monctonguy got a reaction from Matt in How did you become interested in taking your first cruise?
I was curious for years but had heard the horror stories/rumors, plus the cost of getting to a cruise(from Canada), plus the cost once on the cruise(extras, tips and drinks!) was too much imho. So I travelled south for years and did AI's.

However, as soon as the drink packages came out, I decided to take the plunge and book a cruise. Have done 3 in the past 2 years and am ready to book my fourth.

Now that I have experienced it, I prefer it over an AI.....it's just convincing others to join me as the single supplement is killer with RCI.

I agree Monctonguy the Windjammer has great choices and the quality is really good and like you we end up eating there a lot. In fact we only go MDR 1 evening and 1 lunch and the rest of the cruise is speciality restaurants or Windjammer.

Glad you like the Honey Stung Chicken  :) , i just wish they served it on more days and not just embarkation day  :(

I finally had a chance to try the honey stung chicken last cruise thanks to the suggestions here....it was very good!

I like the variety and choices in the Windjammer. I usualy end up eating most of my meals there.

The Indian food is always great and was a pleasant surpirse on my first cruise with RCI. Had it pretty much every night for starters. Last cruise I took, was only there one night that I could find it.

I defn enjoy the salad bar there each evenings as well.

I  do have asthma.  I am also allergic to dogs, cats, and dust.  But I realize I have to accept and deal with these things in my everyday life or I would never do anything or go anywhere.

If we block and ban everything that pople dont like/enjoy/appreciate or are allergic to or have potential reactions to, we might as well live in a bubble.

So based on my experience, and from someone who does have asthma(the orginal posted did not indicate that was his issue with the smoke) I would say the casino's arent that bad when it comes to making your clothes smell!! :)

Thats right, the changed it about a yr ago or so. Much better option now. And they can track you pretty easily if you are "buying" drinks for others on your pass!

I don't see a need for this...keep parents responsible for their kids when on a cruise......

While it can happen to anyone anwyhere, we don't need anymore costs added to cruise prices already....

monctonguy got a reaction from michelle in Bahamas in early April - how cold is the water?
Lots to do and see there without having to pay.

I was there in Jan and Feb, both times the water was a little cool but still felt good.

I never got mugged, and I explored all around. Even ended up there overnite as work was being done on the ship and ventured out till about 4am to the bars/clubs and had a blast.

I think the compensation is good, but would have liked to see them do a full refund vs 50%. It would have improved their PR position.

The media is beating them up pretty bad. Everyone omits the fact that 20 million people are infected every year in US. Not sure what the cruise # is in comparison, but suspect rather small to miniscule. if i were booked on Explorer next week i would not hesitate to go. Sailed Celebrity Mercury a couple of years ago 1st cruise after 4 consecutive outbreaks. Probably the cleanest ship i have been on. That string of outbreaks came from a huge regional outbreak in & around the ships port city of Charleston.

Nothing to worry about. Had a great time on Enchantment last week, and headed back in 2 weeks for another trip.

Boat was in great shape, lots to see and do. Staff were good, food was good. Doesn't get much better than that.

And this time I am defn booking a NCC, cause I will be back, prob in the fall.

These machines were amazing. I didn't realize from the posts here, that once you hit a button like "powerade", that you would then have another 5-10 choices of flavors etc.......

Was great, used alot. Very conveinent for sure.

Looking forward to using them again in 20 days!! :D

monctonguy got a reaction from trainer.stan in Price reduction or onboard credit?
I would say price reduction for me. I like the look of a lower price initally. Once the trip is paid for, I then plan for the extras along the way. I know its 6 of one, half dozen of another but for me the low price would be more attractive.

Plus, there isn't really anything I purchase once on board. The only extra is the drink package, which i purchase ahead of time.(not sure if the onboard credit could be used toward that or not)

monctonguy got a reaction from Don in Need Suggestions for Excursions
There are lots of options for Nassau. As part of your reservation online with RCI, you can preview, read up and see pricing on all the excursions they offer at each location you will visit. Outside of that, there are many others you can research online or get some info on some of the other travel messageboard sites.

I will suggest, that even if you don't choose a paid excursion in Nassau, there will be lots for you and your girls to do. There is a huge straw market there, lots of tourist shops to visit. Many resturants and bars to relax at and enjoy. There are beaches that are free to visit, with live music and cheap drinks at the bars there right on the beach.

I am going back for a 2nd time to Nassau and won't be booking any excursion's as I still didnt get to see everything and go everywhere I wanted to on my own the first time.

And of course, there is Atlantis that has all kinds of packages and options for visiting. However, some of those can cost as much per person as I paid for my whole cruise....no thanks!

monctonguy got a reaction from Matt in Biggest Royal Caribbean story of 2013?
For me it was the changes to the all-inclusive drink packages.

Love the new options, and love the fact that you have some much choice and flexibility.

For alot of others I know, this was one of the biggest things holding them back from cruising. The unknown and the horror stories of $1000's of exepenses at the end of your cruise.(mainly booze of course..lol)

Now to be able to budget, plan and for each person to be able to choose different packages, or no package at all is great!

Safely home--always good to get back into your own home. The Golden Arches off I-95 was a couple of clicks below our culinary standard of the past week and a graphic reminder that you are back in the real world. Alas, only 167 days until our next Chops Grill experience.

wow, sorry to hear that. Guess I should consider myself lucky that on my first cruise I was able to spend the day on coco cay. It's a great day on the island. Maybe if its a 4 day cruise, they can change the at sea day with this day and get you there?

I am doing this cruise in Jan and Feb....sounds like I should be looking for the honey strung chicken when I get on!!
