readytogo
We have booked a Cruise on Freedom of the Seas departing 4/24/16. This is my first time cruising with Royal Caribbean, I have cruised 6 other times on CCL. 1st question: On my past cruises with CCL I have pre-ordered a bottle of Crown to be delivered to our cabin for my husband. I looked in the gift shop to do this on this cruise and couldn't find liquor just wine. I called customer service and the girl told me she thought I could order it at the shop on the ship and have it delivered to the cabin. I have read that all liquor purchased on the ship would be held until the end of the cruise. Was I misinformed? Can anyone clear this up for me? 2nd question: On the drink packages that include bottled water. Can I order a bottle of water when I order a frozen or mixed drink. I am a heavy water drinker and like to keep a bottle with me even when I am drinking frozen drinks pool side.
Todd
I know that guests in suites have got full bottles for private parties within their suites. But from what I have been told you cannot get full bottles for drinking during the cruise unless in a suite. While the drink package says one drink at a time I have never seen this really followed or enforced. One thing you will find with Royal they seem to have several polices; the published policy, the ships policy, and what the staff is doing on that day. I think this is what you're looking for: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/royalgifts On the drink packages that include bottled water. Can I order a bottle of water when I order a frozen or mixed drink. The bar staff is pretty loose with the bottled water and I've seen and experienced many instances where one person with a drink package gets an alcoholic beverage plus a bottle of water. lhm0204
readytogo
Matt Royal gifts is where I started my research....they show only wine or champagne. So I called customer service, she didn't know so she called Royal Gifts and they told her I could purchase from the shop on the ship and have it delivered to the room. I explained to her that I thought all liquor purchases from the shop on the ship where held until day of departure. She assured me they said I could do it. Then I read this on the website question and answers: How can I collect my onboard/liquor purchases - Royal Caribbean International Print This Page Q: How can I collect my onboard/liquor purchases? A: Liquor purchases made onboard or onshore will be delivered your stateroom on the last night of the cruise. So I am confused and we have just decided not to worry about it and make other plans. It is not that big of a deal it is just my husband likes to make a drink and sit on the balcony while I get ready for dinner.....it keeps him occupied while I primp....lol We will just have to stop by a bar on the way to our room to get ready and get him one. Thanks for the info on the water.
Matt
I would bet money any liquor you purchase onboard will be held until the last night of the cruise, regardless of if you buy it from RC or on shore. So you are correct in that assumption. Royal Gifts will allow some liquor (mostly wine and champagne) to be pre-purchased and delivered to your room. Outside of Royal Gifts, I am not aware of a means to do what you are asking.
readytogo
Thanks to both Matt & Todd for your replies. I guess we will mark that one up as a very nice Carnival perk. I think we are going to go ahead and spend the 404.74 ea on a drink package then.
michelle
Hi and welcome YES _ any liquor bottles you buy at the Duty Free shop is kept by them, and they deliver it later in the day last night of cruise so you can walk off with it - they track this too. Same with liquor you buy at the ports Matt is right about water, they are good at giving you water bottles. Not sure when you sailed with Carnival, but their policy is the same? but things change all the time - Wine and Champagne, one per person is allowed in carry on's Happy Sailing
readytogo
Thanks Michelle, I just received an email from RC answering my email question from a week ago confirming what I thought was correct. I think the girl at customer service didn't understand and gave me the wrong information that had me confused. We sailed on Carnival Splendor last April. Carnival allows you go to online to the Fun Shop and order in-room beverages to be delivered to your cabin, they have can drink packages, wine, champagne, and liquor packages. I usually order the "Crown Royal Mixer" which is a bottle of crown and 6 can cokes for 90.00. We purchased the FTTF so our cabin was ready when we boarded and the Crown was delivered shortly after our luggage. Since RC doesn't do this we are going to get the drink package. He will just have to find a bar close to the room while I get ready for dinner......lol We will adapt and overcome! Glad to hear about the water. :) I'm looking forward to this new adventure on a new cruise line for me.
RobWhatley
I'm sure you'll have a GREAT time........and won't have problems finding a bar close to the room. ;) We enjoyed our drink packages on Brilliance of the Seas this past January. Have a GREAT trip and most of all, have "fun". ;) OH BTW. When we boarded the ship at Cozumel, with 2 bottles, they took the bottles prior to boarding and didn't give a receipt. I thought that was a little strange as we paid quite a bit for the bottles. I'm turning them over and NOT getting anything in return. He assured me we'd get the bottles evening prior to departure. We did. :)

Although I have never done it, I would think you would be able to order your Crown and Coke through room service and never have to leave your room to look for a bar. Order a double and you can take all the time you want getting ready.....I m sure you will have a wonderful time....Mike
jticarruthers
I don't think room service provides alcoholic beverages, I have never tried it but pretty sure its not included.
