  1. Husbo got the alert, but I didn't . . . we sail on Monday, so it was a bit of a surprise, haha.
  2. I just purchased a one-time coverage, actually! Maybe they don't offer an annual policy anymore.
  3. For months and months we only had a couple excursions for Costa Maya on the website . . . then about a week or so ago (we sail in a week), a TON showed up out of the blue. I think it may be one of those "YMMV, it happens" type things.
  4. So, husb and I are leaving in just under a week for our cruise, and we got the trip insurance through RCL, but now I'm thinking I may want additional coverage. I've seen Allianz mentioned here, and was also considering looking into coverage through USAA (our everything-else insurer). Any recommendations or insights would be welcome!
  5. I would contact the RCL special needs email (anyone want to add the address link?) and let them know -- also maybe talk to the MDR maitre d' on the first day.
  6. Thanks! Last time I cruised (which was my first) there weren't any of these things going on because of COVID. Any idea how much some of these things run? (or will that be revealed once I'm on board?)
  7. So, I'm seeing some fun looking activities on my app: wine tastings, whiskey tasting, build your own bloody mary, etc. There's a note on these that there's a fee associated. Are these boozy fun things covered by my DBP, or is there an extra fee on top of my drink package?
  8. Title says it all . . . if I have excursions booked through the ship and the weather in port is bad enough to cancel them (say, thunderstorms and a snorkeling excursion, for example), will they be refunded, or am I just outta luck?
  9. This is one of the MDR menu changes I'm most excited about, actually! We were on Adventure a year ago, and got back too late for dinner from our Costa Maya excursion, so we ate in the Windjammer instead; it was Indian night, and we had some of the best Indian food I've had (and I live in a place with a plethora of Indian restaurants). So having it on the menu in MDR next month is going to be great -- we're traveling with family, and it will help me avoid eating dinner with them and then going and having second dinner in the WJ, LOL.
  10. I haven't done it yet, but we're signed up for it in Costa Maya in a couple weeks. Not sure when you're cruising, but I'll try and remember to report back afterwards.
  11. So, I'm a weirdo who doesn't like seafood, but every so often I try it to make sure it's still not my thing. I was thinking that on my cruise would be a perfect time to try seafood again because if I don't like it, I can just order something else. On my first cruise (last year), we ordered everything (appetizer, main, dessert) at once at the beginning of the meal. So if I want to try a seafood entree, but might not like it, do I need to order the "backup" at the beginning of the meal, or can I wait to see if I like the first one? Will waiting and ordering a second entree partway through the meal mess up the flow and timing of it? (I'll be dining in a group of 7 people).
  12. We're on this cruise! I was wondering when a roll call would show up. It will be our second; we went last January on the same itinerary, and were supposed to have a group of 13, but they all dropped out at the last minute (Omicron was at its peak). So we're going for a re-do with some of the same original group, and a couple of newcomers. Can't wait!
  13. I pack a small USB fan in my checked luggage for this very reason!
  14. I really like SunBum, and it is reef-safe.
  15. Came here to say EXACTLY this. I found it useful to have my seapass on a lanyard so that I didn't lose it.
  16. I am glad to hear about the reusable bag thing . . . single-use plastics are a major contributor to plastic pollution and plastic in the ocean.
  17. Hello friendly cruisers! We are booked at Maya Chan during our Costa Maya port day on our cruise in February . . . the calendar is showing that we are in port from 12-7, which in practical terms means we'll be off the ship by 1pm (hopefully) and back on by 6pm (no pier runners here!). Is it worth going to Maya Chan for just a few hours?
  18. Hopefully the title isn't vague/confusing. On my upcoming cruise, we have a day in Costa Maya in which we're in port from noon until 7pm; I've got reservations for Maya Chan for the day, and I don't think we'll be back in time for 5:30 dining. Can we go to MDR late and stand in the non-reservations line for MTD people and still eat in the MDR? Or should we make other arrangements for that night? (If it's Indian night at Windjammer, this question is moot, LOL)
  19. For Costa Maya, the Chacchoben ruins excursion is fantastic! When I go in Feb, I'm going to Maya Chan in Costa Maya (3rd party excursion, not through RCL). Cozumel, I enjoyed the "clear kayak/beach snorkel" excursion after our original excursion was cancelled; in Feb I'm doing "three reef snorkel", but can't comment on how good it is yet. I've been told by some diver friends that Roatan has some of the best snorkeling.
  20. We were on Adventure last January, our first cruise, and because of a cancelled excursion we ended up getting money back at the end! We did have the DBP, but did not eat at specialty restaurants, did ALL the "included" things, and had a great time. Same for our upcoming February cruise -- I'm planning on not spending any money once I'm on the ship.
  21. I'm booked on Adventure in Feb 2023 going to Costa Maya and Cozumel . . . Husbo and I are booked at Maya Chan for the Costa Maya day, but we have friends going who want to book the Chacchoben ruins. BUT, the excursions for Costa Maya are not yet up (Cozumel is, though). Does anyone know how far in advance they get posted? Last time we did this, we booked 6 months out and excursions for all the ports were all there. Thanks!
  22. I've only been on one cruise, so my sample size is limited . . . 1. I definitely overpacked. Probably I could have reduced the clothes by half. 2. We didn't go to the MDR for breakfast or lunch at all -- just the Windjammer. Next cruise this will change! 3. I had the DBP, and I didn't order "top shelf" liquors with my mixed drinks. 4. I should have done the climbing wall and the flowrider more . . . our ship was ~30% full and there were no lines at all. This won't be the case next time 5. I never ordered room service breakfast or coffee to have on my balcony. 6. It took us until the last night to discover the Blue Moon bar. It turned out to be my favorite. (Adventure) Other than those (and some of them aren't really "mistakes", per se), I wouldn't change a thing!
