    Hello fellow cruisers.

On my last sailing, Oct 15th Allure, I had a person in my party who was too sick to attend. I know that CP items and port taxes and fees are returned but how about prepaid gratuity?? I paid on my card, so I received a refund. It was a random lump, so I had to figure out what was returned, and it looks like the gratuities were not. I thought if you didn't cruise, they would also be returned, is this not the case?

I will be in a similar situation next week. Do you know how RC determines which card to credit for port charges? Do they use the actual card that paid the charges or does it go to the card used on board? Thanks!

Offers went out for our cruise on the 28th, according to FB group (I haven't personally recieved it, though will include the screenshots below). The offer is less generous... 100% refund (or booked on an equivalent sailing, no additional OBC), 50% FCC.

Think we're about to see RCL test the waters with how low they can go and still get enough takers. Have a feeling we'll see some IDB's in the terminal next Sunday.

What are IDB’s? Can’t figure out this acronym! 🙃

do you recall if there was a place to put your stuff while touring the ruins? we are doing this in august and will obviously want different things for the ruins vs the beach but don't really want to carry a big bag around too much

Yes, we were able to leave our things on the bus.

I know during COVID this was a big no-no. Still the case?

I completely missed the 45 day point and now have a 12:30 time in Port Canaveral. Would love to get on earlier to eat lunch.

I have two (hopefully helpful) comments.

    1. If you want to arrive early and don't mind standing in line in case they enforce check in time, go for it! Yes, it is annoying to deal with a crowded terminal, but I won't judge you!

    2. Even though you missed the 45 day check in, additional check in spots DO open up. I have had luck with this multiple times. I have seen earlier times appear 1 week before departure. Just keep checking the app and you might get lucky. 🙂

Back in the day they weren't operating multiple ships sharing terminal on different days as much.  Parking at the port has become an issue.

Parking at Orlando airport is a disaster right now.  Took over an hour to find a spot a few weeks ago.  I'm not sure where everyone is going, but folks are traveling in record numbers.

    It's crazy right now.

Let’s hope Royal is reaping some of those rewards! 🤑🤑

Back in 2018 when I would drop off my Hertz rental almost across the street from the port property they didn't offer shuttles until 11am at the request of the port.  I would pay the $8 for an Uber to take me there as it isn't practical to walk despite being close as the crow flies.

Hi Twangster! Exactly, that is why we pay to park at Park Port Canaveral with shuttle included. This certainty won’t ruin my cruise! However, I wish I would have known of the late shuttle start when booking so I could have found another option.

Pretty normal.  Long before the shutdown the port would sometimes ask car rental companies not to run their shuttles until after 11am.

Good to know! I only went out of Port Canaveral once before Covid, but many times since the restart. This is the 1st at full capacity. I understand the crowd control, but this minimizes my Key benefits if I can’t get to the port by my assigned embarkation time and board in time for The Key lunch. I will have to research other parking options for the future.

  8. I got this email from Park Port Canaveral today. Not happy! We have early embarkation time and The Key lunch. Anyone have recommendations for alternate parking?

Important Message: Change to Port Canaveral Shuttle Times

    Dear Park Port Canaveral Customer,

Due to congestion at Port Canaveral cruise terminals from unprecedented passenger volume, Park Port Canaveral shuttle service from off-site parking to each cruise terminal will begin at 11:15am. This is a delay of approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. Please adjust your arrival time accordingly. There is no need to arrive earlier than 10:45am. Our parking lot will still open at 9:30am, but arriving early will cause an extended wait for the first shuttle at 11:15am.

Please also note that you must arrive no later than 2:30pm to allow enough time to go through the embarkation process.

We understand you may have an arrival time from your cruise line. All cruise ships are adjusting due to unprecedented passenger volumes causing delays for both debark and embark. Arriving later than the time assigned by your cruise ship will cause no problem with embarkation. You will have plenty of time to go through the process and get settled on board while avoiding the congestion and rush of crowds arriving early.

Thank you for your understanding and thank you for your business. Our mission is to ensure your safe and comfortable arrival to get your cruise vacation off to a great start.

    Sincerely,
    Park Port Canaveral
  9. Received this email today from Park Port Canaveral. Anyone else get this? Not at all happy about this. We have an early embarkation time and The Key lunch. Anyone know of another parking alternative? Don’t want to park at the port in case it is sold out, and it’s more expensive. ☹️

  10. Hi Everyone! I have a sailing coming up with Key benefits and the welcome letter has me a bit confused. Has anyone used The Key recently that can clarify how show seating works on Oasis Class (Wonder of the Seas)? I have only cruised with The Key during reduced capacity and we were let in early to shows with the suite and Diamond etc. guests. The letter below seems to indicate a reserved section where we could show up before open seating and sit in a reserved section similar to how Star Class guests are seatd. Any clarification is greatly appreciated!

