Rationale used for MDR floor (3, 4 or 5) and table assignment?

Mostly it will depend if you are MTD or not.

On Oasis, I was told the larger tables (and larger parties) are on Deck 5, with 2- and 4-tops being on the lower decks.

honestly this makes sense because we are usually a twosome and prefer to dine alone so we're always on the low deck.

Look at past cruise compasses. Typically Early seating (5:00 traditional) Decks 3, 4 & 5. MTD starting at 6:45 Deck 3, Late Traditional Decks 4 & 5. YMMV

I noticed on Liberty that everyone at our table was also from our hallway. It was like 4 rooms in a row and we were all seated at the same table.

On my August sailing on Oasis they told us the central area of our dining room was all D and above.  I don’t recall which deck we were on, and not sure if that was a joke!
