caitlynambrai
We are going on Ovation later this month ( I think the cruise is sold out, FYI). What are the chances that there might be specialty dining "sales" or discounts while on board? I know this used to happen in the before times, but does anyone know if it has happened recently? Ampurp85
The discounts and sales will depend on a lot of factors. Firstly, the first day might be the only time you will see someone trying to sell anything in regard to single lunches and dinners. Do not anticipate any dining deals on the UDP or 3N package. The discount for any restaurant a la carte on CP is still going to be cheaper than any onboard sales and guarantees you a spot. caitlynambrai and Ryan79
Bmac
We started cruising again right after the restart in October of '21. We did another cruise in February of '22 and they had staff walking around trying to book reservations at the specialty restaurants and the discounts were pretty good they were doing chops for $35 but on our last couple of cruise they haven't been doing that. The specialty dining doesn't have discount specials as often as the drink packages do. So I would guess booking specialty dining on the ship will be full price. smokeybandit
Yes, it'll be "discounted" at times on board, but rarely less expensive than purchasing it beforehand.
WesKinetic
It still happens occasionally, but (at least from my experience) definitely seems to be less common these days. If specialty dining is something you know you want to do, I would certainly recommend booking ahead of time and not taking the chance. Pattycruise
My observation, the larger ships aren’t offering anything the smaller ships with a majority of older passengers will likely offer something. If your larger ship has a majority of older passengers you might find some “deals” but typically it’s no better than the cruise planner special. mrtran
We have approached the different restaurants and asked for a discount onboard - we usually get 20-30% discount. fireclan and caitlynambrai 1
