not easy being green
We are going to be taking a cruise this year (hopefully) to Alaska and Canada, question that I have since you are close to land for this trip is it worth getting the internet package or will our phones most likely work as normal? Any help is greatly apricated Thanks in advance
Matt
As someone who values being connected as much as possible, it's better than no connection, so I think it's worth it.
JennaRCB
You might be close to land for a lot of it, but not necessarily close to civilization (when sailing through the Inside Passage, glaciers, etc.) so I wouldn't guarantee on having phone service outside of the ports! twangster
Most Alaska cruises have long ports stops, much longer than a typical Caribbean cruise. Most US cell phones have included coverage in Alaska and now some include Canada as well so coverage while in port is very different to a Caribbean cruise. On sea days between ports and at night once the ship has left port is when you'll most likely need a Voom plan if you need to be connected 24 x 7. Also, inside cabins often can't get cell signals due to all the metal of the ship.

Only a couple of time did we have to put our phone in airplane mode. It was a pleasant surprise.
