  1. Yea. I went off and was there for check in. turns out he was completely checked in and we could board immediately. my only frustration was that I kept being told different things.
  2. Well this could be interesting. At the consecutive cruisers meeting yesterday, I was told to leave the ship between 7-9 to get my new sea pass then wait for my son to arrive and go through check in with him. When I went to leave the ship just now, they told me to meet with the consecutive cruisers (who are staying on the ship) at 930 to go through customs with them and come back onboard. The one constant is that I have to be there with him at check in because he is only 19. I kinda did something in don’t usually do and commented that he could join the Navy by himself but not board a cruise ship I’m curious how this will play out
  3. Just received the rejection email. I'm still on Adventure for another week, so all is good in my world.
  4. We didn’t pre pay gratuities this cruise. They just get charged to our onboard folio. We can either let them be paid by the credit card we have on file or go to Guest Services tonight and pay cash. Either way they get paid.
  5. While we were in St Maarten, Oasis docked. Thought it was a cool comparison picture.
  6. Liberty of the Seas 29 Aug 2021 to 5 Sept 2021 5 Sept 2021 to 12 Sept 2021 582 days from today. ??
  7. Hawaii recently banned sunscreens with certain chemicals (starting in 2021). Here's a link to some info. https://www.hawaii.com/blog/reef-safe-sunscreen/ I followed the guidelines and bought a sunscreen that met that criteria.
  8. We were there earlier in the week. While I didn't venture to the shops area, my wife did. She said she stayed in the building and had no problems with aggressive vendors. When she first got close to the "other" area, she said a polite no thank you and moved away As mentioned above, knowing conversational French probably helped....even the gentleman who brought us to our covered lounger appreciated my Quebecois. ? We enjoyed Labadee and want to go back.
  9. This. We used a travel agent for the first time ever when booking my cruise next week. After it was booked, I wanted to add my son to the booking so they could join me. All it took was an email, and they were added. It was just that simple. As far as I’m concerned, this was worth more to me than onboard credit..a simple email vs. waiting on hold forever to try to explain to a Royal Caribbean agent what I wanted to do. In addition, I’ve had questions that were answered immediately for me. No waiting on hold or straining to understand. Things like this are why I am so happy with our decision to use an agent. I feel I have an advocate in my corner who will navigate the tangled web of pre-cruise customer service. I’ll never go back to booking on my own
  10. You can check out towels for use both on and off the ship. if you fail to return them, you will be charged. edit: lol. Everyone replied at once.
  11. This may never apply to anyone, but I figured I'd share what I just learned. My wife and I are currently on Adventure. When we get back to Fort Lauderdale on the 26th, she is going home and I am staying onboard for the following cruise. Our 19 year old son will be joining me on the second cruise. Because they are not 21, I have to leave the ship and go through check in with them. I will not have to recheck in myself since I will get my seapass before leaving the ship, but they will not be allowed to board without me present. My luggage will stay onboard and be moved to my new stateroom for me My source: Guest Services here onboard. I've been there three times today trying to figure it all out.
  12. We just booked at Next Cruise to take advantage of the lower deposit (nonrefundable). The Next Cruise representative transferred the bookings to our agent right away.
  13. I was standing by an open window on deck 11 as Adventure docked in San Juan today. I counted 11 different people talking about this incident , and all of them thought his story is bs. I had forgotten just how far it is from the wooden railing to the window ledge. I could stand between the two. It would be a tight squeeze, and the footing would suck, but there’s enough room for my body I have never minded heights, but when I bent out the window like I saw in the above video, I was a bit uncomfortable.
  14. Since airfare is a big part of the overall cruising expense for us , I helped justify the second cruise by saying, “I’m already there, so I don’t need to buy another plane ticket”. ?
  15. The photo I uploaded for the cruise I’m currently on right now is the same one I uploaded for our cruise back in October. I was never required to have it retaken when boarding. My wife had to have hers retaken for this cruise, but her hair went from blonde to pink.
  16. I suggest booking both at the same time. I’m currently on Adventure and staying onboard for the next cruise. I didn’t book both at the same time, so I don’t have the same room, although Michelle at MEI did get me the second room very close to the first. More than getting the same room, booking both at the same time ensures Royal realizes you are doing a consecutive cruise. Even after talking to Guest Services, I’m not 100% confident my transition from the first to the second will be flawless.
  17. We are super impressed with the very fast refund on a cancelled excursion today. We are in Labadee and our 1pm snorkeling excursion was cancelled due to rough water conditions. We walked back to the ship and by the time we got there, the refund was showing in our folio. I figured a good story would offset the few complaints we see here as well as reassure people who are concerned about their excursions being cancelled.
  18. Thank you!!! It started out great....when we landed at FLL, it was 70 degrees warmer than when we left home.
  19. We just got the rejection email now. 6:10 pm the night before Best part? We’re still boarding Adventure tomorrow morning. ?
  20. Read The Sea-Wolf by Jack London That's why you don't want to sail when it's foggy. ?
  21. We chose her for both....we were on Mariner last January when we booked. We were very happy with the Voyager class, so we looked for one to book on. We also wanted to go to the Eastern Caribbean during our winter months. Everything aligned and we booked on Adventure for next week. When she is in Portland, Maine, I can see her across the water from where I park at work.
  22. My wife and I carried on 12 bottles of water when we sailed on Vision back in October. We each had 6 bottles placed in various sections of our carry on bags. When we went through the security scan, the person there asked if it was water or alcohol. We told them water and were on our way. We didn't have to show them or open our bags.
  23. We're sailing on Adventure Saturday and have no concerns whatsoever. There are some recent blogs posted here on this site showing current pictures of her. You can also look for videos on You Tube.
  24. Doubt we'll get upgraded at this point since we sail Saturday. Doesn't really matter since we are happy with where our Interior room is located. For kicks, I just put in a $40 ($20 pp) bid for the second leg (Jan 26-Feb 1). This is to go from an Interior to a Promenade View Interior and is the lowest bid allowed. Again, it doesn't really matter if the bid is accepted or not since I'm happy with where our assigned cabin is.
  25. @twangster Going back to using go pro app.... Will the app and camera communicate using Voom? My son has a Hero 3 they rarely use that I’m bringing next cruise. Thanks!!! ?
