  1. Good question, Kayeigh. I'm wondering if, when they say "Canned", does it mean the "Aluminum" type material. I know there are some folks, like my father was, that can't put "Aluminum" on his lips. It caused the nastiest sores on his lips and knowing such things beforehand would, like you, necessitate bring a tumbler or get something while on the ship. Of course, if you get the drink package, you get a Coca-Cola tumbler in your cabin when you arrive. Happy sailing to you/all!
  2. I don't know if it is accessible or not. But, I'll be happy to investigate in November!
  3. Yes, not doubt, they do. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/if-need-an-rt-pcr-test-before-i-cruise-where-should-i-go "Below are details about which tests are accepted to board the ship. The type of test you need for your cruise, as well as the testing window, can vary depending on your vaccination status. If you are unclear on test requirements for your cruise, visit our main COVID-19 testing FAQ to learn more. Accepted Types of Tests and Results There are two common types of diagnostic COVID-19 tests A molecular test, also called a PCR test or NAAT test – our testing requirements call this a “PCR test” An antigen test, also called a rapid antigen test – our testing requirements call this an “antigen test" The test must be supervised by a health professional, such as a doctor, pharmacy technician, public health worker, or telehealth professional. Telehealth testing at home is only accepted for vaccinated guests, and only when it is conducted under live video supervision. Learn more about acceptable telehealth tests including our home test kit. You must receive a valid results document from your test provider that includes the name of the lab that processed the test, the lab’s CLIA Lab Number or Certification Number, the address of the lab, your name, the date the test was taken, type of test, and your negative result. This can be a printed document, email, or telehealth app notification. Fully handwritten doctor’s notes (such as those written on a prescription pad) will not be accepted. Minimal handwritten components (such as a check mark on a “negative” box) are acceptable as long as the other required information is printed on the document". Tests We Do Not Accept Antibody tests are not accepted, as they do not detect a current infection. Home test kits that are self-administered at home, and not supervised live by a telehealth professional, are also not accepted. Supervised telehealth tests are not accepted for unvaccinated guests – only for vaccinated guests". Beachy Mama, this is not a response to your post. It's just an opportunity. I post this because there is some confusion, by some, as to what is acceptable for testing and whether a NAAT test is "RAPID". A NAAT test can be either, a "rapid" test or not and is totally acceptable by Royal. Royals page, a portion copied and pasted above, does not mention "rapid". Therefore, if you CAN get a none-rapid NAAT test done completely within the two day restraint (most none-rapid test results USUALLY are not available for at least 72 hours as they USUALLY have to be sent off to a lab), the none-rapid NAAT test is acceptable. If you take the "rapid" NAAT test, you get the test results in 15 - 30 minutes thru "telehealth", it's good as well and makes more sense to use with the time constraints placed on the public to cruise.
  4. I never said that Cunard WASN'T FAMILY FRIENDLY! What I was saying, however so subliminally, was that the inability to make payments over time would/can seriously impact young families on a strict budget and timing. Example: A family finds a cruise they really want in, say, August that actually cruises/sails in Jun or July the following year. It is, what they believe, a great price and itinerary for what they want in a cruise, they put down the minimum deposit of $250.00 per person and then rely on their tax refund, if any, to help pay for the cruise. Or wait for a work bonus which is usually at the end of the year, etc etc etc. Many young families can't afford to pay thousands of dollars, all at once. If a cruise line, I'm assuming Cunard is one of them because that's what you are alluding to and I have no knowledge of Cunard their booking procedures, requires full payment at booking, that eliminates many FAMILIES. Not that Cunard (A Carnival Company) is anti-family or anything of the sort. I'm sure many families are happy for you and the fact that you can afford to make full payment at booking. However, many can't but because of the ability to make interest free payments means they can afford to cruise.
  5. I've never been on a "Group Cruise". When I was a loyal cruiser to Brand X, I though of joining John Heald's (he's the face and voice of Brand X) but never got around to it. Anyway, I'm looking seriously at joining in on a "Group Cruise" in mid-late 2023. I'm considering Matt's, if he has one then, a "Slot Pull Group", or what ever.
  6. I'm looking for a new love. I'm going to have to book a cruise on the Wonder and fall in love all over again. Symphony, there's a new girl in town and I'm very interested in her.

  8. I'm starting to believe that the only side of Royal that works as expected is the actual cruise/ship side of things, which is the most important part, I believe. Can't trust THEIR phone answerers to provide factual/correct information, IT (both the website and the mobile App.) seems to be under maint. or down or have glitches far too often. The good side, The more experienced you become as a cruiser, the less you need the phone answerers, and IT (well, somewhat, IT)
  9. I'm guessing that if there are two ships at CocoCay on the same day, they allocate X amount of tickets to the water park based upon the capacity of the ships and the number of children/young adults are on them. So, one may be sold out and the other is still selling tickets. Which tells me that if the ship that has tickets to sell don't, they may become available to the cruise ship that is sold out. Just my guess, of course.
  10. I think it really depends on who you talk to and when, on the ship you are sailing on. We had the opposite happen. My grandson was super interested in science when he was in his early years in Elementary school. We told him that one of the activity rooms on the ship was a room that included science projects. He was so excited I though he was going to crawl out of his own skin. Turns out, after we got on board, he was a few months too old for that particular room. Man was he disappointed, tears tears tears were flowing which made me choke up. He actually thought he was going to make a volcano or something like that. I felt so bad for him. The people that ran the room would not budge, he was too old for the room, even if just one day. So, I'd be ready for a disappointment, a happy time or have a wade of money in your hand and then have a happy time.
