  1. I posted this in our Facebook group and thought I would share here too. For anyone living near the Houston area and traveling out of Galveston, there is ONE facility that will GUARANTEE PCR test results same-day if taken before 11 AM. They also allow scheduling appointments several weeks in advance. It is free, and both adults/kids can schedule for the same time-slot. https://emergenttesting.com They have locations here: Cypress, TX (1831 FM 1960) Houston, TX (9703 Westheimer Rd) Humble, TX (20131 US-59) I am not affiliated with them. I just did a ton of searching and found this to be the easiest option regarding the new PCR testing requirements for children. My son is 2, so therefore not eligible for the vaccine.
  2. Also brings up the point of a deeply flawed security system, which is embarrassing for a multi billion dollar company. Even on United flights, I have to answer security questions about my favorite music or whatever and give a secret password answer to manipulate any flights. Makes total sense to have this very common extra security step in place when people are spending thousands on a reservation.
  3. I agree with the OP. As a diamond member, they have given RCI thousands upon thousands of dollars over the years. Clearly, someone trying to scam RCI for their deposit back would not be trying to re-book the same cruise...it is clear that she is being honest and just wants to enjoy her 40th Anni cruise at the original rate, since it was canceled due to illegal fraud / impersonation. I have dealt with many narcissists over the years. The decision to finally go no-contact takes years for most victims of narcissistic abuse. They can be incredibly manipulative, charming, and deceiving when trying to "apologize" for former bad behavior so they can be allowed back in. I feel very sorry for the OP. This cruise industry *could* help her, yet they are choosing not to. Airlines and hotels make exceptions all the time for genuinely extenuating circumstances. She clearly has proof this is an extenuating circumstance with the police records and voice calls stating she canceled due to a granddaughter that she does not have. They could make an exception but are making it clear they care only about the bottom line and not human beings who fund them. A pity indeed.
  4. From these horrible stories, I'm wondering why people are such RC fans! Stealing luggage, not answering emails, stealing credit card numbers. Plus all of the "sales" gimmicks, the website constant issues, the already horrible time I've had with customer service spending probably 20+ hours on the phone to get simple accommodations for my disabled mother (with Carnival, these were automatic and super easy to schedule). I've never sailed RC, and Carnival only twice. We weren't formerly big cruise people but thought with a kid we would start this type of vacation. I'm still looking forward to our first RC cruise next month but very VERY skeptical...and hopeful basic things can go smoothly.
  5. There is one for $10 to go walk around the Port. I believe it's called a bird atrium excursion.
  6. Per the fine print on the cruise documents, only staterooms with at least 1 guest over the age of 21 can carry on wine. They might not give you a hard time about it, but technically they could.
  7. My son is just shy of 3 years old but is also fully poddy-trained. I feel like he is a bit too old for the nursery after looking at the pictures and seeing it is geared toward infants. Does anyone know if the Ocean staff will ever consider an almost-3 toddler that is poddy-trained? I know what the rules state (fully poddy trained AND age 3), but I was wondering if in practice they will consider the circumstances of each child.
