  1. We just made final payment yesterday ahead of the Dec 17th deadline. Check in Jan 11th so hopefully not too much longer to wait to find out our room. We're 3 adults, wife and I and we're bringing my mam so would be really nice to get some upgrade but we already agreed that a JS will do us just fine.
  2. I can't answer all of your questions but you should be able to book the Aqua show once on board. The pre booking may be sold out but they keep some availability for on board. When we go on our next (2nd) cruise, it's the first thing I'll do when we board.
  3. Was the location OK? Stand alone or adjoining room? We've a JS GTY on Oasis in Feb...all JS appear to be sold out for our sailing...
  4. Which GTY room did you book and which room did you end up with?
  5. I believe the general consensus is mid ship is best...we stayed mid ship on deck 6 or 7 on Oasis previously and didn't feel much motion at all. I've had sea sickness on small boats like ferry's but none whatsoever on Oasis. Very aft will exacerbate any up and down motion like a teeter totter/see-saw. The middle stays relatively level while each end bobs up and down. The higher deck mid ship may enhance the side to side rolling movement of the ship if any but not to the same extent as the up and down of extreme aft.
  6. Has anyone actually read the fine print with a GTY? Is it any different to that of a full price cabin with regards to cancelling or bumping you off? One would have every reason to believe, though, that a guarantee means you're guaranteed a room on the ship at the least. I'm guessing that it's always a possibility, even for a selected cabin, that if there was an unforseen event like damage or flooding to a specific room and the sailing is sold out that if you selected the cabin which is now out of order then you could be bumped off too...down to bad luck...
  7. Our pending charges are now showing as confirmed charges on my Visa account.
  8. Is this a new general rule that you've seen or just on a specific sailing?
  9. We booked a GTY suite for our next sailing in Feb 24 on Oasis. We are 3 sharing but got it for less than the price of a balcony room. Keep looking at the prices all the way up to D-day and reprice if you can. We are in Ireland and don't actually have repricing available to us. We originally booked a GTY Suite so at the price drop I called and changed room type to a lower class and then straight back to a GTY Suite during the same call. Saved €1,800 between the 3 of us so worth the hassle. Got it for under €1kpp in the end for our 7 night cruise. There are always bargains to be found if you keep looking.
  10. Rhetorical or not, I don't think that's a fair assumption to make. Many in that age bracket are of very limited means.
  11. For our trip on Oasis in Feb 2023, we got great deals on excursions like 50% off some Coco Cay and Labadee excursions. The drinks package only went to BOGO 50% off which we purchased but later cancelled and re booked at 30% off... I think we actually got a really good deal too on an "Anniversary Package", i.e., decorations, chocolate dipped strawberries and a bottle of Moet for €80. I didn't check very hard to see what cruise deals there were but from bried recollection there was nothing out of the ordinary to the deals that pop up from time to time each month.
  12. Hey guys, Just wanted to share with you guys that we saved a small fortune on our OTS sailing for Feb 25th 2024... We booked a junior suite for €1,678pp with 3 people sharing...I noticed, a couple of months later, that there was an option for suite gty so called up and changed to that at a new price of €1,311pp. Then this week I noticed that it dropped further so called and re priced so now we are paying €1,056pp! A nice saving of over €600pp or over €1,800pp. I must note that when I called to do the final reprice, the agent was very unhelpful and stated that there was no way that he could reprice to the lower price. I told him to change our booking to any other room type and then back to Suite GTY and he said it was not possible. I then requested to speak to his supervisor and what do you know, he was able to satisfy my request! The phone call lasted just over 1 hour but I saved €750 in the end which is quite a bit more than my hourly rate!! Keep an eye on prices even after you've booked.
  13. Is that like a group booking or is it something that's on the ship?? I can't remember any line dancing but would be cool to see you guys all putting on a show!!
  14. Hey Nathan, I guess, one thing (depending on whether or not you guys drink) would be to keep an eye out for a good deal on the Deluxe Beverage Package. In line with the advice of Matt on here and from past experience, book at a price you're comfortable with and then keep an eye out for a better price all the way up to the cruise date. We locked in just recently at €87pp per day but I'm hoping to find it at around €80pp, may not happen though. Keep an eye out for the ability to book the Aqua Theatre Show in the app prior to cruising...it may not be released pre cruise so literally as soon as you're on board the ship, connect to the ships free WiFi and book all your shows. They sell out in minutes, particularly the Aqua show and also the comedy show. Be aware of the fact that you can head straight to the pools and bars once on board so bring bathing suits/shorts in your carry on luggage so you can take full advantage... The ship is literally unbelievable and is like a city. There is so much to explore, you'll have an absolutely amazing time. Oh, like the drinks package, keep an eye out for deals on excursions, especially around Black Friday. Last year we got our excursions at 50% off! Also like the drink package, book now if you see one at a price you like and then rebook if you see a better deal. The speedboat/snorkeling trip in Haiti is amazing for the price if you get it for 50% off... Hopefully we bump into you on board in Feb!! Till then, have fun planning your cruise!
  15. We're still only gold and will require one more cruise after this one to even reach emerald status so we're a bit away from free drinks. We had considered booking a GS rather than a JS at time of booking which would have given us some free drinks in the lounge but as were travelling with another non suite room, we wouldn't have been able to take advantage. The DBP is currently $92.33 per person, inc grats, on a buy one get one half price offer which is equivalent to 25% off the base price. I'm considering locking the current deal in now and possibly rebooking if it drops further but really my comfort zone would be closer to $85 per person including gratuities.
  16. I don't think we need the DBP but if it becomes cost neutral or better for us we'll go for it...so far, the prices we've been offered have not met that criteria as opposed to earlier this year. Something I've noticed is that when I've received the email from RC quoting their new offers in USD, when I log in to purchase, the price in Euro (we're in Ireland) is significantly more expensive than the dollar price. It's like they price it different for our market... I'll 100% use a US travel agent next time like we did on our first cruise so that we get the US prices.
  17. Thanks Matt, I've watched almost all of your videos at this stage!! So far, I've not seen a single price I'd be comfortable paying for the deluxe beverage package. Unless it comes down to a price similar to earlier this year I won't be purchasing it. I guess the reason for my post was to see if others had noticed a significant increase in this price...
  18. We can't wait for our 2nd cruise after being on Oasis in Feb earlier this year which was actually our honeymoon. This time we are taking family, so my mam as well as mother in law and aunt in law...all first timers! See some of you there!
  19. Hey guys, Oasis of the Seas booked for Feb 2024 and I've been watching the prices and "deals" for the DBP. It seems very expensive since we went earlier this year, (also February), I'm hoping the deals offered during Black Friday are much better than what are going now... Any thoughts on this?
  20. While I can't help you with their identities, I can tell you that they were on Oasis of the Seas in Feb '23. We found them amazing and we're not even Jazz fans.
  21. Thanks for the responses guys, we went ahead with the JS but will keep an eye out on prices and upgrade deals up until our cruise in Feb '24. Can't wait!!
  22. Hey guys, We (wife and I) are booking a cruise with parents. We have 5 in our party with 2 (mother in law and aunt in law) in an ocean view balcony and 3 of us (wife, my mother and I) in either a junior suite or grand suite. Price difference is €360 per person between JS and GS. Taking into account that we will be purchasing the deluxe drinks package and are travelling with non suite guests, is it worth the cost to go with GS over JS? Ship: Oasis of the Seas Itinerary includes Coco Cay and Labadee. Additional info: My wife and I cruised in Oasis of the Seas earlier this year on honeymoon in a Ocean View Large Balcony. Thanks in advance, Shane
