. Final payment due Dec 10.) Hindsight is really great. After thinking about this, we realized each individual cruise would be as much as we would pay for a 5-7 day cruise. These are the options I have thought of: Cancel both – lose $400. Transfer both – will cost $400 more? Transfer one, cancel one – will lose $200 and cost $200 more. Downgrade to Ocean View Rooms. (Husband will not stay in inside.) Are there other options that I have not thought of?
Peter D
Leave your husband home and get inside cabin If you factor in the loss of deposits into the cost of a different sailing date/ship, then you will see the true cost of changing. If it were me and I saw a different sailing/ship, this is how I would rationalize it. As a side note, downgrading may allow you to pick a room at the same price. Staying in the same room for a back to back 3 and 4 night cruise is nice, and the GTY balcony almost certainly will not be the same room. tingtang

Then don't do anything and keep the 2 short ones B2B PPPJJ-GCVAB
Ampurp85
So I think I am confused. Are you saying that one of the shorter cruises cost more than a 5-7night or that combined they cost more? If the former is the case, I think it might be better to do the full math. If a 5/7 night is 1000s less then it would be better to change your sailings.
The Fox
Combined they would be more.
AshleyDillo
The $400 is a sunk cost regardless. If the cost of a new 5-7 night booking is $400 less than the total of the 2 short legs, it may be worth it. ChessE4
