  1. Agree it was like that when we cruised her in Nov, first time on the ship so nothing to compare to, but we have done all 5 Oasis class ships in GS in the past year and it was the only one that was there and not in the balcony. On one of the Oasis class ships I was surprised at the ice show as the reserved seating was on a side instead of head on to the performances, which also seemed odd.
  2. You can book ahead as you stated, but you can also wait until the concierge send you the welcome email and then book at that time. the only show I have ever had the Suite Concierge not get me into was a specific time for a comedy show. your reply about "might not be the best section" is subjective as are opinions on food. Personally I love the balcony.
  3. @WAAAYTOOO you do need reservations for ALL shows that require reservations, even if in a Grand Suite, the advantage is that for all but the comedy club, at least in my experience, the Suite Concierge can override that limit the system puts on those other shows and get you booked in.
  4. As Matt said no one has seen one or has it been reported to have been seen. In my experience it was rarely available even when they had it, and it was then only on the last few nights, so really not of much use.
  5. Nope - they usually have me book the 2nd dinner first night I use the BOGO (nite 1 or 2) if I go to a cheaper restaurant and book a more expensive one for the 2nd use, even if they let me do it later in the cruise, they have always charged for the more expensive one the first night. Nice try though, you might get to pull one over on a more inexperienced host, have neve tried booking the 2nd night later then changing it before i use it, that could possibley work or backfire completely and you end up paying for 2 dinners at full price.
  6. Customer Service really can't help with dinning requests. 2-3 weeks prior to cruise email requests to [email protected] Don't forget to put in ship, date, reservation numbers
  7. The vast majority of time Wifi calling works on my Android device, but sometimes not. Example last week on Jewel it did not work. This week Radiance not a problem. I don't have the technical skill to determine why, as none of my phone setting change from week to week.
  8. It is more about overwhelming the chef and his staff than about the number of seats in the resturant. If you watch that is why only a few tables come in at each 15 minute slot.
  9. Call it a service fee And Do not allow it to be removed, that solves the problem
  10. older smaller ships with less perks, in off peak times will also give you a chance at lower suite prices.
  11. finally a move in the correct direction Be smart eliminate ALL smoking on board if you want to profess to be a family cruise line
  12. That just may be your personal opinion. Most cruisers that I know, if they eat Lobster, really enjoyed the traditional lobster all you can eat night on cruise ships. I do understand that is simply a cost cutting measure, just like most Hotels now limiting daily cleanings
  13. The Diamond plus benifit for Specialty resturants is a BOGO (buy one get one) so 2 people eat for half price each. It must be purchased on board in the first 2 days of the sailing, and although they don't "jack" up the price you pay the full price plus 18% gratuity. Right now diner in chops on most Oasis class ships is at $64.99 + 11.70 grat = $76.70 Other restaurants can be cheaper
  14. Just disembarked Wonder Saturday and because my wife CC notifications from BoA are very slow, $99.75 charge shows in email today, but it was only a hold. Have never actually seen one hit the actual on board account.
  15. You won't be able to get Suite benifits for those in the junior suite cabin, but since you are on a Voyager class ship, there are no CK benefits and no free internet for the suite. The in room dining and free room service as long as you order from the suite should be no problem. By purchasing the key for the Junior Suite you will have the same priority embark / disembark privileges as well as reserved show seating. Oh suite advantages I see is free drink happy hour and breakfast in chops seating (menu is same as MDR breakfast) Personally I think buying the Key for the kids in the JS is a wash. But JMHO
  16. My pet peeve All the rest of you interrupting my personal cruise by even being there. When you see me coming your should move out of the way, give up your seat for me and generally make me feel like royalty. SARCASM LOL JOKE
  17. I would tend to go along with your first statement as a mass errant billing. That along with GS trying their best to explain. Personally I'm glad that I don't have to visit GS very often because I find that around 50% of the time they don't really know the answer, not sure if it is the language barrier or just lack of training.
  18. Most everyone has commented on "Charter Cruises" which as they say are sold to that group and are not open for general booking. But there are also "Fan" cruises, one example is a the Texas country music cruise (BTW I am not promoting this, just using as an example) https://www.texascountrymusiccruise.com/ What happens is a travel agency puts together basically a "Group" cruise and normally based on experience block a number of room at a certain rate. They then add around $300-500 pp fee to, I imagine offset some of the cost they incur renting certain venues on the ship. Those venues will be closed to the public at times so they can put on their entertainment. I have seen and experienced all types of different venues close during these cruises. On one cruise they closed the solarium for a whole afternoon, the general public was not even permitted to walk through it. Star lounge is popular to close for these types of events, but i have even seen the Theatre closed for special events. Most of the time these "Fan" cruises don't affect you a lot, but in some instances it can be mildly irritating.
  19. you have this absolutely right from my experience, we book oasis class ship based on proximity to the elevators among other secret reasons.
  20. Sorry, but CUBA is CUBA the owners of that port prior to Fidel need to take up their complaint with the legitimate government of CUBA. USA has no legal or other reason to become involved Do I necessarily agree with the policy of there government, but that is not my legal concern. If i was CUBA I would put all my resources into Building a new port that could accommodate huge ships and invite everyone, big port taxes would not shy away the cruise ships.
  21. Reporting back, Wonder Xmas 2022, I was the first non-suite; pinnacle; key on board just before 10:30. No specialty restaurants had hosts, doors locked. Headed back to dinning desk on promanade, waited on one other couple in process booking when I arrived. She actually had a computer hooked to reservation system. Let me say I did pre-criuse book 3 of the resturants for the day and time slot I wanted. So when I told the host I wanted to cancel and replace with UDP she said that was smart and no problem. Just might be 4-5 days to see refund. Had by end of 3rd day. Refundable on-board credit. Most of the rest of the avalible time slots were mostly early or later. We are good with early so it worked for us the rest of the nights. Promenade host could no book any Izume Habachi and told we had to go there and they'd open at 11am. Well I was about ready to give up when they finally opened at 18 after. Only one avalible slot, but it didn't work for us so we passed. This was our first experiance with an UDP and it is a lot of rich food. We are generally happy with MDR and CK dinners, so if we venture again I think I'll stick with a 3 night package or just purchase 1 or 2. Yet to be seen. I will say that if I do a package again I will definately prepay for Habachi very early in the process and transfer to the package onboard. Loved Wonderland.
  22. We have done number of b2b this year and have always checked in for both cruises. Checked in last Thursday for my 5 Feb Allure sailing. Check in for 12 Feb was supposed to be today. I cannot access the check in icon along bottom of App. But when I select the top right person icon and go to that details page there is "view setsail pass" and they are there with a 12:30 boarding time. It errors out if U try to edit check in. Then went to that same details page for the 19 Feb sailing whose checkin does not open till next week. Lo and behold we already have setsail passes for that sailing at 12:30 also. Looks to me like the system automatically checked us in for our consecutive cruises. Anyone else notice this?
  23. I whole heartedly agree with @Ampurp85 comments on 1st cruise. We have done a few 3 night packages and are currently on Wonder with a UDP and it is a lot of food, rich food. We are enjoying it but probably will stick to a 3 night from here on out. Great trying every restaurant though as now we know which we prefer
  24. Or maybe just quit letting people remove them. Try doing that in a restaurant that adds an automatic TIP to parties larger than 8.
  25. You don't think what is true? Please be a little more specific as to what you're commenting on. I get confused easily.
