  1. I was recently on serenade, which is a sister ship, and mine could not be opened.
  2. Very cute gift. The blanket is small. About the size of a baby blanket. Smaller than an airline blanket. The animal is about 10 inches tall.
  3. If I bump in to him again, I'll ask. I was surprised to see him at the buffet this morning. You never know. Maybe he'll be there tomorrow too!
  4. That's all the more reason to believe that royal will have to create a new class of ship that can make it through the canal in the relatively near future. That said, I seem to remember mariner was sailing in the Caribbean before it started sailing out of Los Angeles. I don't recall it being out of service long enough to sail around south America. How did it do this if it couldn't make it through the canal? Update: I'm on explorer right now and asked the captain. He was surprisingly vague, but his response was "That's a good question. I believe the answer is yes, it can."

  6. I agree, but I think they'll split the difference between Panamax and oasis. I believe royal will want ships that can transit the canal, but probably live with a neo panamax vessel. I understand oasis can transit the locks, but won't fit under the bridge. That means a less tall ship or Panama replaces the bridge. Time will tell.
  7. I would contact the special needs department at [email protected]. The chillers in the room don't get cold enough to be called refrigerated, so something special will need to be done
  8. I've twice had issues during my flight and called 844-278-9745 and always received a prompt and effective response. I hope you have a similar experience.
  9. Yes you can, but they will probably not be up to date on the latest Celebrity promotions
  10. I had an interior, accessible room deck 8 on Rhapsody. They rearranged the deck chairs every night until about midnight. Otherwise, the noise was no problem. More recently, I was in room 8000 on Grandeur and noise was not an issue. I hope this helps!
  11. I cruised out of San Juan back in November. We used the pan American port and used uber/taxi to get around. If you can afford it, old san juan was the place to be. Being a mere mortal, I stayed at an airbnb in isla Verde. It wasn't a bad place to stay. There were a limited number of restaurants within walking distance and a lovely beach. I'm thinking the uber ride to the port was about $20
  12. You'll get your itinerary as soon as you book with air2sea. Generally, but not always, they can assign the seat at that time. Some airlines will wait until the ticket is actually purchased, which happens 30 to 90 days out. However, and this is a big one, since the pandemic, the flights have changed frequently. Therefore, I wouldn't get real excited about seats and luggage until a month or so before sailing
  13. On my recent Grandeur cruise: Concierge club access with nightly happy hour Priority boarding and Disembark. Reserved seating in the theater. That's all I remember
  14. According to weatherspark.com, average high in March is 79 degrees f low is 68. Beachwatertemperature.net says the average beach water temp for Bahamas March is 78. I'll let the readers decide if that's cold hot or just right
  15. I've traveled with air2sea several times and they love American airlines. Several times I've had issues getting the ticket purchased prior to final payment date. More recently, the tickets weren't issued until 30 days prior to sailing. That said, I believe that American had the record locator number, but wouldn't assign seats, frequent flyer numbers or known traveler numbers. There was no way I could find to purchase the tickets earlier.
  16. @luly, I've been on both Explorer and Vision. I enjoy both, but I'd recommend Explorer for your family. There's much more to do. Explorer is a sister ship to Navigator, so it is very similar. Just be aware, navigator has been amplified and Explorer hasn't.
  17. As mentioned, there are several hotels on the island. The Tremont and harbor house are within walking distance. Several people stay in Webster Texas, which is a suburb of Houston about 20 miles from the port. It's a decent, safe and relatively cheap place to stay. I also suggest Kemah which is a little out of the way but has a boardwalk with hotels, shopping, restaurants and amusement park rides.
  18. Enjoy your cruise and your time in Texas! Just don't forget that there are 2 airports in Houston. I'm guessing you'll arrive at IAH. that's 90 minutes from the cruise port, so allow plenty of time. I'd also avoid hotels near either airport. Most of the neighborhoods nearby are rather sketchy
  19. As mentioned before, the Caribbean is warm year round. That includes southern, eastern or western. So no worries there. In my experience, Miami and ft. Lauderdale are also warm, but I haven't spent much time there , so take that with a grain of salt. If you can, I'd suggest going on an itinerary with coco cay included. It's an amazing private island the the kids will love. You might check out cruisemapper.com. they list the schedule for every port, including coco cay. If you can. Pick a day when you're the only ship in port. Have fun and welcome to the addictive world of cruising!
  20. I've sailed her twice and I'm on her sister ship (serenade) right now..I enjoy it very much. It is a truly beautiful ship. That said, you need to go in with proper expectations. She's a Panamax vessel. This means she's the largest ship that can go through the old panama canal locks. That limits her size to about 60% of liberty size. She has a nice centrum, solarium and some other venues. But there just isn't room for a flowrider or royal promenade
  21. I've sailed at least one ship from each class except Oasis. I find that every one has its charm. I've observed that people that have a bad time on board any of them is simply sailing with a bad attitude. Do I have a favorite, and therefore a least favorite? Of course! Would I avoid any of them? Not a chance.
  22. I boarded Serenade this morning. The first crew member I met said this was their first sailing without masks. It's a very happy crew!
  23. Yes! It is true. In fact, no one during boarding even asked my Vax status. The health questionnaire asked though. In fact there were only 3 questions: Are you vaccinated? Have you had boosters? Are you pregnant?
