  1. This is the type of direct communication that needs to go to Royal. They should be concerned they are losing customers to other lines
  2. Definitely forward. Note the smokestacks when you board. Then note they collapse downward to fit under the bridge and they will go back to full height a few minutes (maybe 5 minutes?) after passing under the bridge. I used to have a time lapse video of it but deleted it, it was cool.
  3. I’ve stayed in cabins that didn’t have the cooler, I’d have gladly paid for one. And I’ve stayed in cabins where the cabin was colder than the cooler, would they charge less? $1 for each minute with Guest Services=roughly $15 to lodge a complaint!
  4. I do recall seeing an hourly rate towards the end of a cruise but can’t think which ship or port, it was within the last 6 months though. I want to say the hour was almost $20 and I recalled thinking that for almost $10 more they could have the 24 hour internet.
  5. While checking on a flight in the Delta app I read their “important info” section and it mentions renewals are taking over 11 weeks and expedited renewals are taking about 7 weeks.
  6. The headliner entertainer this President’s cruise on Allure was Chaka Khan. I heard Foreigner was on another year. They bring in “the top” cruise entertainers . D+ and Pinnacle had champagne parties. Everyone onboard was invited to Costa Maya port where Royal had taken it over and had free beer and frozen drinks along with a taco bar and churros. (Serenade of the Seas joined us)There was an excursion the President attended and another excursion-different port-where members of the Royal staff were in attendance. giveaways included ;cowboy hat for all, tote bag, can cooler/holder, chocolate. Royal Bisa cardholders received beach type duffel and beach towel. there were 2 balloon drops, they gave away 2cruises as well as future drink packages, rock climbing, spa etc. There was a Q&A in the theater with the CEO. I imagine there was more-can’t think of it. oh, I know what it was. It was the biggest bunch of whiners in the Facebook group. Whiners about who gets what in regards to perks, tickets etc. Whiners about crowding, people’s souvenirs , parties and more whining about the dumbest of things. I wonder if any of those people were able to enjoy themselves!
  7. Next one is June 23 on Oasis out of Barcelona. It was announced on this years President cruise (out of Galveston end of July) everyone ran to next cruise to book it and the prices were ridiculous-I did hear people used their travel agent who had blocks of rooms booked-coincidentally-and those people had a good price.
  8. I make general conversation with them and then ask them the types of drinks they like. If they are vague I’ll ask probing questions. Do you drink soda? Do you ever drink beer? What kind? Or if you could have just one kind of beer what would it be? (After establishing they like beer) I leave the items on the couch with a note with their name and “for you”. Or I’ll leave them set up on the desk on disembarkation day along with their tip envelope.
  9. The Presidents cruise was a few weeks ago, with 550 Pinnacles, 1250 D+/D combined I’m sure it was a bit of an increase from the past and there was an earful given about the lounges so it’s fresh in his mind. Personally I went to the D lounge twice and was able to find seats. I drink free in the casino. I barely use 2 of my vouchers, maybe 3. If I remember I grab the remainder of my D+ drinks and give them to my stateroom attendant as an added tip. Some like soda, some like beer.
  10. I keep seeing this “closed loop is ok” had a cruise that started and ended in Texas and passports were required because we went to Columbia. I’m Booked for a Greenland cruise next month and lots of people are finding out it’s passport only, in fact when checking in there were no options for anything except for a passport, so lots of people having an “oh sh!t” moment . This sailing begins and ends in NJ.
  11. There is no free internet available, even for checking email. you would need to purchase an internet 24 hour pass which you could use on your phone or if a computer is available onboard at a computer. The cost is roughly $29 for the 24 hour pass. In Florida-you could access your email via your phone provider-assuming you can access your email via your phone. Most phone plans also work in the Bahamas.
  12. Great information which adds to what others have said about avoiding AC. It would have been connecting. I see someone mentioned direct flights out of Newark which I can look at. It’s a further airport for me so Im unsure of my ride issue going “that much further”. So now I’ll explore flights to Seattle and the train to Vancouver as well as Newark flights. thank you for your input!
