Time to level the playing field: Chair Hogs
PhantomWolf replied to tonyfsu21's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I did not expect to find a Nietzsche quote here on the blog this morning but I am pleasantly surprised. I'm conflicted here. The poster is going to become a chair hog which we all find annoying (chair hogs, not the poster). But they are making the change intentionally to enjoy what they have spent money on. I guess I'm okay with this as long as you are actively using the chairs at some point.... the duality of man is fun. -
Have done this twice in the past week for CocoCay's Hideaway Beach. Have now saved more than half the original cost. Love the repricing options!

Thanksgiving sailing on Freedom!!! -
Thank you @Matt Looking forward to seeing some information for NYE parties

Have trips booked for Thanksgiving and now over New Years. I was curious on what kinds of things go on during these times. Mostly what kind of celebrations go on during NYE. How would you celebrate? 25 and 62 days remaining!

No Pre-Noon Arrival Windows?
PhantomWolf replied to WhoCruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Take the time to sleep in and enjoy a relaxed breakfast. We all like to get on the ship ASAP, but the crew does have a lot of things that they need to do before everyone boards. I'm surprised that a post noon arrival time isn't the norm. Enjoy your trip! I'm about a month away from my next one. -
Former bartender checking in. If we have the spirits and you have a bit of a guide, we can make anything you'd like I'm ready to get back on a ship for Thanksgiving and trying some new things out. Also ready to be sitting by the pool with my adult chocolate milk of Kahlua and Baileys on the rocks.

email for Aug 2025 cruise swapping CocoCay for Nassau
PhantomWolf replied to brdjnr's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I understand that there is always the possibility of port changes or being skipped all together. But personally I would be disappointed. I stayed on the ship the last time my ship stopped in Nassau and enjoyed an uncrowded time in the Solarium. Not an even trade as I enjoy being able to eat and drink at CocoCay for no extra change. -
I'm sorry for the lack of sleep because of the noise. This is why I now pack a sound/white noise machine and some ear plugs. Hope you are able to get something worked out and get some sleep.

Happy Sailing October 2024 cruisers!
PhantomWolf replied to Lovetocruise2002's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
OOOOOHHHHHH getting closer to November!! Fun and safe travels to our October travel buddies! I've told my students that I'll be gone around Thanksgiving, I haven't told them what I'm doing yet. -
Was just laying the info out there. She's able to walk, just gets tired after a little bit. I know plenty of people in their sixties that can outrun me with ease. I spoke with her about possible assistance, she wants to give it a go on her own. Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I will keep these things in mind as we get closer to sailing.

For Thanksgiving I have bought my mother a cruise as a thank you for well...everything. She is in her early sixties and has the ability to walk on her own but quickly gets tired. I'm not so worried about this when she is on the ship, as there are plenty of places to sit and rest for awhile. My favorite spot is the Solarium but I digress. My question is what kind of assistance is available for her when we arrive to the port? This day is my biggest concern for the both of us as there is usually a lot of standing and waiting, even if we arrive at our designated time slot. Any tips would be appreciated for her, thank you. I'll see you come up with in a few hours, back to work I go.

Would be a different kind of floater at that point... I'll see myself out now.

Welcome to the show! @Matt serves drinks on Monday nights after his live YouTube feed, very generous with the pours. From everything I've heard from people, MEI is the way to go.

Been a rough go of it for the IT department lately hasn't it... Hope its all cleared up soon for those having issues.

When did Love & Marriage become so unpopular?
PhantomWolf replied to xps15z's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Because the same questions were asked the summer of 2022 as were asked in 1997 when I was on the newish Majesty of the Seas. No real reason to return after that. -
What can I expect with online check in
PhantomWolf replied to Minuet888's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I just punched in the information at the ballpark. No picture of it was needed. However, I am stunned that it accepted my selfie with other people behind me in the stands. -

I'm going to be at a baseball game tonight when my window opens up. Can I upload pictures previously taken or do I have to take a picture of my passport and a selfie within the app itself? -
Was on the cruise planner today and at CocoCay there is the "swimming pigs tour"... and before the "sale" it is listed at $154. I have done this once before with my pig obsessed ex gf and I have no earthly idea why it would cost this much. You take a beautiful but short boat ride to the area where the pigs are at, and then you get to feed them apples if you choose, get into the water with them for a photo op. Why such a bloated price for a short, maybe ten minute boat ride and apples?! Its not like I'm getting to drive a jet ski over to the island and then taking home lobster. I love RC and I know this seems like a silly complaint, but I just had to point this out today.

Future Trips and a Thanksgiving Sailing
PhantomWolf replied to PhantomWolf's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
It is sounding like we should go try one of the specialty restaurants for Thanksgiving Day. The other stuff sounds fun though -
First of all, I am overly (properly) excited to be sailing again after having to take last year off after a job change and move across the country! Right now it is hard for me to picture a vacation that doesn't include a cruise. I love having this space and Matt's channel to be able to have an outlet for this excitement, so thank you. Have two sailings this year, one early summer and then a Thanksgiving sailing on Freedom this year. (taking mom on a trip as a thank you for being awesome my whole life) I was curious if Royal does anything special on Thanksgiving for dining. Can't wait to watch some of the football games at Playmakers and poolside if they show it there.

Solo Travel Experience, Don't Be Afraid To Go!
PhantomWolf replied to PhantomWolf's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
People watching is in my top five things to do while cruising. Its nice seeing everyone having a good time. -
Been awhile since I've been around, but I wanted to share some thoughts. In October of last year I took a spur of the moment (get away from real life) last minute cruise on my own. Was a three night simple trip on Independence, only plans were for an inside cabin room and the deluxe beverage package, no excursions were planned or other frills. And I wanted to come here and say that I LOVED every moment of this trip! It was liberating and exactly what I needed to get away from some stress. I had more fun on this trip than the six nighter that I just went on that July when I was with someone. I got to meet so many more people, have a bunch of fun and random conversations with strangers, ALL of them friendly and having a great time. I'm not the most outgoing person and this was still very easy to do. While sharing a trip with someone and making memories is a great thing, I did enjoy my time alone not having to worry about what another person wanted to do. The only time it felt a little odd was when it was time to eat, but even then, if you wanted to strike up a conversation in the main dining room, or at a place like Playmakers, it was super easy. So if you are on the fence about traveling alone on a cruise, be brave and go for it! You only live once, so why not be adventurous
