amypmom23
Did anyone get a cabin with a virtual balcony? While some reviewers really haven't liked them, we had one on Harmony before and loved it- way cheaper than an ocean view cabin that time, with full length view rather than just a porthole, and you could see out but didn't have to worry about anyone seeing in, in port or whatever- but on this cruise, the cost difference was too much and it wasn't on the "bid to upgrade" list. amypmom23
When we booked our excursions, the only thing RC had in Florence was the Pisa/Florence tour, which we booked even though we didn't want to go to Pisa, because we really wanted to go to Florence. But when I looked just now, they have a bunch of things that are JUST Florence, so we switched to the Historical Florence & Accademia Museum (where you get to see Michelangelo's statue of David & other Renaissance art) instead. PPPJJ-GCVAB
I’m excited for all of you on this cruise! Since mine is the 2025 crossing…this one is where I am hoping to grab lots of ideas, opinions, packing tips, and do’s and don’ts! Ship details, excursions, weather, sea conditions…oh and one of my current questions….parking while gone for this length of time? That’s not asking for too much…is it? I'm used to caribbean cruises, so I know this will be different. Question for those of you that have been to Rome. We will be on foot exploring and I always try to stay hydrated, which means bathroom breaks. Are there public bathrooms? Do you have to pay and if so, must you have to have exact change? MorganH
The ones I went to were either €0.50 or €1 unless you were in a museum like Vatican Museums or Borghese etc, then no charge. Yes, exact change is needed as most do not have an attendant. Some have turn-styles or various payment slots. I hope this helps. Definitely no attendants at the bathrooms making change. And you'll need exact change to enter. I've mostly seen €1 fees. But I've never actually paid to use a bathroom in Rome and I've been there a couple of dozen times. I generally make sure I go the bathroom prior to leaving the hotel. Will use the bathroom at wherever we stop for lunch (a couple of times during lunch), use the bathrooms at museums, and if I had to go the bathroom and was at the train station, I would just wait until I was on the train and use the free toilet on the train. I think that the only time I actually paid was in a small town in Umbria and the folks in our party weren't ready for lunch and there was no museum, etc. so we paid to use a filthy restroom that wasn't supplied. In museums, the bathrooms are definitely gendered, but in small restaurants, it’s possible to have one bathroom for both genders or perhaps a couple of stalls and communal hand washing area for both genders. There are a lot of cool things in Europe, like great train service and food quality, but bathrooms are not a strong point IMHO, but definitely okay. lost little boy
