Must Sights in Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca & Provence (Marseilles)
Pattycruise replied to JeffH's topic in Shore Excursions
Marseilles-had lunch in a square. Wandered off to look for a bakery I was told was one block over, didn’t find it so went one additional block and on the opposite corner was a pile of people’s belongings- luggages, knapsack’s, wallets purses-contacts were about 4 ft high-pile about 3 ft wide. I kid you not. I should have taken a picture! Anyhow-mind your items. lots of dummies in the square with purses over the back of their chairs or bags in the floor-I assume the next victims!! Recently walked in the Canary Islands Las Palmas and noted people had purses in laps, bag straps tied to chairs. Smart people!! Sorry, no recollection of what places I visited in Marsailles! -

Brillance MDR formal night question
Pattycruise replied to WCMDEAF's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
I was supposed to be in that sailing but had Greece/Barcelona Barcelona/ Miami booked and then it left me 2 nights somewhere before boarding Brilliance. I decided it was “too much”-especially since I had gotten off the Panama Canal cruise a few days before heading to Greece! Glad I cancelled Brilliance-our delay by 3 days to Miami would have caused a cancellation anyway.! Perhaps another time we’ll cross paths and get to meet! -
You go online and do a mock booking find the value of the ov (as a “you pick” if your comp was not for GTY) then find the price of the cabin you want to upgrade to, you pay that difference. It helps if you know the cabin # and just provide it. I’ve had the agent on the phone quite me for the more expensive balconies, when I tell them the actual cabin I’m interested in they can suddenly see the price of the less expensive balconies. It’s a miracle!

‘Balance Due Phantom’ Strikes Again!
Pattycruise replied to BrianB's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I now have 2 cruises showing make a payment in the “manage my cruises”. One, I had already paid last week -money I did not owe- and no additional money shows due. The other, shows no balance due. Geez. -
Maybe leave his crown and anchor # off of the booking?
-
LOVE the large cabin. The walk to the wind hammer and dining room ( at least 3xa day!!) can get tiresome if this is Oasis or quantum class. another draw back can be the anchor sounds when docking. We had the front forward facing on the starboard side and the corner on deck 11 Anthem and it was annoying. I stayed on deck 7 on Radiance in forward facing and wouldn’t do it again, crew space was below us with a heavy metal door banging shut, movement is a lot more noticeable in the front of the ship if you are prone to motion sickness I would not recommend these cabins.

He’ll keep your tier (unless you become pinnacle they don’t keep that unless they earned those points) hopefully Royal is keeping track of your kids points properly. If I were the parent I’d keep the booking confirmation page with their name for whatever sailing they’ve been on. When they turn 18 they can check their account and ensure it is accurate. . They will not have your points unless they’ve done every sailing you have but their loyalty level will remain as yours. In the background C&a maintains the count, so once they’ve reached enough of their own points they are then technically that level in full. That’s why I recommended you maintain your own records as to points they’ve accumulated.

Oasis Promenade 5+ rooms any different?
Pattycruise replied to RCIfan1912's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I just googled. I don’t think I’d book a 5 room, it looks super tight. If it’s in the budget maybe look at connecting staterooms ? here’s the YouTube video I too a Quick Look at. If you skim, like me, realize bed # 5 comes down from the wall. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ns-VkeBm4Y -

Estoy muy contento de poder entender mucho de Soanish. Es hora de repasar mi jerga española de cruceros. translation I’m so glad iI can understand a lot of Spanish. time to brush up on my Spanish cruise lingo -
Key, pinnacle and Diamond plus all get the same area of reserved seating. In my opinion the seats pretty much stink. The balcony middle section which is fine for “listening” things but if you want to be up close for magician, shows forget these. The front row (2 rows even) of has the rail of the balcony block your view. I’m tall and experience this a bit less than the “short people”-probably of average height-who all sit and then get up and move. they open those seats to general population about 10-15 minutes before the show begins.

Check your booking confirmation you should have received it in your email when you booked. In the last page will be the ports and the times. Be aware that all ports and times are subject to change due to varying issues (weather, dock issues etc)

Pre Allocation of Cabins before cruise
Pattycruise replied to Foxwell's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I did GTY Cabins and was assigned early. i checked available cabins in the same category and contacted Royal (that’s who I had booked with) and was able to move my cabins within the same cabin category. if I were you I would do a mock booking to see what cabins are available in your category and if you can find 3 relatively near each other ask your TA to contact Royal and change cabins. I go so far as to provide my TA with the exact cabin #’s. or You could also see what the price difference is between a GTY cabin and a “pick your own own” and if it’s a small price difference, and not much higher than what you originally booked at you could reprice all the cabins if there are 3 near each other you wanted and pay the difference. Or keep one of those and just move 2 to be closer while paying the difference GTY and requests to be near each other are pretty non existent when they actually do the assignments. Also Royal up is the same issue Both are random, please keep that in mind for next time. -
That’s sweet . Sadly I was not scheduled for the B2B. I made a friend onboard who shared the letter with me. I heard there’s a huge amount of OBC -non refundable. If you want it as cash just download it to a slot machine by doing a room charge and cash it . Enjoy your cruise!