  11. Sounds great. Nothing like combining business with pleasure and enjoying it. Happy sailing to you!
  12. Yep, FLL and Port Everglades are very convenient to each other, Their property lines latterly touch each other's.
  13. My/our first cruise ever, we departed Ft. Lauderdale/Port Everglades on Brand X cruise line. A couple hours later or so the Captain announced that he was turning around because of a medical emergency, going back to Miami. You could tell that he increased the speed. Well, we got a mile or so off of Miami and we slowly came to a complete stop. A boat pulled up next to the ship and they moved a body off of the ship and on to the boat. Obviously, the person didn't make it. Rumor was that it was an older gentleman that suffered a heart attach. Don't know for sure other than the rumor. No one else got off of the ship. I assume that the person was traveling alone. But, I don't know that for sure either.
  14. I'm not sure where the confusion is here: First, Royal Caribbean says that you must get the test done no later than/more than 2 days prior to cruise (my words, not their exact words) (which is if you cruise on a Friday, you can get tested on Wednesday) and the link I posted states what it states, the listed type tests are acceptable. So, what is the confusion, the NAAT is acceptable and it must be rapid because a non-rapid NAAT test would have to be taken outside of the 2 day requirement, even if you do a non-rapid NAAT test, would you want to wait till the last minute, or beyond or may or may not come on time, before embarkation on an email that states that you are positive, possibly? No, I don't think Royal Caribbean is eluding to a non-rapid NAAT test. BTW, they don't say "rapid Molecular test" or "rapid PCR test". They just lump them together as "PCR tests".
  15. I have no doubt that I will enjoy watching the world go by from almost any part of the ship, especially seeing the whales and other wild life. I'm really looking forward to going to Nugget Falls and flying my drone, getting stunning video. Happy sailing to you!
  16. I have vertigo and I get very dizzy easily. There larger ships are much more stable in moderate to heavy seas. Not perfect but better. I almost always got a little to a lot sea sick on Brand X cruise line ships. I've never even had a little sea sickness on a Quantum (to be totally honest, I don't think I've experienced heavy seas on a Quantum Class ship) or Oasis class ship and I've experienced some moderate seas on, at least Oasis Class ships. No, I don't know for sure if vertigo has anything to do with my sea sickness. But, I do know I don't get sick on Quantum and Oasis Class ships, YET/SO FAR! Edited in: BTW, I've tried almost all sea sickness meds, Ginger, patch, pressure point devices, and a few others. No help. Also, I go on a cruise to have fun, not sleep which is what most/many meds that work cause when you take them.
  17. I hope you got your answer. Just in case you didn't, I believe that if you want to accompany your kids (anybody) into the water park, you have to pay as well. I hope that is wrong though. I'd like to accompany my grandkids into the water park, too. Like you, we wouldn't utilize the slides or other activities in the water park, just observe. MY grandkids are of an age now that they can go in without adult/family supervision but it would be nice to observe/photograph. If they weren't old enough to go in without us/parents, I guess tickets would go unsold. Too bad, actually.
  18. I do carry my military ID (retired) everywhere. So, I'm ready. I like how you state, "I've been fortunate to get military discount". Far too many of our brothers and sisters feel entitled to a military discount. I thank those that do give one and move on at those businesses that don't. Thanks for your service. Mission first, troops always!
  19. If they are "SOLD OUT" because of capacity, this is why I mentioned in another tread that if they have too many ships docked/anchored at COCOCAY it would stress the place and long lines would form, not enough room in the pools, not enough chairs at premium locations, etc. I don't see how the addition of an adult only beach with chairs would alleviate the situation, at least not to any great extent.
  20. I just did a quick search in royalcaribbean.com and I couldn't find anything restricting JS guests to night 1 and/or 2. Just dinner only and reservations are required. Yep, I don't know where that comes from. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruise-rooms/royal-suite-class And other pages within royalcaribbean.com.
  21. By the way, I love the Tennessee Smokey Mountains. I used to ride motorcycle a lot, until I developed Vertigo, and The Dragon was one of my most visited places. Love the Smokey Mountain National Park and the Weir Valley area. Oh, when we visit the Smokey Mountains in/near Weir Valley, we take a short trip to Dillard, GA and go to the Dillard House for Breakfast, it's wonderful.
  22. Our next cruise is in May (48 day) on the Ovation from Seattle to Alaska. To be honest, this is my wife's choice. I have never had a desire to visit Alaska, not that there is anything wrong with it, it's just a thing I have, I guess. I spent 20+ years in the Army trying to avoid Korea and Alaska, successfully. But, I'll make the best of it. We have 2 excursions booked so far and probably will book at least one more. I sincerely hope you enjoy your cruise and hope that it goes off without a hitch. Happy sailing to you!
  23. We've, with the exception of one cruise, have always cruised with an old Army buddy and his wife or with my youngest daughter and her family or both, we once sailed as part of a party, in one cabin, of 14 (the 4 bedroom family suite on the Symphony). Sailing with friends/family sure adds a dimension to the enjoyment and experience. We laugh and laugh a lot with friends and family present. When we cruised just the two of us, it was great, too. We actually talked and decided what we wanted to do without outside influence. Not that that is a bad thing. Happy sailing to you!
