  1. And the beauty of Southwest is that if it ever goes down just like with a cruise you can reprice it, and in most circumstances it can be done online.
  2. Same on our August Harmony cruise. It dropped to 49 last night as well. Our biggest decline was a cabana. The OTW at Labadee dropped down to 388.
  3. One key point is that if you can in any way avoid checking luggage do. If you just carry-on there’s no worry of rain on the tarmac or baggage handlers throwing it. Sherri over at crusetipsTv has some great tips on packing in a carry on.
  4. When our April Oasis sailing was cancelled we used that situation to book May, but didn’t stress out when it was cancelled, we just used it to book more later. When that May cruise was cancelled it was much clearer than this being a 6-8 week problem so we didn’t book anything for June or July. We only booked August because it was nearly free, same with October. We’re lucky enough that waiting on refunds doesn’t effect making more deposits so we’ve been able to take advantage of some very good deals and since March have booked 6 cruises before the end of next year.
  5. No, I haven’t heard of anyone. There’s been urban legend that someone on that other site said they were able to. But I’m assuming that is just misinformation to get other people riled up.
  6. Time for you to head up to BWI and hop on Southwest. Round trip nonstop was 293. And no checked baggage fees.
  7. My suggestion would be to check room categories above and below yours as you can still reprice if things come down. You’ll have to call and mention that the other categories are down. Normally if those above and below come down it’s an indications yours has.

  9. The airline industry has huge lobbying dollars behind it.
  10. Your best bet is going to be to cancel now and take the full FCC or wait until it either goes or gets cancelled by RC and at that point you’d have to wait for Royal to issue the credit.
  11. That’s the biggest key. Pretend it’s a debit card, which I haven’t used in years as the protections are so poor. I’ll often make multiple payments a week on my Amex’s to keep the balances at 0
  12. I spend a lot of my life on Southwest 737’s so I could spot that livery luggage tag from a mile away. The BA 747 one on my backpack is harder to spot as it’s white.
  13. If you are looking to do the same time frame next year (+- 4 weeks) you could lift and shift right now provided it was a standard rate, Lift and Shift doesn’t apply to casino rates.
  14. If anyone is an airplane nerd in addition to being a cruise nerd, planetags makes great luggage tags that are easily identified and personalized. They are made out of retired airplanes, so you never have to worry about the tag getting damaged. @Matt maybe we could have them carve out some of grandeur, majesty, or empress to sell some cruise luggage tags
  15. One thing we have used in the past on my daughters suitcase is Mr. Clean MagicEraser. They do a good job of getting skid marks and belt gunk off a hard sided suitcase.
  16. Precisely, we all think we could tell the difference between 45 and 55 pounds when lifted but it all just sucks and is heavy. The only thing that gets lighter is your wallet.
  17. It’ll be hard to find. I’ve seen travel agents in other groups have asked the question. BTW-if you are willing to go early in the season there’s a great price on a Grand Loft in May. Couldn’t convince the family to take a week off school so had to settle for July in a GS1.
  18. While we’re talking checked luggage. One thing that is almost as important as the suitcase itself for a cruise is having a luggage scale with a fresh battery. We keep scales in all of our checked bags because there’s no one I laugh at harder than the people who’s underwear are all over an airport floor because their suitcases were overweight because they didn’t distribute weight evenly. You should never get to the airport not knowing how heavy a suitcase is.
  19. I’m the same way, I’d always rather put the suitcase on the rack and fold it up against the wall, rather than having two halves of a suitcase teetering in the edge of falling off.
  20. Wow, that’s a huge upper limit, even my wife who works with a government contract maxes out at eight weeks. I think after the last week few weeks up that way your entire department is going to need a long vacation.
  21. Not being able to book and plan any work travel, all I can do it plan vacations. Now I’ve gotta get working on getting my parent company to grant an exemption for this year, normally we can only roll over one week of vacation, but without being able to use it everyone will have too much.
  22. Hopefully I’ll get to wave as you walk by. Starting to get concerned about the even the prospects of November cruises.
  23. That’s a terrible backup plan. A good backup plan would be refundable tickets to somewhere like Tahiti.
  24. Yep. Now if he could just use those bot skills to fill in the correct info on the website.
  25. Yes, while it’s not for everyone, with the right spending and travel it can be worth every penny.
