Jds1992
We are going on the Western Mediterranean Cruise in May 2023. We are planning on taking either the express train or bus to Rome from Civitavecchia then going on our own. Does anyone know what time the train arrives in Rome & what time it leaves Rome to head back to the ship? We are trying to schedule some activities. Also would the bus be better than the train. Trying to maximize our time.
ChessE4
Saw a post about someone finding schedule online. Try searching this blog. Believe family took cab or shuttle to train station. There are local trains and Express trains. Jds1992
KristiZ
Welcome to the boards! I like to use the Rome2Rio website to start my transportation research in a new location. It will give you an idea of costs and schedules. Jds1992, stevendom57 and ChessE4
Carlos A.
This could help https://www.civitavecchiaport.org/how-to-get-there/ I wouldn't take a regional train, they usually are very crowded and take longer to get to the port. Intercity or Freccia Bianca are your best choices. "from Rome Termini to Civitavecchia the cost of a regional train ticket is €5.00 (about 1h20), an Intercity train costs €11.00 (55 minutes approx.), for a Freccia Bianca train the cost is €15 (45 minutes approx)" Jds1992 and ChessE4
teddy
Here's a link to Trenitalia's website. Plug in your stations/times and you can see your options. https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html Zacharius, KJones and Jds1992
KJones
Take the train. TrenItalia is the best place to look at schedules. You can even book ahead of time to (sometimes) save money. ChessE4 and Jds1992

Other websites may or may not be accurate on times.* * - I mean, it's Italy, so time is always just an idea anyways Jds1992 and teddy
LG7
I’m curious, did you end up buying the express train ticket through Royal? Do you remember what time you roughly got into Rome?
Jds1992
We ended up buying the Express Ticket to Rome through Royal Caribbean. Got a good sale price on it. We arrived at San Pietro station at @ 10:00 Am & our return train to the port left at @ 4:25 Pm.
