Traveling Mike
I have read lots of places that I can change from a refundable deposit to a non-refundable deposit down the road but what happens to the price of the cruise. I book a cruise today for November 2023 with a refundable deposit and next year I am able to finalize my plans and can switch to non-refundable; do I get to keep my lower price if the cost of the cruise goes up or do I pay the price of the cruise at the time of the change? SpeedNoodles
You'd only do it if the Non-refundable fare is lower than the refundable fare. Often it is not if you booked well in advance. That's the only reason to switch from a refundable to a non-refundable fare. Otherwise a refundable deposit is much more advantageous. You pay the prevailing non-refundable rate at the time that you switch. WAAAYTOOO
twangster
A lot of times cruise fares go up over time and the current NRD rate becomes higher than the refundable rate I booked originally so I leave it alone. Sometimes the difference is so miniscule it doesn't warrant making the change. Might as well enjoy refundability if it's only savings a few bucks.
