Boosters are not required for either the US or Europe.  For Europe the difference is in the testing , timeframe you must be tested.

there’s no need to worry about the booster for the US.  I don’t even submit my card that had the booster on it-mg booster had its own card, , I figure it will confuse the RC staff

Just be careful while you can cruise without being boosted  if you are not up to date (i.e. 270 days since vaccine and NOT boosted)  several European countries will require you to test before disembarking at their ports.

    https://www.royalcaribbean.com/gbr/en/faq/questions/if-i-am-not-up-to-date-on-vaccinations-in-europe-where-will-i-need-additional-testing

If coming to Europe it's advisable to be boosted at least 14 days before sailing.

  2. Don't worry we are the same. We have electronic cards in Belgium and you can download a PDF but Royal's American only app only allows JPEG files.

So I have to download a perfectly readable PDF then print then take a photo and upload it to the site. Out of 4 only two were accepted.

I tried again same issue I'll just show my gov. app at the port it's easier than this. Wish Royal would allow PDF uploads.

  3. Not for Italy sadly fully vaxxed 3 times caught covid in May 2022 got a recovery certificate but it's completely useless still have to test 2 days before boarding and play covid roulette with my summer vacation. Thought when I booked in Jan that this would be a thing of the past. 🙄

In total counting friends there are 14 of us going it will be a miracle if we all get on the ship

  4. Getting worried about our two cruises now and the fact that 12 other people are coming on our cruise we booked. I hope we don't get the blame if they test positive.

We have decided to avoid crowded locations on the ship and will probably wear masks.

We both have covid at the minute and it's pretty nasty. Going to phone the doctor tomorrow see if we can get some tablets for it.

This is old advice but I'll repeat it here anyway......

When dealing with an issue where I made my reservations through the website myself, rather than with a TA...I expect to spend quite a bit of time on hold while the agent checks with their 'colleague' or supervisor. So I schedule my call accordingly...and use speakerphone.

But the best advice I have (which, by the way, I learned on these forums...thanks, guys!) is to always call back and speak to another agent when I don't get the answer I want. It is time-consuming and can be frustrating but usually I end up satisfied with the result. Good luck...and I hope you can get the result you want!

Had to do this to get my drinks package for my July 2022 sailing they had discounted drinks on select European 2022 sailings. Took 3 goes before I found someone that knew the codes to get this deal. The other two even denied such a deal existed. 😂 If you don't get anywhere try again.

  6. Hi there,

We booked direct with RCI (bad experience with our two previous TA's so decided to go direct) and I want to upgrade from inside to Balcony as a surprise for my wife. We agreed an inside to save money but I have some savings squirreled away and want to surprise her when boarding.

I don't see any buttons on my reservation to upgrade.

Also is there a good time to hit the upgrade button (if there was one.) ?

I understand there is a Royal Up bidding programme but would like to guarantee and pick my own cabin spot.

Many thanks for any assistance fellow cruisers.

  7. I've been searching all the major cruise lines for some weekend or midweek cruises but none of the lines seem to do it?

Seem like a missed opportunity to get younger people on board.

There are many times during April-June in Europe where there are Monday's or Friday's off  where people could go on a long weekend cruise.

So far I have only found 1 on NCL but it leaves and arrives at different ports which means you miss out on good return flight packages.

The US  seems full of these shorter cruises why aren't there many/any in Europe?

They do have a whole section dedicated to passengers booked in Grand Suites and higher.  Even though this is an Oasis Class ship when you look at the deck plans you will notice from deck 6 through deck 14 there are no Grand Suites, no Owner Suites on any of those floors like you would find on every other Oasis Class ship.  Outside of Junior Suites the only suites you will find on decks 8-14  are Aqua Theater Suites, all other suites from Grand and higher are located on decks 17 and 18 on Wonder of the Seas.

I would suggest people look at the deck plans for Spectrum of the Seas (a Quantum Plus Class Ship) and compare her deck plans to Odyssey of the Seas another Quantum Plus Class Ship, the one thing you will notice is the placement of Grand suites (not the lofts the suite only) and the Owner Suites on Spectrum are all located on decks 15 and 16.  Again there are far fewer Grand and Owner suites on Spectrum than there are on any other Quantum class ship.

Keep in mind both of these ships were built for the Chinese market Spectrum went directly to China via the Suez Canal.   Wonder was supposed to go directly to China but for now China is not allowing cruising to resume.  Now because of everything going on the ship is coming to both North America and Europe, who knows when she will make her way over to China.  The deck plan layout is the reason I don't think Wonder will stay in the US/Europe, I think the moment China reopens and allows cruising to resume within a few months Royal will send her to China, she doesn't have enough suites to remain in the US/European market.

    Thanks Jason

If it's showing available on the website, have you tried actually just booking it online?

Regarding testing positive getting off the ship, for cruises sailing on or before the 31st of October, Royal's Covid-19 Assistance says "If you test positive for COVID-19 during the cruise, Royal Caribbean will cover the costs of COVID-19 related medical treatment onboard, any required land-based quarantine, and travel home for you and your Traveling Party." (https://www.royalcaribbean.com/the-healthy-sail-center)

In theory, you could be stuck in Barcelona, but in practice they may opt to provide you with private transport back home immediately upon disembarking. There are reports of them doing that in the US/Caribbean, actually flying people home by private jet.

Thanks my son is at school the following week in October so we can't afford to be stuck in a foreign country. We are all vaccinated so I'd rather mask up and fly home that be in quarantine somewhere. Just looked again and we can now book connecting cabins it's very strange every day for the same booking multiple options appear and disappear Saturday morning all were sold out now there are balconies on multiple decks. Just wish they would allow 3 to a cabin as it's €404 for guarantee balcony which rises to €909 to choose your own...

  10. Thanks for these updates. To be honest I'm not surprised about numbers since they don't allow you to book 3 to a cabin.

We want to go with our 16 year old son in October we have tried ringing and they  will absolutely NOT allow 3 in a cabin and seem unwilling (???) to book connecting cabins when we phone despite availability on the website.

What happens if you test positive getting off the ship? Are you stuck in Barcelona for a week?
