Suites

Recommended Posts

I just realized while surfing around the website how much the suites cost as opposed to what I thought. I think maybe I had seen a TOTAL cost and misunderstood it as being the PP cost. And then, after explaining it all to the Mrs, and showing her the BATHTUB, rather than that shower tube, she's all for it LOL. And as you enter more guests into the same suite, the PP cost starts to really come down. Not to mention the larger OBC's, free stuff and double points. So,, all you suite folks, tell me how great the grand suite is. Is it as great as it looks in pics ? How about the owners suite ? Big step up ??

I feel that the suite upgrade is worth every penny. I have not booked an owners suit before but I have seen them and they look awesome ! Besides the much larger cabin, the suites perks make the experience so much more.

Just the gold card alone is worth the money. The upgraded balcony furniture makes the balcony space so much more useful and having the ability to book room service from the nightly MDR menu is so nice.

Having a reserved area in the theater, ice show and Aqua theater means you don't have to arrive so very early just to fight for a decent seat. I have never used it, but there is a reserved sun deck area on most of the ships so you don't have to fight tor a deck chair. Unfortunately, no private suites pool like with NCL...hopefully something for the future.

On debark, the concierge personally escorts you down an employee elevator and there is a priority line to customs so you do not have to wait in that long, winding line.

There are some behind-the-scenes tours that are worth the effort and these include a bridge tour which has been eliminated from many of the other tour packages.

We have used balcony cabins starting on our first RC cruise on the Voyager in 2000. Many RC cruises later our TA talked us into a Jr. Suite on 12 day Med cruise on the Mariner in 2012. As we really enjoyed the Jr. suite we used them on the Navigator and the Allure.  Our last cruise we jumped it to the Grand Suite.  If your goal is just more  room I would choose the Jr. Suite.  It has the full bath and walk in closets with plenty of space to get around also you get double cruise points in the Jr. Suite.  We turned diamond members on the last cruise out of San Juan and enjoyed the Grand Suite.   In the long run I m not sure it was worth it.   Being a diamond member there wasnt that many advantages having both.  We spent more time in the Diamond Club than the suite club   Just an opinion,  you know what they say about opinions.

We stayed in our first Grand Suite in April. It was definitely a splurge for us for our wedding cruise. We absolutely loved the extra space! It was nice to be able have our wedding party over for hors d'oeuvres and the use of the concierge to coordinate such activities. As much as we enjoyed it, we do not believe it is worth the cost for us to do again. We really don't use the concierge or the lounge that much, and although the dedicated seating in venues was nice, we inevitably are cruising with others or meet new people who are not in a suite. So we end up seated with them rather than the area reserved for suite guests. We have found that the Junior Suite gives us enought extra space and the double points. I'm sure even the cost of the JS seems a waste of money to some. All a matter of perspective.