    Dear Guest,

We're excited to welcome you onboard soon! Before you set sail, we wanted to remind you of the benefits that come with The Key program.

Here's what you can expect on your upcoming sailing:

    • Early access at the terminal.*
    • Drop off your carry-on luggage in the Main Dining Room on Deck 4 by 2:00 PM - your carry-on luggage will be hand delivered to your stateroom.
    • Exclusive welcome lunch in the Main Dining Room featuring the Chops Grille® menu (open from 12:00pm - 1:30pm). We recommend arriving to the terminal no later than 11:30 AM for you to have enough time to enjoy lunch with us!
    • Private time at some of our onboard activities such as rock climbing, FlowRider, etc.
    • Priority departure from ship-to-shore at tender ports.
    • Seats in the exclusive VIP seating section at shows in the Main Theatre, Aqua Theater, Studio B and Two70, however a reservation is needed so don't forget to book once you're onboard!
    • VOOM Surf & Stream package, now including high speed internet, for one device (1 package per guest).
    • On debarkation day, enjoy a private á la carte breakfast and choice departure.

*Please arrive at the terminal at 11:30 AM. If you are not able to make the early access window, you should arrive within your appointment time and will receive priority access into the terminal.

Lastly, when you arrive to the port for your sailing, please locate The Key signage for priority access into the terminal and make your way onto the ship.

Since I made this posting I read many reviews on Google etc (along with and because of youtube videos I saw). Everyone thinks the VIP beach is a death trap. We are over 50 and falling on rocks is not an option. Plus people complain a lot about the boat out to there being an hour late and then having almost no time on island. Way more negative reviews then positive I found. Seriously considering Margaritaville day pass. Nice flat beach, calm water, etc.

I should have done more research before booking blue lagoon in Nassau. Glad I can save someone else with my terrible experience! We did Pearl Island VIP on a subsequent visit to Nassau and it was very nice. Our only complaint was that it wasn't long enough.

    Absolutely yes. Love that place.

Best service of any all-inclusive I've been to.

Any recommendations for when they are sold out? I am on the group cruise in Dec, but booked before I knew it was group cruise 😢, so of course Maya Chan is sold out. I am really missing out on the Maya Chan group visit! I had a trip to Baccalar booked, but RC cancelled it with the change in port dates. The other Baccalar excursions have a weight limit and are slightly under what my DH currently weighs. Ideas and tips appreciated!

Anyone do the "Chacchoben Mayan Ruins & Bacalar Lagoon Beach" thru RC?  Was it any good?  So hard to know what size group or any reviews from the ones on RC site.

We were also trying to decide between Mayan Eden Eco Park and Gumbalimba Preservation Park.  We have Mayan booked because that was the first one that appeared.

Yes! Chacchoben & Blue Lagoon was one of our top excursions ever! We plan to repeat it when we go back.

Ok, so looked at about 20 YouTube videos on this excursion. The regular that's like $89 and the VIP for adults that's around $125. The food at the adult beach really doesn't appeal to me. Rather just risk a burger at the main location. And the endless free bahama mama's isn't our thing since we take meds and have to limit alcohol. However, still considering the VIP because of the beach Vs the lagoon. The lagoon looks so shallow in vids it looks like a puddle. Anyone think the VIP is worth it just for the beach? Advice, opinions, stories? All would be helpful. $125 per person is a big deal to us, so want to make right choice. Thanks.

Definitely not worth the upgrade if your goal is to have a nice swimming area. We did the VIP and the area they placed us in was not suitable to even get in the water. There were large coral-like boulders that prevent you from getting into the water. Some places the rocks are flat enough to walk on and get your feet wet. The surf was very very rough and when you combine that with the rocks, it really was not suitable for swimming. Our guide pointed out an alternate area for swimming as we walked to the VIP area, but you have to descend very steep steps into the water to access it. We did not care for the overall experience at Blue Lagoon as it is very commercialized and we felt like cattle being herded the whole time. That being said, the non-VIP area would be better for swimming.

  15. Hi Everyone! I am trying to print my calendar for my upcoming cruise. In the "old" cruise planner, I could print my week on one page. This would list arrival/departure times for each port as well as start time for excursions and other items on my calendar. I would appreciate any tips on how to do this in the "new" cruise planner. I like to take this with me on the trip to help plan my show bookings and dinner reservations. Thanks!

Great to hear but it's unfortunate about the cruise planner purchases.

Just to be clear though, the cruise planner purchases were refunded right?  Not completely lost?

    Correct, refunded.
