  1. @steverk @BrianB I’ll be onboard with you. Not looking forward to the swells. I’ll be one of the green peopleI have my antiemetics packed along with some ginger. Since this port is driveable I might add some summer clothes/pool float in a small luggage but it doesn’t seem we will be able to go south….so not sure I should bother. I can say this, if I don’t bavk a bag of summer clothes we WILL go somewhere warm!
  2. You can carry on a 12 pack of soda/water/type drinks. Better yet, he’s 8-if he’s capable gave him carry it on. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/food-drink-onboard-policy
  3. The “old days” just after Covid it would be to book entertainment immediately upon boarding. . Now that’s pretty much done on the website -about 45 days or so before sailing is when that opens on the website Muster station immediately to scan in-though on some ships personnel may not be in place until 11. (On the way to the ship watch the 2 mandatory videos) main dining room. Ensure your reservation is correct. You can also see this in the app once you connect to ship WiFi in regards to your dining time. I’ve had linked reservations where our tables were in separate dining rooms (Anthem) I’ve been placed at a solo table when I had requested a shared table. I’ve been placed into my time dining when my booking confirmation had a fixed early dining time. So I always check in to see what the situation is. internet assistance-if needed. They can go over phone settings to ensure your phone is set to not continuously drop the wifi. Connect to ship WiFi!! To be able to use the app and chat with others grab a coffee, drink, something to eat and go over the app daily planner and schedule the items you are interested in. Ensure notifications are on for the app and it will send you a notification about 30 minutes before the event. If I’m on an Oasis class ship I sit in Central Park to do this. casino player? I go and take a pic of the points list-to see how many casino points will get a free cruise. I also walk around to see the layout and the games. once we have access to our cabins I unpack my carry on and take a walk down the hallway to see if my checked bag is banging out-if it is I’ll drag it back to my cabin and unpack it. I leave a note for my stateroom attendant in case I don’t see them the first day. 1. Add memory foam topper to the one side of the bed. 2. Which cleaning service I wish to have -morning or night. I don’t typically book specialty dining onboard, nor the beverage package-so that’s not on my list.
  4. I believe every ship does these but there is no facilitator. I’ve been to these where it’s held at the same time as trivia. I’d say it’s like solo travelers are like an afterthought, “ oh yeah-let’s list then to be at the R bar”. But how do you know who’s who if it’s a venue running events, or happens to be crowded due to pre dinner/show drinks? I’d say they are missing out on a revenue stream by not truly engaging the solo crowd but realize they prefer a family in a cabin rather than a solo paying for 2 in a cabin as they are missing the second persons revenue from beverages, internet, excursions etc.
  5. Disregard my extended reply. next cruise can’t help you.
  6. Create an event on the Facebook group for your sailing. I’ve met wonderful people doing that. We would meet for morning trivia )I’m not a morning person but forced myself to go) and we arranged to dine together at dinner. It was nice to have the rest of the day to myself , if I chose to. Some of us would also get together for other onboard activities and shows, and create a group chat in the RC app. Note: the app chat is not all that! (Somewhat unpredictable or reliable)
  7. next cruise only books cruises or open reservations they do not deal with changes Your situation may be slightly complicated and I’m not sure I understand you have 2 comps booked for the same weekend? If your name is on both they will cancel one . there is no penalty for cancelling a casino comp, you would only lose $ on upgraded cabins. assuming you paid for one cabin? who holds your reservation? The comped cruise would be held via club Royale-the “casino people”. Your paid for cruise might go back to the travel agent who was your agent when you sailed and booked-unless you did the paperwork to remove that agent ,if there was one) Id call the casino line (club Royale) to see if they have both bookings and what they may be able to do to help you out, if anything. also you should check Club Royale to see if you have any comps coming up that are usable -you can ask when you call but it’s so much easier if you know your offers when you call. casino line: 1 (888) 561-2234 m-f 8am-10pm weekends are shorter hours but it has not been casino agents answering on the weekends and the staff that handles “regular non casino bookings” are clueless on the casino booking way of doing things 8 am is typically the best time to get through quickly with a knowledgeable employee. If the casino line does not hold your booking they will get you connected with the correct person. offers: https://clubroyaleoffers.com/
  8. Since she is 4 she is still with an adult all day. What drink package do you get? Perhaps you can split a hi-c with her?
  9. Yes. When you board head to any of the locations that book specialty dining and discuss your wishes and they will guide you
  10. I was not privy, and it’s a great compensation- however people do book stays post cruise. Additionally those waiting to get on the next leg of the flight-would be at the other end of where the ship currently is, with some having flown in early to sightsee prior to cruising.
  11. Someone in a FB casino group reported their Radiance sailing out of Alaska has cancelled due to engine problems., they had already boarded when the decision was made. Full refund, FCC and $600 towards air. another person responded that they were on the sailing that disembarked that morning and the ship had engine issues through the night. Next weeks passengers received a “standby for more info” as the ship should be sailing this week to get those next sailers next week from the other end, so it’s unknown if they would have to change their flight to where the ship is currently docked. they report they should hear something by Tuesday. Travel insurance will certainly come in handy!

