  1. The daily gratuity charge is $13.50 per cruiser per day (unless you're in a suite, then it's $16.50 per cruiser per day). You can pay this when you book or if not a daily charge is added to your onboard account when you're on the cruise
  2. You no longer have to prepay gratuities for My Time Dining. I've recently booked directly with Royal Caribbean for June 2018 and have MTD and will pay tips when on board. I don't know when the policy changed Sarah
  3. I don't know which ship you're sailing on but at The Next Cruise Desk I've noticed that they have a diary to book people in for specific appointment times - then you shouldn't have to queue to speak to someone Sarah
  4. Thanks Matt - I'd missed that
  5. If you forget to return a towel I think the charge is $25 per towel!
  6. I usually do fixed dining, first seating in the MDR. My cruise in June 2018 is the first I've selected to have MTD & now I may not get to experience it!!
  7. I take a short extension lead with 3 sockets with me. I've not had any problems with this. Pack it in my suitcase
  8. On the Independence from the UK there is a kind of afternoon tea available in the Windjammer - it's buffet, so you won't get waited on - but from memory there are scone, cream and jam - plus other cake items - and indeed some hot buffet non-afternoon tea items
  9. I cruise with a friend and we each set up our credit card to pay our onboard expenses; we complete the details at the online check in
  10. When my cruise stopped in Oslo a couple of years ago we did the Hop On Hop Off Bus - it was great and saw so much of the city. There is a stop near where the ship docks
  11. But I would love to try a cruise in the Caribbean and experience an Oasis class ship
  12. I mainly cruise from Southampton so can be quite limiting - but I usually cruise for the itinerary and usually manage to vary where I go. My favourite itinerary - I must confess was a cruise not with Royal Caribbean but with P&O - in search of the Northern Lights to Norway. Stunning Norwegian scenery and we saw the lights! I usually look at where the ship is going - and have only strayed once from Royal! I like the set up of the Royal ships and what they offer cruisers - I'm in my 40s and I'm always entertained when I want to be - so the ship and what it offers is also a big factor Can't wait until next month when my cruise will take in Denmark - somewhere new for me
  13. I've never been that impressed with Rob - he's been CD twice when I've sailed Quite like Joff Eaton - it's him when I sail on Indy in June - like the shoe laces!!
  14. I've seen Baked Alaska the last couple of years on Indy. I believe one cruise line - think it's P&O - used to do a "Baked Alaska Parade" in the MDR!! It didn't happen on my P&O cruise last year
  15. When I've cruised with Royal Caribbean the desserts change each night too, with a couple of items available each night (e.g. ice cream & banana creme brulee)
  16. As a UK cruiser I don't know if I can book and then cancel / change if the price drops - I can't when booking the actual cruise but don't know with extras
  17. As far as I know you only make reservations before sailing for Oasis and Quantum class ships. For the ice shows you may need a ticket - usually advertised in the compass when to collect them so you get a pick of which show time you want to go to. If you don't have a ticket you can wait in a standby line and they'll let you in just before the show starts. For shows in the theatre you don't need a ticket / reservation Hope that helps. Sarah
  18. I sail on Indy in June; Voom is advertised at £11.51 per day for surf and stream (1 device), no discount. Do you think there will be an offer on this? Any idea how much a surf only package will be on board? Thanks, Sarah
  19. I think Navigator is en route back to the UK (or soon will be), maybe this new pricing is connected to sailing out of the UK and the value of the £
  20. I have cruised with Royal Caribbean six times. First time was on the Adventure - fly cruise from Malaga Second time was on Grandeur - fly cruise from Venice All other cruises have been from Southampton (so easy from where I live), and have been on the Independence 3 times and Explorer once. Have loved all the ships but Indy is a bit of a favourite - it is big enough to keep me entertained and at the moment is introducing me to new places. I would like to try a Caribbean cruise and feel a move to Oasis class would be best to try out the wider range of activities on the ship
  21. I love the MDR for lunch - the salad bar is fab and I love the choices on the menu too! I need to go there each sea day to have a change from the WJ
  22. I can only see Surf and Stream for my forthcoming cruise. I had the one device surf package last year which was just what I needed . I don't want to pay £10+ per day for surf and stream when I don't want to use stream! I'm looking out for a "deal"!
  23. I loved Grease on my cruise on Indy last October. Also, back to my first Royal cruise 7 years ago on Adventure a brilliant Beatles Tribute band called The Zoots
  24. Hello Byrnezy70! I too am on the Isle of Wight! My first cruise was on Adventure, I loved it and it has had me hooked on cruising ever since. Enjoy the Caribbean - I haven't been but would like to one day... Sarah
  25. I was wait listed last year for early dinner seating and I got it. They hadn't notified me of the change but when I looked at the online check in screen my time had changed. Good luck!
