  1. Just wanted to add that many ships in the fleet has a splash pad area for the kids on the pool deck and I think all the Oasis Class ships (Oasis, Allure, Harmony, Symphony and Wonder of the Seas have large ones) Harmony: Freedom of the Seas:
  2. I figured the VPN thing might pop up in the replies and I wanted to share my recent experience. I have a VPN through Norton that is set to turn on whenever I connect to a public wifi. It connected as soon as I logged into the wifi onboard. For maybe the first 2 or 3 days, I had no real issues with my connection but by day 4 I couldn't use the app (i literally didn't think I was on the ship) and everything online was at a crawl. I finally got exasperated and turned the VPN off and things went back to normal. It could have just been my provider causing the connection issues, but wanted to share in case you were thinking of going that route to check your email.
  3. haha yeah. the tiny puppy towel animal was so cute on our last cruise and this seemed like the place most would appreciate.
  4. Thanks for clearing it up... and still noticed that OP has never reappeared to post anything else in all these months....
  5. Fortunately Labadee has plenty of great spaces and the bungalows there tend to be much cheaper than any cabanas with a lot of the same amenities. I do highly recommend them if you want that more exclusive feel.
  6. So...there is still a lobster night...it's just not an unlimited lobster night....? And people are mad enough about the lack of unlimited that they don't think there's a lobster night at all anymore? I just think that language will be confusing to first timers who may think there's no free lobster period....
  7. so...as someone who doesn't eat shellfish and therefore never participated in lobster night... What makes it lobster night? was it just the unlimited part? because reading this topic, it sounds like there's no free lobster at all and we just got off of Harmony and on the second formal night in the main dining room you can the lobster tail as part of the included dining just like before...so I'm confused by all this "no lobster night" talk.
  8. Oooh. I'm ready for the adventure! Fingers and toes crossed and positive vibes sent for your flight day being uneventful.
  9. I'm glad to hear they were upholding the dress restrictions somewhere. We did a galley tour on Harmony and in the rules it says no shorts or skirts/dresses, no purses, no open-toed shoes....and people showed up in all of the above and were able to participate no problem. The mom and I were shocked especially since anything can happen in an active kitchen.
  10. I started using clips because it's a dollar tree thing ($1.25 for a pack of 6) so if they break or get lost I'm not out a lot of money. I've seen the bands and have to wonder - how hard are they to put over a chair? They look like giant rubber bands and all I can imagine is getting fingers pinched or not being strong enough to pull it or the towel fighting me as I try to put it on....
  11. The shuttle slowly drives around the pickup area (hotel shuttle area outside baggage claim) and is clearly marked "Ramada" red lettering on a white truck.
  12. wait...they limit slices? because we haven't experienced that....even just last week we were getting 3 or 4 at a time and we were not alone
  13. This is the only thing I think makes sense. In fact, until I read about it here, I assumed they were charging for custom or whole pizzas. $5, $6 or $8 for a custom pie doesn't feel unreasonable.
  14. Just wanted to share my feelings about this place because I said I would after looking for a hotel under $150/night in Miami. Overall: I'd give this hotel a 5.5/10. Not something I would recommend but if you've already booked it, don't despair. The Room: Because this 2-story hotel doesn't have an elevator (and we had 4 suitcases over 40 pounds each) I made sure to request a first floor room ahead of time. We got a room in the corner. On first impression it was tight. The two double beds leave barely a walking path from the door to the window and the only space to store suitcases was the entryway. We thought we had the short end of the stick but, after passing another room right across from the breakfast area, we realized it could get worse. That room, from what we saw in passing, opened directly against the bedside table and the person walking in had to squeeze in before the door could close. The cleanliness of the room wasn't awful but I said something along the lines of "this is the dirtiest clean room" because there was mild staining on the duvet, a pillowcase, armchair, and curtains, and there were 4 strands of hair still stuck on the shower walls. Otherwise, it was dust free and smelled fine. The beds were okay - the kind of soft that comes from being worn vs made that way - but the pillows were square like throw pillows and collapsed once I put my head on them. For reference, I prefer firm mattresses and pillows. The bathroom was a good size for the room but we realized there was no toilet paper holder and (as seen in the photo) the roll is just housed on the