Im sure many people are wishing they purchased travel insurance and others are glad they did.
  13. Had this happen for my Greenland cruise-it opened about 4 days later, as well as a transatlantic-opened a day later in late afternoon. Could be the itinerary. Keep checking
  14. Adventure last year out of NJ in the fall -9 night to New England/Canada. Couldn’t get over the number of young kids . I thought it was great-clearly they took advantage of kids sail free. Between the older folks with scooters, wheelchairs and walkers and the families with dingle as well as double strollers the elevators were quite difficult to get in and out of.
  15. My MIL booked the family for 10 days with Royal..3day land followed by 7 day cruise. She said the land portion would be exhausting and the cruise would be our break. I’m so glad she booked it like this. The land portion does take a lot out of you.
  16. In the app you can see the check in date. Click on your little profile person at the top or click on the check in button at the bottom. interestingly enough my last check in opened 4 days later than the date noted in the app and it was at 11am. I am waiting on a check in to open that was supposed to be august 30, yet those in England where the cruise originates from have a date of August 31 showing in their app.
  17. Was just at my cardiologist office 2 days ago-half his staff is out with Covid. It’s here to stay. Maybe join the Facebook group for your sailing and you can all discuss positive/negative results….it’s been a “thing” since the restart-even when there was mandatory testing, masking and distancing people tested positive-always convenient when the symptoms happened to start the minute they disembarked. hope your symptoms are mild.
  18. I did book a next cruise reservation and wound up not needing it…super long story. I had no comps in my account to use it on but my good friend did. She booked a cruise with it, the port fees and taxes were used from the next cruise $200, then we cancelled the cruise 2 weeks later and the port fees and taxes were refunded. They don’t trace it back to say “oh this was next cruise it goes back to being a deposit “. There are no cancellation fees on full comps. (Not yet-let’s hope it stays that way!) btw if port fees and taxes are under $200 (happens when I book solo on some cruises) they refund the difference to your original payment form. So when it is a $160 port fees/taxes I’m immediately -well you know Royal-sooner or later/-given a $40 refund. When/if I cancel the cruise I get the other $160 back since it was applied to port fees/taxes. Note:I can’t speak to upgrades-I’ve not yet cancelled a cruise where I had paid to upgrade my cabin-but of course in this example you wouldn’t upgrade a cabin you would knowingly be wanting to cancel. side note:always check your booking confirmation to ensure freeplay is showing as well as your next cruise OBC. Guest services and the casino host can’t seem to fix these errors once you realize the mistake onboard.
  19. I agree on the $2 bill. I watched a bartender excitedly take one as a tip and after the tipper walked away another cruiser asked if he could buy it. The bartender happily exchanged for 2 singles. I’ve read where the $2 bill is not recognized when they do their currency exchange or wire (not sure which) and is thought to be fake in their home country.
  20. I use Allianz and gave an annual policy for my family. I cruise pretty much monthly, so it made more sense for me to do the annual policy
  21. I believe you might, not on this, have been able to combine your offers on the reservation and then you both keep your freeplay. It most certainly couldn’t hurt to call and ask, and if the answer is no, hang up, call back, and ask again. had you purchased 2 next cruise reservations and used one to book a BS cruise offer you had no intention of keeping they would have applied the port fees/taxes and then you just cancel that cruise and get it back. The next cruise reservation is good for 60 days-to keep the associated OBC, otherwise the reservation # is valid for one year. However you will not be able to use it for onboard instant certificates and get the freeplay as that requires a next cruise booking that was booked during the cruise you earned the instant certificate. I’m going to assume you did tables. to avoid this in the future ensure you get your points on the final night. Ensure your table play is “closed out” -which means your points were added to your account since you left the table, it’s not typically done immediately, or even within an hour or two-depends on the out boss. I like to ask nightly what my table points are-if you didn’t want to do that inquire of the host before you sit for your final day of play snd at the end of the night inquire again. If the number remains the same they did not close you out at the table and record your points. additionally you should have your points converted to freeplay-I do kind to slots….I get to see my slot and table play points in one place this way….so I know where I stand in regards to my points and which certificate I will have. just an FYI-next cruise IS open on disembarking day so if you didn’t want to use the app to purchase a reservation (I don’t put all my trust in that) you can buy one before you leave.
  22. I was on a friends casino comp for Oasis. They oversold the cruise and reached out to offer to move us we countered that we were traveling with a family member who paid for her own cruiser cabin, we had not linked the reservations. They let us keep our booking. So while casino comps may be cancelled, the circumstances can vary so the outcome can vary, typically you cannot rebook your comp once your offer has expired. On a side note: you should check your online account to see if you have other offers. Clubr oyaleoffers.com
  23. Check the MDR lunch menu for the apple blossom. I believe it’s served on Day 6, though I’m not on that day.
  24. Guest services and the casino can make change and give singles. Though I have had the casino limit me to $10 singles in a day on occasion.
  25. I’d like the nostalgia of cheaper cruises….somehow I don’t think they’ll do it
