  1. My regular recurring celebrity/fan cruise group for the fans and stars of the BBC TV series Doctor Who has sailed as a group on Explorer Of The Seas for 2 years in a row, out of the Pacific Northwest in 2018, and out of Miami to the deep Southern Caribbean and back in 2019. She's a wonderful ship and I can highly recommend her, and I'm sure she will be even fresher newer and more exciting following the dry dock. I would not hesitate to sail her again, however I wanted a slightly different experience this year, and never having done Oasis class before as a group, we are booked on Wonder Of The Seas for this October. For some ports the larger ships simply cannot get there, and going there on the smaller ships should not be a problem, as Royal Caribbean traditionally maintains them in very good shape.
  2. My regular recurring celebrity/fan group is on this sailing too, if someone looks vaguely familiar, you may have seen them on TV or in a movie some time...
  3. This made me think of a related question - If one does schedule an Uber ahead of time, the night before, a day before, or however long before, does that then exempt you from the possibility of being hit with unexpected surge pricing? Because in theory, you've already arranged the ride, so it should NOT be subject to surge, which is caused by them dealing with the people who did NOT schedule ahead of time, rather than your thoughtful preparedness, or so I would think?...
  4. Here's to hoping they repeat that timetable this week, realistically though I don't expect to see it yet.
  5. More than enough directly there on site, but if you look off site though you will find much cheaper options including a shuttle back and forth. It's a matter of personal preference whether it's more important to you to be done with it quickly and pay more, or save some money and have to deal with more time getting back and forth. If you are staying overnight the night before at a local hotel many of them will also offer free or reduced rates to park your car and leave it until you come back from The Cruise, worth looking into if that suits your specific needs.
  6. Wait till you see the price for a cabana, you'll absolutely $#!t your pants over that! I just bring a towel to lay on the ground, costs absolutely nothing.
  7. I can't speak specifically to either of those, but I can tell you that the one in Roatan run by the Roatan Institute of Marine Sciences at Anthony's Key is by far the best I have ever seen and has the most natural and humane treatment of the Dolphins anywhere, they truly are treated like family there. If your itinerary ever includes Roatan I can highly recommend them.
  8. I couldn't tell you in miles, but it was less than 15 minutes on the little tour bus that was part of the tour package as sold by the cruise line. If you'd like to look into the Institute yourself, here is a direct link to them https://www.roatanims.org
  9. Have a WONDERful time! Just over 10 months until my own group sets sail on Wonder Of The Seas for our next celebrity/fan voyage with an eclectic assortment of members of the Doctor Who cast & crew. www.scificruise.com
  10. I've never done that particular one before, but I would mention that if you're into nature things, if you've ever thought of doing a dolphin encounter ,the one in Roatan at The Institute of Marine Science is by far the best I have ever seen anywhere, with the most natural setting, and the most ethical treatment of the dolphins that I have ever encountered anywhere, they definitely get 110% there!
  11. So far only one on Royal Caribbean that ticks all of my boxes, versus two potentials on Carnival, and one potential on Celebrity. Got me some thinking & number crunching to do, better put on the Brainy Specs...
  12. Yes indeedy, I happened to check directly on Celebrity last night and found a few interesting things, cross checked on Travelocity and they were not loaded in there yet, so yesterday must have been the very first day for Celebrity. Carnival has had their itineraries for December 2024 loaded in for several weeks. I have found something suitable for my recurring Doctor Who group that ticks most of my boxes as a backup, in case Royal cannot meet or exceed what I'm looking for. Did the same thing last year and ended up very happily with Royal on Wonder in late October of 2023, and am hoping for a repeat again this year & this week for the early December 2024 range for our group. www.scificruise.com
  13. Meeee toooo, looking for a gem or two to pick from in early December 2024 as I prepare to select an itinerary for the NEXT of our celebrity/fan Doctor Who voyages, as a follow up to our October 2023 Western Caribbean on Wonder. www.scificruise.com
  14. The original literary Robinsons hundreds of years ago did in fact ship out on the sea, but then of course they didn't have Dr Smith to contend with...
  15. If you are physically up for it I would recommend climbing Dunn's River Falls, it is a very memorable experience.
  16. Yes, they make a terribly nasty cola, Coke and Pepsi have always been better. But you really should try Jolt...
  17. Just another case of the lawyers and the suits ruining it for others.
  18. I was there a few years ago when sailing with MSC. Typical Port, typical excursions, in our case we took a horseback ride through the mountains past a lovely waterfall where you could stop and swim for a while before the return, was a pleasant day.
  19. The 11 night deep southern Caribbean itinerary on Vision Of The Seas out of Fort Lauderdale typically includes an overnight call at Aruba. We did that this year with my recurring Doctor Who celebrity/fan vacation group. I believe that itinerary is still being done through next season for anyone who wants that.
  20. This would have been a perfect opportunity to book with Pullmantour, which was a separate but affiliated line to Royal Caribbean that specialized more in cruises for a Spanish speaking based audience. However they were an early casualty of the covid shut down and went into bankruptcy shortly thereafter. I don't think any other company has really stepped forward yet to fill that niche, hopefully someone in the future may do so.
  21. Sorry to say that I can't help you with any information on that. We ended up missing our flight from Colombia to Spain, found out that no other available flights could possibly get us there in time, and ended up canceling the cruise and doing a week in Mexico instead. Hoping for much better luck at some time in the future, LOL!
