  1. True, but shouldn't you always have a rosy outlook for your business? In any case, I hope you are right!
  2. Nice for Europe, but not yet for the Americas...
  3. @Neesa Holy Moly! See what you can learn by doing just a bit of research!!! Yep, that would be a hard NO for us. What truly amazes me is that they chartered the entire Oasis ship. That is a whole lot of clothing optional people...
  4. I sent RCL a letter pleading with them to no avail. On a ship the Captain is in charge and his decision is final. All I can say is whoa Momma Bear - you really wouldn't want the consequences. There was no refund (not even partial) for me. And when I sailed on the Rhapsody to Alaska the following year I received no less than 3 phone calls from RCL officials. They asked me lots of questions and were essentially testing me. They wanted to make sure the issue was behind me and that I was not a risk! So in the end, I was very lucky that the Captain did not choose to ban me from RCL for life. It could have happened to me, but thank God it did not. Ceil likes her cruises and I can bear the thought of being the reason why we weren't cruising Royal.
  5. That is probably a smart move. We haven't booked our airfare to Florida yet. The current state of the virus down there is whole other issue.
  6. Arrgh, my next cruise is on Nov 1st. All this uncertainty is driving me crazy! At this point, I am kind of just waiting for the cruise start date to be pushed out again...
  7. Thinking more about what @Scrumps wrote, I sure hope that NO cruise ship sails knowing that their passengers will need to quarantine upon disembarkation.
  8. Agree. I am in the same boat. I can afford a week of vacation time to cruise, but not a resulting two week quarantine out of work...
  9. Gee, good points. I hadn't even considered how impossible it will be to socially distance in a hot tub or on an elevator. Now you all have me wondering if some of the venues I have to come to expect (maybe even take for granted) could actually be closed for the duration of my Cruise on Nov 1st !!! Well that would really xxxx (insert your wording here)...
  10. I remember those days well and actually do miss them. I was on Carnival once where they held a special crepe event with all of the fixings at 2:00 in the morning !!! I just happened to wake right before then and said "hey I am hungry again". I woke up Ceil and we went. It was fun. What we found is that most of the people there were from the ship. Entertainers, singers & dancers, staff, etc. Still it was a blast. I had crepes with cherries and chocolate! Yum...
  11. For me it was a close call, so if I did only what I needed to do to protect myself as you say, I am confident I would have not have been debarked. Now I know for next time and yes, there are camera everywhere even if you can't find security. There was however, no camera in the elevator! Another bad experience as part of this was that I was interrogated by the police in Jamaica as I was released by the ship to them. That was not at all fun either. Please learn from me, just don't take that chance and call security! On the good side (sort of) was that my sister and my wife's sister (who were sharing a room), chose on their own to leave the ship too and go to Disney with us. In the end, we did get to enjoy our vacation...
  12. I was going to try to point to a link to that old thread, but after 10 minutes of searching I had to give up. Yes, it was out there before. Embarrassing for me and I learned my lesson. As you can imagine, I was not able to get any sort of refund for the unused portion of the cruise. So what did we do you ask? We went to Disney World !!! True story after spending one night at the Montego Bay Riu Resort...
  13. Ha, not sure actually. The fireworks and sex were not witnessed by me, but rather a close friend of mine. I was surprised to here it. He witnessed two instances of public sex.
  14. Yeah, I agree. Of all the RCL policies, this one I really hate! They do not disclose any partial charters to non-charter passengers in order to protect the privacy of charter passengers. Really, what does that mean? What about my privacy? I guess it doesn't matter...
  15. OK, I'll bite. Here is the very short story. My family & friends found ourselves on the 2012 Freedom charter by the High Seas Rally group - essentially a bunch of bikers. They accounted for over 2200 passengers on that sailing. I would have never booked that cruise had I known and now always check (as best as possible) to make sure I am not booking a partial chartered cruise. The majority of the cruisers were smokers (muster was horrible), formal night attire was mostly leather (picture backgrounds catered to them), fireworks on the ship (thought this was against ship rules), pirate banners on balconies (thought this was against ship rules), and even sex in public! You get the idea. Anyway on the way down to dinner in an elevator with my family, a drunk Rally member jumped into our elevator with his wife. She was in a wheelchair, so he was carrying both of their glasses of red wine. At every floor we stopped at he proceeded to invite waiting people into our elevator - even though we were pretty full. He was drunk and having his own fun. Anyway, a guy on the elevator (not us) tried to get him to stop, but he was not having it. When we reached the floor above where we were having dinner, he got out with his wife AND as the door was almost closed he threw both glasses of red wine at us! My older sister is very proper and very well dressed. Unfortunately, she got most of the red wine on her dress. I was pissed so chased him down, got into a fight, and the captain had us both dropped off at the next stop in Jamaica. My mistake, I should have summoned security. Please learn from my mistake. So far, I have...
  16. If you violate RCL's policy you can be dropped off at a port with no way home - it happened to me...
  17. Same. After awhile you become comfortably numb to it all and now it is just a way of life if you want to enter any public space around here in New England...
  18. @sk8erguy1978 YES! Exactly this !!! In the end I saved $32 dollars on the 3 Night Dining Package, but in the short term I had to pay about double the item cost prior to the refund. I understand that others are going through a heck of a lot more than this, but I wish that RCL would not complicate the small stuff. Aren't they just creating more work for themselves while already are running on a short staff? I don't get it...
  19. FYI, I just figured I would follow up on this thread. I just received my $230 cruise planner refund back to my BOA RCL Visa. It was dated July 4th. I wonder if RCL was working that day. Anyway that was a frustrating 44 days for something that usually takes less than 4 minutes. I am just glad it is done. BUT, now I have a $230 Visa credit to deal with when it only should have been been $32...
  20. @Neesa FYI, I just received my $230 CP refund from a cancellation I made on May 22nd. The refund was dated July 4th. Happy 4th of July to me...