shelf over the back of the toilet. Also, while the sink provided water pressure strong enough to overwhelm the drain, the shower pressure was pretty bad and I’m certain it was because the shower head had a strong buildup of calcium or lime. It served its purpose though and I felt thoroughly washed for boarding day. The tv offered good channels, the lighting was good, the windows overlooked the sidewalk and parking lot but had good sheers and gave lots of sunlight. The AC was top notch. Overall room rating: 4.5/10. The Food: We tried both the attached restaurant for dinner and the buffet breakfast. Dinner: absolutely fantastic. We were thoroughly surprised a sports bar had such high quality offerings like red snapper and fajitas. Huge portions and extremely tasty. Our server was also very friendly, had a great sense of humor and made great recommendations on drinks and food. Breakfast: Long story short, between the time I booked the hotel and the check-in date, management for the breakfast restaurant had changed and the “complimentary continental” listed with my reservation had increased to $12/person. Thankfully, the front desk staff provided us with vouchers so, for us at least, it remained complimentary. And for that I am glad. We assumed that with the price increase also came an increase in offerings - we were wrong. The breakfast was the same “hot continental” buffet we’re used to - scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, waffle maker, pastries and toast, cereals and a few beverages. And it wasn’t very good. The bacon was limp, the sausage cold and nasty, the eggs meh. The fruit, drinks, pastries and waffles were good. Yogurt was also offered but we didn’t try any. It is not worth $12/person. Wouldn’t even be worth $5. Overall food rating: 6/10 with most points coming because of the fantastic dinner and our convenient location to the breakfast restaurant (literally 3 doors from our room). The Location: I was most excited by this hotel because it was surrounded by lots of food and Walgreens or the like were not too far to walk to. I still say it’s good for that. It’s also behind the airport so the shuttle ride was short. We didn’t do too much in the area because we ended up having to go to Ross and Walmart for additional clothing items and by the time we got back for dinner a storm was rolling in, but I would choose the area again. Overall location rating: 8/10 The Shuttles: Hotel offers free airport shuttles and a paid cruise shuttle through a 3rd party partnership. The hotel airport shuttle leaves the hotel every hour on the hour and hit arrivals about 20 minutes after the hour. Didn’t like that it’s such a long wait but we were fortunate in that we got our luggage close to the top of the hour and therefore waited ‘only’ 30 minutes. The cruise shuttle was fine. Ended up being $20 total which was a little under what an uber would have cost. Overall shuttles rating: 7/10 The pool we saw but didn’t use. Looked nice but I don’t want to give it any rating. The lobby decor was fun and clean with lots of places to sit while waiting or checking in/out. The staff were all very courteous and helpful.
  15. Thanks! l feel more like myself when I have colorful hair so I'm always on the lookout for interesting color combos. A lot of people got barbie vibes but I was for sure thinking mermaid
  16. While I can't comment on the before and after since our Harmony sailing last week was out first time trying Jaime's, I do know my mom was disappointed that a dessert she wanted was no longer on the menu. And I ended up getting the classic sorbet because nothing else sounded good to me.
  17. Thanks! Everyone on the ship (crew and guests) loved them too Alas, I'm back on land. While we had the internet package I was too lazy and often tired to make any posts while on board
  18. It was a success! And I didn't even have to pay for it! I got weird looks for asking but they gave me the bread with a to go top and I took it down to the main dining room to enjoy on the last night
  19. glad to see i am not alone in loving it. I'll try to buy it and report back on what happens.
  20. Does anyone know if one could buy the bread from 150 central park a la carte? Asking for a friend...... Friend is me
  21. my office Karen is actually named marcia
  22. so in the new video the blog shared from Royal on youtube...sounds like it's a support beam that they added cool moving mirrors to
  23. Literally my exact thoughts. I am a cosplayer and love going to conventions and the opportunity to combine it with cruising definitely sounded great. but the price seemed crazy high..until I did the math The math: SDCC badge (aka ticket) prices for all 5 days would normally be $330 Hotel would probably add another $250-$350 per person if a standard room is split between 4 or so people. A standard interior on Serenade in the off season averages about $800 That's about $1,100.... according to the site, a 3V/4V interior is $990 per person (though I do swear it was high before) so....not overly ridiculous I guess. Does still suck that I wouldn't be able to use my Diamond Perks....
