Bongo1
Can anyone tell me if Freedom of the Seas docks at Havensight or the other dock in St. Thomas? We're wondering about renting a car for the day and I know Budget is at Havensight. (I used to live in St. Thomas many years ago and would love to go see my place and explore the island. I'd also love to get to St. John but I"m not sure we'll be able to do both.)
WAAAYTOOO
When we were on Freedom in April we did NOT dock at Havensight.
twangster
Royal tends to dock at Crown Bay unless CB is full, at least in my experience. MotleyCruiser
Bongo1
Thank you. I had not counted on Crown Bay. A disappointment to be sure.
twangster
The two port areas are operated by different companies. I suspect Royal has better terms or rates with Crown Bay.

Last time this question came up someone pointed out there was hurricane damage that may not have been fully repaired at Havensight.
twangster
Just now, ChessE4 said: Last time this question came up someone pointed out there was hurricane damage that may not have been fully repaired at Havensight. Not an issue. After St Thomas was reopened following the storms I was on Anthem into Havensight. CB had an Oasis class and a leased ship that was housing relief workers so CB was full. Havensight is 100%.

I've wondered about that. It makes sense. Broke my heart seeing all of the damage on the news. We've been trying to get back there. I figured the least we could do was spend some money there! Do you know if there is a car rental place in Crown Bay? I'm a lot more familiar with the area near Havensight and that side of the island. twangster
I haven't put a lot of effort into renting a car at CB. I used to fly to St Thomas often before moving there for a spell. I rented at the airport. Looking at Google Maps I see a few car rental places but they are a 10-15 minute walk. Looks like choices are Budget, Dollar, Thrifty, Discount, Premium and Economy. Note: some state in the contract that you can't go to St. John's. They drive on the left in St Thomas but cars are left hand drive. Just a heads up, it takes practice getting used to driving on the other side of the road.
MotleyCruiser
Quick tip if you go to the shopping seminar. ( my wife is a port shopper and I like to go to the seminar. it gives you the quick lesson on the port) The shopping dude will give a place to meet (Boleros on HOTS), his staff will escort you off the boat QUICK, get you to the front of the line for ferry tickets, and a $1.00 off each ticket you need to go to get downtown. the ticketing area was a cluster the day we were there. KathyC
This may be old news to the OP @Bongo1 now, but I found this while searching for where my ship was going to dock: https://www.vinow.com/cruise/ship-schedule/10-2019/ We want to take the ferry to Water Island, but it leaves from CB so I wanted to make sure we weren't docking in Havensight.