  13. There are small perks at the 340 level, I suppose renaming it as an actual level might make someone feel better, however drink wise-I wonder if they’d add a another voucher….which would mean adding one to pinnacle. Even if a drink voucher is added I can’t imagine it being a “desirable” perk. Personally I didn’t look at their perks as a reason to sail, until they offered double points on the restart after Covid. That plus the cheaper sailings during the restart had me booking more sailings and realizing I could achieve pinnacle quicker and for less investment so it became a mission. it would be interesting to see if they add tiers and what perks they will give. I was disappointed to reach Diamond and find out Royal up took away any chance for a free upgrade -even when they were at reduced capacity sailing.
  14. It is interesting to see that this link says you can, and when I clicked on the seashells link on the side it also said you can. I know you cannot bring sea shells OUT of Caribbean nations. Plenty of people in Aruba have received cash/on the spot fines. When we flew out of there the gate agent for Jetblue was sure to ask us if we had sea shells and then explained how it would cost of loads of money if caught. The secruity at CoCocay and Bahamas remove seashells from passengers too. So I'm thinking "beware" what seems "ok" in our country for import does not necessarily mean it is "ok" for export from another country. https://ask.usda.gov/s/article/Can-I-bring-into-the-country-sand-or-ocean-sediment-from-another-country
  15. I chuckle when the walkie talkie is set to super loud and people feel the need to scream into them in reply. Perhaps a little practicing at home would be beneficial. If they weren't so loud perhaps it wouldn't be so bad having them onboard.
  16. No shows do not give "solo traveler" status. As stated, you will be reimbursed port fees and taxes for the no shows to the original form of payment
  17. Yep. I'm wondering if it's not truly a survey to see alternative suggestions to "help out" D/D+ and Suites but a tool to take away the lounge. Though the saner part of me says he would not post that directly on his page and screw his upp;er tier, he would have the minnions send it out in a survey.
  18. I follow him on Facebook. Not usually a lot posted but I did just see this.
  19. I liken it to the menu change. Many didn’t want it and complained afterwards but they did it. It’s always easy to say “the survey indicated” when the masses are not actually seeing the results. Additionally they may rule out certain survey results as unimportant if they are looking at data such as last time you sailed, how many cruise lines you sail with etc. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a change with Sorrentos.
  20. Was your cruise one of the ones cancelled? Emails went out recently giving options that included full refunds. read the article and check your email. If you have nothing call whoever you booked with Travel agent or if not Royal caribbean) and get this addressed. Choices are due soon https://www.cruisehive.com/entire-panama-canal-season-cancelled-for-royal-caribbean-ship/108335#
  21. If the kids were booked under a kids sail free you won’t be able to swap in adults without additional costs. you will be reimbursed port fees and taxes for any no shows.
  22. Yes. Windjammer closes at 9pm though. The only late night food is Sorrentos or cafe promenade.
  23. Not surprising. When people asked questions on the Presidents cruise-“Michael Bayley forum” that involved a potential to reduce costs etc he would often defer to his “numbers guy”, “crunching numbers” etc. yes, it’s a business-and since there’s record numbers the way we are accustomed to cruising will be changed, not necessary gonna like it. Eventually this will backfire on them. PS I suppose on my upcoming cruises I better start mentioning that I’ve eaten at Sorrentos (have pretty much cut that out) so I can be calculated in their count.
  24. I think you need to escalate this. email the ceo [email protected] keep it short and sweet with dates (names if any) and brief statements. I do t see the need for your appointments with DPS, it muddles the point of your complaint and makes it difficult to understand why it is mentioned. finish with your reasonable expectation as to what you feel should occur based on your complaint. (Ex full refund or future cruise credit equal to the cost of your cruise-or if you be willing to accept either.) BTW Royal cannot keep port fees and taxes so expect a refund.
