@NancyP Oh no, I never experienced this cabin....Royal canceled it on us one of our last cancelations. It probably isn't that bad as even on the Serenade the only people who seem to venture up to that deck are ones who are staying on that deck. I would anticipate some but very little loud guests bolting off the elevator, just stuff an extra towel at the bottom of the cabin door! Let us know how it works out, happy and smooth sailing!!

The room is definitely much smaller than a regular balcony cabin. Not enough room for a sofa/desk etc. Very close to the elevators, didn't hear much noise at all, it's one of the rescue boats that's below the cabin rather than a lifeboat so no obstruction at all

@WAAAYTOOO  @Lovetocruise2002 first off thank you for your posts and live blogs I have already learned so much from them. They have also helped to calm some of my post booking excitement.
While I feel like I have a handle of things over all there are a few things I wanted to double check.

Background DW and I have booked our first Suite ever on SY in September in a Crown Loft Suite to celebrate both of our 40th birthdays.  Our bdays are exactly 8 days apart and mine will fall on the cruise.  We are not new at all to cruising just new to this level.  I apologize if any of these questions are repetitive in other places, some of them I have seen answers that contradict each other.  But I trust your answers.
Embarkation: I know if you are star class you avoid the porters is this the same for sky class or do you give bags to normal porters? (Man I already sound sloppy, haha)

    CK/Suite lounge
Is it best to make reservations for dinner or is it OK to just show up?  Will there be a long wait? We like the flexibility.
During happy hour in SL I know there are limited liquors available, are any drinks frowned upon or not allowed? I.E. blended drinks, mai tais .  Also do you know if they can do Moscow Mules?(our favorite drink)
The 11 to 11 drink time in SL, if it is still going on when we sail.  If I run in either from our room or elsewhere on the ship will they allow me to grab 2 drinks to bring 1 to my wife say if she is not with me?

Shows: reserve or just show up and sit in Suite seats? I've seen live blogs where people have reserved shows but I thought this wasn't need because there are reserved seats for Suite guests.
I'm sure I'll think of more between now and September. Thank you for your time and answers.  I will pay for now with a Dad joke.
My dog is really smart.  I think he might even be a genius because the other day I asked him what 1 - 1 was.  He looked up at me and said nothing.

I don't want to scare you out of taking your grandmother, but be aware that the ships are moving vessels. We have been on many many cruises when passengers, especially elderly ones with walking issues, have fallen and had to be airlifted to land because they have broken limbs or hips.  Also, keep in mind that the ports you are visiting are most likely not ADA modified. We discovered that on a recent trip to the UK-lots of steps, rocky or brick uneven walking paths, bathrooms up or down stairs without handicapped toilets.  Do your research and consider staying in and enjoying the ship on port days.

Yes, you can book all of you on 1 policy.  And rates basically are based on age, length of trip, and amount of money you want to insure.   I do not insure my flights as they are just credited back to me if I cancel.    I usually cover the cruise amount and hotels.    I have my travel agent book it for me.  But you can do it yourself.

I book either balcony, jr suite or grand suite.  The larger ships will have many more places to see or visit, more shows, and more eating options.  If you get a cabin near mid-ship you would not have to walk the entire ship length for anything.   And being close to elevator will not having to walk as much.  I personally wrecked my knee and used a cane on a cruise.  It was harder to get around but was fine.  My favorite ships are Oasis class.  And I have been on every single RC ship.  Except Wonder, that I have booked this year.  Whatever you plan am sure your mother will enjoy it.

We travel with mother in law frequently. She's 87 an uses a walker/wheelchair. It's never a problem.
We always get an accessible room on the ship.the airlines allow us to wheel her chair down the ramp where they allow her to walk on the plane.  They check the wheelchair for no charge.

Thank you! My first cruise was on Rhapsody many years ago so I can’t quite recall it but was on Radiance last year. I definitely see the appeal of the smaller sized ships for her. Will check into options in both classes.

When I saw the subject line I thought someone was starting a movement to give money to people over 65. Would reduce my cost of cruising if that happened.

Grandeur has accessible interior and ocean view cabins near the aft elevators on the lower decks.  Also, being an older ship, it is a lot smaller and is easier to navigate. Max passengers is about 2000 vs 6000+ on newer ships. The only downside is there isn’t a lot of activities or areas geared towards kids like slides, flowrider, and sports courts. Not sure how young your “multigenerational” group is, but it may be a good option.  I personally liked my trip on Grandeur and would book it again if I was traveling with my parents.

If you have booked thru a travel agent, they should be able to help you.  But yes, you can get different coverage for each person.