Cruising out of Vancouver and into seward
Pattycruise replied to mom2mybugs's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I stayed at the Century plaza. I felt it was pricey but I think all of Vancouver is that way. I booked them online and had a good credit for each day. The breakfast was gourmet, service could have been better though-I think they needed one more server for it to flute better, but the food made up for it. It was a good walk down to the waterfront where the cruise will dock. Uber was easy to get but our first one was a Tesla and couldn’t hold us and our luggage! US dollar was very strong against the Canadian dollar which helped a lot. Their bus transportation is very easy to get around. we did a hop on hop off bus which I wish I had thought of the day before because we would have done the 2 day version. We also did a Harbor flight- WOW. Happy hours saved us on our budget otherwise prices for meals were pretty high can’t speak to Seward: anchorage-I don’t recall what we did there -
Currently on Explorer. We are completing our Transatlantic and the ship will go to Labadee on its next sailing. There was a back to back cruises info meeting today with lots of people expressing their concern over Labadee, and the Brit’s were quite upset the ship was still going there because apparently their cruise insurance won’t cover their sailing because it goes to a level 4? Location. Anyhow staff said they’d relay the concerns to corporate. This was the reply handed out onboard today to the consecutive cruisers

My very first cruise I left the ship super mad about my experience after spending a ton of $ for my family of 6 to sail. I took my frustration and educated f because I did love the cruise, just not the things I wasn’t aware of. this discussion group is great to learn all the things you need to do you shouldn’t have the majority of the bad experiences you had. 1. complaints need to be addressed onboard. Honestly I think you are lucky you were offered anything back. 2. You can ask for the head waiter to make your complaints about food and ask for more or substitutions or sides from one plate to be added to your plate to make the meal meet your needs. 3. It’s known on these boards that you can call in and buy one deluxe beverage package and the other person can get the refreshment package. ( discussed in these boards) 4. Gratuities can need removed onboard if you so choose. (Discussed in these boards) 5. The pending charges are mentioned in your precise documents as well as in the app and in the compass and they do go up with the more you charge onboard. You’ll be lucky if those pending charges fall off in 2 weeks (another topic that’s been discussed in these boards) 5. use of the app to learn where things on are the ship -click on the ship and look at deck plans) is quite useful as are the wonders onboard. You really do need to know how to orientate yourself or you’ll be walking in the wrong direction for a large part of your sailing. Typically windjammer and main dining are aft, and theater and gym are forward. Once you’ve figured out where elevators are in relation to your cabin it makes all the difference. When facing forward in a ship say PS…port/starboard…port is in your left and starboard is on your right. Also something I just learned, after 60+ sailings in Royal if facing forward you can find the ladies room on your right, because the ladies are “always right “. This would work in most Royal ships and decks but not all, sent without proof reading-forgive the errors

19 year old, can't do kid's club or the bars.
Pattycruise replied to LBooher's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I recommend to be proactive. I join the Facebook groups for my sailings and typically on sailings with lots of teens there is someone who tries to get their kids connected prior to the sailing via Snapchat or whatever is a popular means of communication amongst that generation. It’s best to get it set up beforehand as a lot of people may not purchase internet for their sailing and then they won’t be able to communicate with each other until they meet onboard. The app does allow texting but you need to add the person to your app and must be connected to ship WiFi (free) and know the persons full name to invite to chat, then that person must accept the the invite. i wouldn’t rely so much on the onboard get together run by royal (no one checks age so the younger would be fine to go too). If it’s like the teen kids one there might be some connections on day one but after that it seems no one really goes as they’ve now made their friend groups -
‘Balance Due Phantom’ Strikes Again!
Pattycruise replied to BrianB's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Mine was the cancellation of a cruise planner purchase made in July and was cancelled on this past Friday, they owed me. My balance due is the exact amount of the cancellation. My “need to pay email shows they owe me-87.99. When I inquired of this yesterday I I had 2 agents tell me they owed me $ 87.98 and my account did not show I owed anything. Today i received the “we’ll cancel your cruise” email again-2 days after the first email- and lo and behold there is now a balance due on my account, $87.99. I paid it. I guess we’ll see what happens when the credit card statement comes. Last time they reimbursed out of cruise fare instead of excursion, so they needed the payment so they could apply it to the cruise fare, then they issued the reimbursement out of the proper account. Some such nonsense. i checked all my sailings and the rest are good but a friend linked to mine shows a $800+ balance due on a casino comp and there’s no way. She sent me her booking confirmation and it looks like they applied the credit for the cruise fare for that exact amount but somehow they have her as owing it. glad this thread was started so I checked all my stuff and found this error. -
Mr. & Mrs Geezer's Excellent (?) Adventure
Pattycruise replied to Geezer Of The Seas's topic in Other travel
I had recently read somewhere when you pick the cheapest Uber there’s a high chance they may not show. We experienced this in LA. The app said 5 minutes away, then 10, then “delays“…after 30minutes of this nonsense I think my husband downloaded the app and we had the same issue. When we finally cancelled the ride and clicked on the more expensive car (almost double the price) it came within 5 minutes. (It was not the same cars involved). -
Explorer to return 3 days later let the panic begin
Pattycruise replied to Pattycruise's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Captain announced yesterday we are coming behind a storm the day before we get to Miami. I don’t know what that means. He’s never given a firm arrival time into Miami. Today I asked about disembarkation procedures for Pinnacles and was told they still don’t have the info as to when we will arrive in Port to start disembarkation so they can’t send out instructions. Friday they will have the back to back meeting for those staying on for the next leg. Maybe they’ll have better info then -

Pattycruise replied to BrianB's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
It’s highly unlikely guest relations onboard will be able to help you, perhaps email the CEO [email protected] and state your case. Include reservation # and ship and sale date along with the issue and steps you’ve taken to resolve it. -

Wow. That’s interesting! That’s less sailings for 7 days, lots of prime/signature people who cannot select NJ for those weeks unless they use trade in value.
