  1. Lift and shift doesn’t have to be the same vessel. Just same length, itinerary, and cabin type.
  2. No. While the 11/1 and beyond schedule was supposed to released in April, when everything hit the fan they moved the release day to 5/28.
  3. I wouldn’t jump to do anything right now. If you cancel it there’s only credit or flexibility to be lost. When RC cancels it you’ll be able to take that extra 25 percent in credit or get your refund back. The one thing I would do is that if the same sailing +- 4 weeks next year is substantially more expensive I would lift and shift to that date.
  4. Don’t try to fake us out, we know it’s because the RLS will never have a refundable deposit ?
  5. We’re gonna be there. Positive thoughts. if you need to escape to some shade we’ll have it for you, either in the over the water cabana or on barefoot beach.
  6. If I was coming from anything more than a four hour flight away, I’d be moving the cruise. New York even more so. Governor Cuomo has already said he wants sports back but they’ll do it this fall without fans, and New Jersey has been fairly lockstep with New York so I’m not optimistic about him fully opening the port.
  7. I hate to sound like a travel insurance salesman, but examples like this are precisely why everyone needs to know what they are getting into. It’s why we all make the math work between refundable and non refundable deposits, as decides whether or not the 250$ deposit makes sense to potentially lose. As your cruise isn’t till October you aren’t fully paid, there’s people dealing with today potential August departures who have made final payment and because of work issues or other issues they aren’t going to be able to go.
  8. Unfortunately I think a lesson that may come out of this entire situation for many is to read agreements and contracts before agreeing with them.
  9. I was on the Hyatt website earlier and the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is now taking reservations for 7/1 and on as well.
  10. What’s hilarious is listening to DCL stories about what people pay for cabanas. It sounds like it makes the CocoCay prices seem downright sane.
  11. Keep an eye out. Could be others holding cabanas before the suite cabanas open. Speaking of which @CJS2766 if you end up looking for a cabana on Oasis 11/8 there will be one probably open a few weeks before sailing.
  12. Ours is just a backup but may stay the final option. We didn’t want to possibly miss getting a cabana by waiting to see what the cabanas on Barefoot beach we’re going to cost. So we locked this one in as a backup plan.
  13. Keep an eye on pricing. It went up late last week but before that for a few weeks the cabanas were very reasonably priced. We were able to get an over the water for only 453.
  14. The Harmony group cruise is an interesting example of this phenomenon. Pricing was down last week to 969 for neighborhood balcony, then went up to 1087, then the “sale” started and it went to 1037.
  15. I wouldn’t call it a game of chicken, as @KathyC has said many times, they’re so far behind on cancellations they can’t add any more. There are still people from the first and second wave of cancellations that still haven’t gotten their FCC’s (like me even though they’ve promised three times I’d have it by now), so they have to wait till they get caught back up before adding tens of thousand more records to the top of the pile.
  16. And like on Royal, a sale isn’t always a sale. It’s fun watching the price jump up one or two days before a sale comes out so they can bring the price down and call it a sale.
  17. If I were you I’d go ahead and lift and shift to next year. You’ll have a jump on the others who haven’t already cancelled the sailing.
  18. He did a good interview with Emma over at cruisingisntjustforoldpeople earlier today as well.
  19. They aren’t even allowed to stay in a hotel till a charter flight is available, nor can they get in a cab or use any public transit.
  20. The posting pattern is clearly one of a troll. In this case it looks like an attorney who has been doing this for years, well before any of this. It’s not that we don’t feel sympathetic, but to assume that Royal is the only at fault is shortsighted. The mechanisms for getting crew back home have existed for decades and were taken away as well as the normal capacity for getting them home. Normally crew are changed out in a rolling basis, so there’s not 750 heading back to Manila at once, there might be five to 10. Also, many of them are on still valid contracts, where they agreed to six months at sea or sometimes more.
  21. Yep, @Baked Alaska let’s call him out now. Jimmy we know it’s you, I’m sure there’s some ambulance to be chased in SoFla waiting on you. Also, appropriating an Asian sounding name doesn’t sound very ethical if it is you.
  22. If things are close to normal I’ll definitely be on a ship in August (were booked in Harmony for 8/16) but wearing masks in 100 degree heat with near 100% humidity at the pool deck would be a no go and we’ll cancel.
  23. They’re too big a company to have such poor corporate communication skills. It clearly wasn’t just a PR effort with the communication on 5/11 that promised 5/14. Customer service should have been adamant that email never went out if they couldn’t actually meet that goal.
  24. No. And even though I got the message on 5/11 they never issued the FCC before. So we’re now on three communications with deadlines they set and failed to meet. 54 days and counting
  25. My one piece of input would be itinerary based, because you start out so much further south, those Freedom itineraries can sometimes be very port intensive (5 in 7 days) making for less relaxing time on the balcony.
